Gran Turismo 6 Season 9 Round 5-6
Posted on Thursday 16th June at 3:43 PM
The Nurburgring Nordschelife, one of the most feared and demanding circuits in the world. Deny it of the respect it deserves, and it will bite. It’s a circuit that plays no favourites, a circuit that rewards the brave and the fearless. A challenge unlike any other. Drivers for years have dreamt of that perfect lap around here, every apex over 173 corners, 25.9 kilometres of elevating, winding and twisty German tarmac. Does the perfect lap exist? Maybe…. Does the perfect race? We were about to find out… Raceonoz takes to the Green hell for Round 5 of the GTLOZ’s ninth season on GT6, 3 Divisions packed to the brim were ready to tackle this seasons Endurance Round. Who would go out in a blaze of glory? And who wouldn’t make it to the flag? To make matters worse, if they did make it home, the tight streets of Japan were just a week away from them too…. This is the Rounds 5 and 6 recap of the Gran Turismo 6 Sunday League.

Division 1 were the first to take to the one of a kind race track and it was a familiar face on Pole Position for the second time since his return, with MINT_GTR leading the field into turn one, however it would be Aussie_Nicko who took the race win over 21 seconds ahead of the polesitter, and a further minute ahead of Bryan_F who gets his second podium of the season. With Warrior2167 suffering a rare disconnect as well, the win couldn’t have been more timely for Nick. The title fight is far from decided yet…

aussie_nicko Qual P3 Race P1:Like my others, night didn't start off too great, having 3 offs in the final few sectors ruining what I estimated to possibly be a 7'43/7'44 laptime giving me a P3 start for the race. Put my head down and had a good start, picking up 2nd from Warrior round the outside of turn 1. Matt was quick off the line and it wasn't until the end of lap 1 I had a good run on him. Didn't quite have the best line to pass down the hill after the final split and we made slight contact, I speared off onto the grass, but no issue rejoined just behind him and we set off on lap 2.
Lap 2 things got really crazy. I had a good run from Flugplatz and we went side-by-side all the way from Kottenbom til Fuchsrohre... with no contact, was really good fun! (If you have the replay saved watch this! ) Had to yield back to Matt as we were still alongside each other heading down the hill before the uphill Adenaeur Frost complex, and for sure 2-wide there would not work lol.
Made the pass stick a little further up the road at Mutkuve and managed to pull a slight gap.
Pitstops shortly followed with my strategy seeming to work well again.
With Warrior only 4s away I couldn't make any mistakes, so was very surprised when the gap suddenly increased a heap to Matt in P3.
Overall, a brilliant race at this challenging circuit, Warrior still has a good grip on the championship and with this round an easy drop for him, it does put pressure on him to make no mistakes in the final 2 races, with me of course the same.
Cheers all.

Mastering the tight street and walls of Special Stage Route 5 from pole was Warrior, making up amends for the Nurburgring, with aussie_nicko chasing him down hard, but sadly fell 7 seconds short. The two had battled early on dicing for position, as what was described as a classic scrap. I33793360 took the final position on the podium, however in Division 1B X-WTF-MAN-X puts himself out of reach and takes out the Championship with just a round to go! Huge congratulations to him on his efforts this season.

Warrior2167 Qual P1 Race P1:
Another classic with Nick, awesome battle all race. Staying out 2 extra laps and pitting on lap 17 made a world of difference as the meds gave out towards the end. Good luck in the final round, seeing what happened at Le mans I know I wont be taking anything for granted until I cross the finish line. Also, I don't know why we didn't pick this track before, I loved it and it looked like it produced great racing throughout the field.

Division 2 have just witnessed a fantastic race, however it was only going to get more exciting for the spectators at the track...

In Division 2, championship leader Motorsports560 was unable to make the Endurance Round at the Nurburgring, blowing the door wide open for the chasing pack to close right back up. BHR’s bmx-mtb-boy took full advantage of pole position and stormed away into the green hell to notch up his first win of the season and second podium. It was no easy feat however, after 90 minutes of racing, Third placed BMWf30328i was just 12 seconds behind the winner, with second placed holdenman05 staring down the winner’s rear wing at just 3 seconds behind on the road.

bmw_mtb_boy Qual P1 Race P1: That was one hell of a race. First 3 laps racing Adronaught were the best battle I've had all season since the race long battle with Cola at Round 2. Was surprised to get pole given the sheer speed BMW had. Also glad I ran Soft Tyres for the 2nd stint since I had 3 spins on lap 7 & 8 which stopped me from pulling a gap on BMW before he made his 2nd stop. Sooner I get a wheel and pedals the better. Feels like it's really limiting me now.

Under the lights on the narrow Tokyo Highway, Motorsports560 claimed a narrow victory from pole in the Division 2 field as he barely edged out BMWf30328i and holdenman05 as the top three were covered by just 6 seconds. Motorsports560 was ecstatic with the result and leapt for joy on the podium, later saying:
Motorsports560 Qual P1 Race P1:
VICTORY!!!
I honestly can't believe it i struggled so much during practice being consistent and keeping off walls i thought tonight wasn't going to be a good night well how wrong was i.
Started off by getting pole with a 17.1 Starting on softs got a great launch and over the laps started building a massive gap which at its peak was 13 seconds. Not much happened for the first 16 laps until i pitted for the mediums i fell to fourth but first on the road who had stopped. By lap 20 the others had stopped and i resumed the lead with a 21 second margin back to 2nd.
My intention was to conserve and push near the end i ended up doing the opposite slowly but consistently taking ground away from me.
Then by lap 25 nerves started to hit when i started catching slower cars the intention was to not get involved in their fight and leave them to it.
Overall i gained little by little on the lapped cars and the gap to 2nd was now less then 10 seconds i knew by this stage i was in an awkward position i honestly didn't want to pass the lapped cars but 2nd was gaining little bit by bit.
Then it happened with 3 laps to go NEAR disaster happened when Adronaught hit that invisible wall just outside of the tunnel i saw his headlights last minutes and swerved hard to the right to attempt to avoid i only just got by him however i lost 3.5 seconds in the ordeal the gap was now 6 seconds.
Just to make it slightly more scary my teammate disturboed did the exact same thing on the final lap however this time i had more warning and more time to avoid thanks mate for the scare
And that was it as i weaved my way to the chequered flag with team boss behind huge credit goes to the podium getters BMWf30328i and Holdenman05 gained heaps of time in the last few laps great racing guys.

Division three approaches the infamous Green Hell finally....

NAACs for the second week in succession dominates Division 3 on Sunday night with a 27 point haul to help propel him 5 points closer to championship leader Incey who came home P2. Easyprey007 took home the final spot on the podium.

Incey Race P2:
Well I'm glad that round is over. Well done NAACS and Easyprey007 the other podium spots. I'm not gonna be the white meat in the PRT sandwich any more ya hear, next round is SAR for the win.
Fair dinkum naacs you woulda come close to winning div2 i reckon. Looking forward to seeing how far up the ladder your hot lap is. Do ya believe me now about the sandbags?

Another round and another 5 points closer to Incey comes NAACS. The form driver in Division 3 right now who is doing everything he can to close in on Incey’s incredibly consistent season. With the drop round, the two walk into Japan just 6 points apart. This title fight is going to be incredible to watch from the sidelines! The two are both class acts so it will be a flip of the coin on who to bet on! X-3vil-m00n takes third place on the Japanese street circuit in a very well driven race.

Incey Qual P2 Race P2:
All I know is I need to be ahead of NAACS. Easier said than done though.
I haven't checked the replay yet but my wrong button pressing fiasco approaching the pits cost me heaps.....probably the win last night. 34 laps of pretty good lines and I f up the pit entry. Well done sandbagger on the 1.17.1, couldn't believe it when I saw that time pop up.
I don't know if you guys started late waiting for me or if it was room issues but either way I was ecstatic to get a qually lap. One of the most stressful laps I have ever done though, I had been running back and forth between PS3, router and computer trying to fix my issues for nearly 15 minutes and when I finally got on the BP was already through the roof. To get the pole made my day.
Apart from the pitstop I couldn't have done that race any better and I hope I can keep naacs honest for the final round. (no more brake tips but)

So as the drivers head into the final rounds, there is not a single overall championship decided yet. The Gran Turismo 6 league once again providing incredible racing all the way to the end. The final round is taking place at the Twin Ring Motegi Grand Prix Circuit and will hopefully provide an incredible backdrop for a fabulous season in the Mercedes Benz SLS GT3. A car I’m sure many will miss. Keep your eyes open for the final round of the championship news article coming soon, you don’t want to miss what happens next in this championship! Until next time….
