Gran Turismo 6 Season 10 Rounds 1-2
Posted on Tuesday 9th August at 4:28 PM

Gran Turismo 6 returns once again for Season 10 of the GTLOZ. The game may be become a little retro now, however the season started off with an even bigger retro flavor. The 1971 Ferrari 365 GTB4 was the weapon of choice across the grid this time around, and first up on the calander was the infamous Autrodromo de nazional Monza, but not as it is often known nowadays. The 1980s layout of Monza would be used for the opening round as the prancing horse marks its territory before moving to Sierra in the infamous loop around the mountains on the Spanish coastline. Division 1 is first up!

In Division 1 we saw a race like no other, a classic race in a classic car venue. Motorsports560 led the final lap on his Division 1 debut ahead of B-SpecBob and the notoriously quick veteran Warrior2167. As they approached the line we saw a finish like no other as many spectators in the crowd could do nothing but watch on a B-Spec Bob scored victory by just under half a tenth of a second, stealing the lead away at the final hurdle and Warrior2167 missing out on second place by just .004 of a second. The total gap between the podium finishers? Exactly 0.050 of a second. Welcome to the new season of Gran Turismo!
B-Spec Bob: Race P1:
Warmed up just at the right time for qualy as I found my groove late into the session for a PB and first Div1 pole . Couldn't quite turn that into a comfortable lead though as I spent the majority of the race driving slow defensive lines trying to keep warrior2167 behind. Had a few scrappy moments where both he and StigsTC snuck into the lead but always managed to get my act together instantly to retake the lead within a lap or so. Had a bit of range anxiety kick in as I just made it to pit lane on fumes and was temporarily relieved to rejoin just in front a battling Motorsports560 and warrior. But I took a bit too long to get comfortable on the medium compound tyres and a small moment on the next lap was all it took to lose momentum and the lead with 4 laps to go. Fortunately I found myself with a bit of breathing space to warrior in the dying minutes, so refocused on closing down and applying pressure onto mospo who eventually ran slightly wide at the last turn, which was more than enough invitation for me to slip it down the inside for the drag race to the finish .
Well done to warrior on another great race-long battle and to mospo560 on a great debut result! That said now that you're in Div 1, I think it'd be good if you could be more situationally aware with your surroundings and provide the bare minimum amount of racing room, as well as not cutting corners/exceeding track limits as often as I noticed in those final few laps.

B-Spec Bob would continue winning ways into Sierra, however lobby issues have postponed the race from being official and it will be re-run at a later date.

Division 2 relegation didn’t seem all too bad for Randm90 as he starts his campaign this season in the best possible fashion as he runs away with a 26 point haul from the Italian giant. Watto64 came home second and adronaught came home third, all benefitting from fuel dramas for Viperzed as his prancing horse couldn’t run any longer.
Randm90 Qual P1 Race P1:
Well that was a race and a half. Practiced only for a small amount of time for this race so I was not expecting a lot at all... But then in practice I set a 51 flat and I thought oh boy.... Suddenly in qualy I found even more pace and managed to gain 2 tenths giving me pole. Definitley a shock; but as it was Monza; I will take it with a grain of salt at circuit that is quite easy to master. The race was solid. I dropped a position at T1 and then at the second chicane I had a terrible run getting caught in gravel and by the first Lesmo I was in 4th place. I fought my way back up and through a collision and it all nearly went pear shaped. I broke at my normal 150m marker for the first chicane; the car ahead of me broke early so I clipped them; as this was happening Hatfield had his massive moment and I was completely sideways. I slammed the wheel with opposite lock and went what was looking to be the wall; however it was Hat that I hit as he was stuck in the wall; he saved me from the wall; thankyou Hat xoxo Well done on making the places back though Hat, excellent drive. The race went on and after a lap or two I had caught up with Cracken... He had very good pace but I kept catching. I would catch, I would make a mistake, i'd fall back, i'd catch up aaaand repeat. He was very good at placing his car so well done with what was an excellent defence......... while it lasted a bit too deep into Ascari and he decided to go to the beach, I broke early, and swooped through to take the lead. From then on I pulled what was a 10 second gap to 15 seconds; but then fuel saving put it back to about 13. Towards the end of my lengthy stint I was sliding through every corner... I dipped a wheel in the sand at Ascari.... I do not know how I didn't spin it there. After I pitted I made more time but by the last two laps the gap was closed to 12 seconds. It was an excellent race with a solid battle and a good win! I'm scared for next round being Sierra (As I think we all are) and the rest of the season will prove interesting dependent on practice.... Cheers guys! See you Sierra
Well done to everyone and to Mr Underfueler for getting fastest lap!

Round 2 for Division 2 would belong to BHR’s bmx_mtb_boy as he takes 26 points away from the countryside hills. Adronaughts second place allows him to jump into the title lead by a point ahead of Sierra’s race winner, after Randm90 had a disaster back in 10th place. NAACS made it to PRT cars on the podium as he begins his title aspirations after a rough opening round.
bmx_mtb_boy Qual P1 Race P1:
That was fun. Pole position was a nice surprise. First 3 laps of the race were quite busy with first getting a bad start and having to get back in the lead again. After that Adronaught and NAACS both battled each other as well as me for the first 3 laps. I probably spent almost as much time looking in the mirror as I did looking at the fuel guage. Bring on the next round.

Finally in Division 3, alovelycupoftea didn’t spill any tea on his way to the chequred flag at Monza, along with it a bonus point as well. SuperROOZ member Bluemoon came home second after placing his Ferrari on pole position in Italy whilst emmo46 took the final step of the podium at the Italian icon of a racetrack. 8 starters took to the grid in Division 3, showing throughout the field we have a great number of drivers still making the most of all racing platforms.
Sadly alovelycupoftea spilt too much champagne into his mouth on the podium and was unable to provide an interview, however he was said to be over the moon with the result.

Finally at Sierra in Division 3 it was finally Emmo46’s long awaited winless drought that came to an end as he took the chequred flag ahead of Easyprey007 and Harrison Johnson. Nearly 3 years since Emmo’s last victory, he was ecstatic with the result and burst onto the podium with a smile as big as Daniel Ricciardo.
Emmo46 Qual P1 Race P1:
I hadn't had a round win since season 10 in GT5 (about 3 years ago) so this win is very satisfying despite the absence of the top two podium getters from last week. I got pole with a PB of 9:23.5, made a good start, didn't spin in the first 3 or so minutes (rare for me) and then set fastest lap (9:29.9) and settled into a comfortable run home increasing my lead with almost every sector and finishing over a minute ahead, A dream run.
I had a couple of off track wobbles along the way but they only cost me about 4 seconds at most.
The quicker boys will be back next week for the sprint so I need a good result to keep in the battle for the championship.

That’s it for the first two rounds for the GTLOZ this time! Next up is the short yet tricky Red Bull Ring and Apricot Hill Reverse, one of the classics in the games franchise. Until next time….
