Gran Turismo 6 Season 9 The Final Round
Posted on Wednesday 29th June at 1:24 PM
Twin Ring Motegi is a circuit that has held some fantastic battles over the seasons and when the community events have rolled into town, however this weekend was something different. There wasn’t just one, or two…. But Three Division Championships to be won. Division 1 was all eyes on Warrior as he closed in on that 14th consecutive title, but as always, Aussie_Nicko was unrelenting in making life easy for him. Holdenman05 was giving it his all as he closed in on Motorsports560 for the Division 2 championship. The gap was currently at 11 points, and it was only going to get closer…. But how close? Incey also leads Division 3 by 11 points, but with NAACs closing in at every second, could he hold on? Let’s find out….. But first, Division 1!

In Division 1 it was the same old story and another addition to his title haul for Warrior2167. He edged out B-Spec Bob by 32 seconds, with Bryan_F a further half a second back in third in a very tight fight. For warrior though, it was another case of being too strong when it all mattered, with three wins in the final 4 rounds. Here’s what the maestro had to say afterward:

Warrior2167 Division 1 Champion Season 9:
Thanks everyone,so that's 14 now. Once again Nick it was a hell of a fight all season, especially at brands and ssr5. Also well done hat for putting this season together. I thought the regulations worked very well.
Credit to Bob last night, at the start he had a better launch and denied me a chance to cover the inside line and moved into 1st place. An earlier practice race we had this week proved he was going to be a tough cookie to get past. I didn't want to race him to hard early on which would have slowed us both down. Nick was there in third putting heaps of pressure on while I'm trying to juggle keeping him behind, keeping bob insight and saving the tyres.
After Nick's mistake there was a decent gap to Luke in 3rd, so I now had the chance to race bob hard with 18 laps reaming I knew I would need all of them to do so. Just as the practice race, bob was defending valiantly, the closest I came was switching back under for the second apex at turn 1, turn 2 though put me back on the outside. Unfortunately shortly after his car slowed and I was gifted the 1st place. After that it was a lonely race to the chequered flag, the win felt empty as I really wanted to earn that pass.

Meanwhile in Division 1B, the championship was already run and done for X-WTF-MAN-X however that didn’t stop him taking 4th place overall at Motegi as well to win the division 1B title by over 21 points.

Next up was Division 2, could Motorsports560 make a championship out of his return season? Let’s see!

With the championship fight heating up between Motorsports560 and Holdenman05, a good result was exactly what Motorsports560 needed to maintain the lead. However disaster struck in the closing laps of the race as he plummeted down the order and with Holdenman05 out in the race lead with a bonus point to go along with it, it was a nervous wait for Motorsports to see if he had just hung on to the title… which he did by just four points. An incredible fight all season long and to end just 4 points apart is incredible. BMWF30328i and bmx-mtb-boy finished the season on a high claiming 2nd and 3rd at Motegi respectively.
Motorsports560 Division 2 Champion Season 9:
To be honest i have mixed feeling after that race. Thrilled i've won my first online racing championship but unsure what i'm annoyed more of the shitty tyre wear or my terrible strategical call. (coming from someone who wants to be a Motor Racing Engineer lol)
Not much to say good about that race though i'd like to apologise to the guys for racing a bus on track tonight you know you're struggling when your last lap is over 2 minutes haha ended up 7th.
To be fair the only reason i tried this move was purely a gamble when only 10 people showed up tonight i knew i couldn't be beaten so i was like why not just to be different as everyone saw bad move but hey it happens sometimes
Anyway serious note now i really want to thank everybody in this division for the good hard clean racing that happened this season especially the likes ofWatto64holdenman05bmx_mtb_boyBMWF30328andnatmanscoopfor giving me some great battles and challenges along the way.
I felt like when i left Raceonoz 2 years ago i didn't do it justice. i was 15 and a really poor driver at the time constantly making mistakes and blaming it on everyone but myself.
Over time i started really focussing on being consistent over a long period of time and starting noticing myself improving not only as a driver but also mentally like tonight the last 2 laps going from 3rd to 7th 2 years ago would've been throwing my headset to the ground and be really pissed off now i laughed and just shrugged it off it happens to everybody sometimes i said to myself
Eventually worked the courage to come back this season to try and showcase my new and improved skills and its taken me to a championship such an unreal feeling.
It's been a pleasure guys hopefully we can keep racing together for a while now on gt6 and into the new era of GT Sport
Thank You
Motorsports 560

Division 3 was an incredible battle as NAACs slowly closed in on Incey, but would it be the finish we all wanted to see?

Taking full points away from Japan would be NAACs who pulled off a 2008 Felipe Massa, doing everything he could to get the championship. After crossing the line it was all about where did Incey finish? However, after a few minutes of waiting, Incey was nowhere to be seen…. The Mercedes Benz SLS GT3 of the Shelby Acoustics Racing driver had expired on him and led the driver into an engine-failure retirement. Heartbreak for the championship leader as this meant he only scores 8 points, handing NAACs the championship at the final hurdle…. Easyprey007 completed a 1-2 race finish for PRT whilst a lovely cup of tea scored a lovely podium finish.

NAACS Division Three Season Nine Champion:
You were leading the championship going into this round.
I worked hard to get pole mate. In warm up you were quicker than me.
When race started I was stressing. With you being alongside me.
After I got through first corner I just had to focus. I knew you'd jump on any mistake.
So until the NBN devil got involved I was looking forward to a great race with you. I expected us to both give it a good go. I was surprised with your first stint tyre choice, but the run home would've been good fun.
Thank you for some great racing this season incey. It's been brilliant
Commiserations for being DSC'd.
You didn't deserve that.
