Gran Turismo 6 Season 10 Rounds 5-6
Posted on Wednesday 5th October at 2:17 PM

4 Rounds were all that was left on the Gran Turismo 6 calendar as the fleet of drivers and cars descended on the Ascari circuit for the first time in the leagues history. Many were happy to see it’s arrival, however it’s departure might be a little saddening as the series then moves on to the infamous Rome Street Circuit. Some of these cars being raced are priceless cars, true beautiful works of art. However, today they are going to be treated like they are not worth a cent! Thrown around corners on the very limit of available grip, coming within inches of a solid concrete wall that if you get too comfortable with, can bite in seconds. Who will Sink and who will Swim? Only one way to find out….

In Division 1 it was Warrior2167 who mastered Ascari with a 25 point haul to take away from a dominant night. B-Spec-Bob came home second to the reigning champion in a race that saw plenty of controversy. Lets-Party-1611 came home to complete the podium, but behind him there was some rivalries brewing, only adding to the intensity of these next two rounds! Many drivers fled Ascari following the drama and nobody was available for comment.

It looked to be a second hand on the trophy at the Rome Street Circuit for Warrior2167 with a fourth consecutive race win, and a fifth consecutive podium. Warrior notched up another faultless victory with 27 points coming away from the round to further extend his title lead over B-Spec-Bob. Bryan_F would finish the race second ahead of B-Spec Bob however, with the battle for second in the championship beginning to heat up in the final rounds!
Motorsports560:
Overall the racing was a success for me. Ended up 3rd in qualifying which was my best result for the season so far, Got a good launch off the line and was able to maintain position for the majority of the race. Battled Bryan for a large amount of the first stint and a slight mishap on my half which required a redress gave Warrior the gap he needed to cruise away to another easy win.
Second stint was a nightmare i put more fuel in the car than i needed to and lost track time to Bryan giving him an easy second my pace on mediums was appalling. Bob caught me easily and cruised on by with 3 to go. After that it was the case of holding onto a division 1b victory as Holdenman was charging up behind, Ultimately Holden ran out of laps and i ended up in 4th relieved i didn't have to drive on those rubbish mediums anymore.
It feels weird that this upcoming sunday will be my last competitive race on GT6. Yes i did mention earlier in a post i was considering calling it a day with the rubbish gt6 online servers and a game in which i've played for 3 years constantly. But now with myself upgrading to the PS4 console it will be my last race on GT6 so let's hope it's a good finish to a long 3 years.

In Division 2 we saw DRZ-Hatfield manage to take his first victory of the season at Ascari, putting him equal second in the championship as we leave the Endurance Round. He had of course tied in the championship after 5 rounds with Luckgoesmyway, who did not have luck go his way as he was left with the silver medal, still an amazing result in a daunting challenge of a race. Championship leader Bmx-mtb-boy held onto his good form, getting another podium to add to what is becoming a bit of a collection at the moment!
DRZ-Hatfield R1:
I hosted a room tonight and we all got in and had no sight issues and qually started on time.
Out of nowhere I bagged pole (apparently by about 0.1 of a sec according to Randm90)
Got a good start and kept on lapping... then realised the wear was on normal DOH
10mins wasted.
Restart went fine and pulled away with Randm close behind. He finally got past as the softs got quite worn and I retook the lead when he pitted a few laps earlier than me.
Came out and kept circling still in second until I caught randm. Passed him when he spun and pitted with a minute lead for the final stint.Luckgoesmywaywas then second with a gap of 25ish seconds and it stayed that way as I took the flag!
So tired after that one!

Division Two then headed away to Rome as they faced the daunting, always lurking concrete barriers lining the impeccably tight circuit. In the end it would be the top three in the championship who filled the end of race podium, led away by Bmx-mtb-boy who scored a lucky victory in a night where Randm90 had the field covered until another disappointing DSC. Luckgoesmyway finished 5 seconds adrift of BMX, with Hatfield following another 11 seconds back.
Luckgoesmyway Q5 R2:
Bad luck to Randm, you were in a class by yourself. As for me was 3 tenths of my best in qualifying putting me 5th. Got a pretty good start and was leading the medium guys. A few early mistakes didn't help as the gap to the soft runners increased. Pitted at the end of lap 12 for softs but took to long to adjust the fuel dump and lost valuable time just sitting there. Drove consistent but not fast times tying to look after the softs but Bmx had enough up his sleeve for the win. Second two weeks in a row now so I am happy with that in my first full season.

Division 3 was last to tackle the grass infields of the Ascari circuit, but the racing was intense throughout and after a gruelling hour and 35 minutes, the endurance round was declared Knuckles013 victory. A fantastic drive with Emmo46 less than 8 seconds back, with Bluemoon rounding off the podium.
Emmo46 Q2 R2:
Firstly, congratulations toKnucklesit was an excellent recovery from your early difficulties. It was an epic race for me, I actually had a surprising battle with Knuckles for pole. I thought I had it with a 2:11.1 until he unleashed a 2:10.8 or 9 to snatch it on the last lap. I started on SS and knuckles was on SM so I took the lead at the first chicane and set about building a lead. My heart rose when I could see thatBluemoonwas in second and I was increasing my lead. There must have been some incidents as my lead grew quickly and I was about 35 seconds ahead when I pitted for SMs. Knuckles used SMs as well for his second stint and he closed up some of the time in that stint. I pitted on lap 29 for my final set of SM and unfortunately for me lost a little time by putting about 20 litre too much fuel in then running into the sand at turn 2. I had about 29 seconds and felt hunted as Knuckles was now on SS and closing fast. I could see by the map that the gap back to third was big enough for me to have a spin and still finish second so I pushed as hard as I could to try and stop Knuckles from catching me. I lost time however by pushing too hard and ran wide at the right hander after the 1st timing marker twice. The inevitable happened and Knuckles cruised past me with about five laps to go and I nearly punted him off trying to stay with him. I thought it wise to give him some space but keep the pressure on as much as possible hoping he might error. He drove perfectly though and I eventually fell back from 4 seconds behind with on lap to go to over 8 seconds at the flag. I gave it everything I had and finished 2nd where I knew before the race was the best I could hope for. Knuckles race lap time was 1.2 seconds faster than I could manage and I feel good that I was only 8 seconds behind at the finish. The next two races are going to be very exciting, I need to get podiums to keep my lead in the championship.

Finally the Division made the trip over to Rome and were on the starting grid, with concrete walls all around waiting to bite. In the end, Knuckles013 made a great start from pole position, ran some fastest laps and ended up with yet another 9 second victory ahead of Emmo46. WOLFDADDY007 was third on the podium, however the biggest celebrations went to Emmo46, who at 68 years old, claimed a Raceonoz.com title. Simply fantastic!
Emmo46 R2:
I needed to get 2nd place or finish just one place behind knuckles to get clear in the points and cement the win in the championship.
After lots of practice for this event and really concentrating on getting a good clean line through the dogleg I was feeling confident.
A late Sunday afternoon practice run had me down to 1:13.4 and I was very happy with that as that was the pace I knew Knuckles had done although he may have done something quicker when I wasn't around. I even thought I might be able to give Knuckles a run for his money.
Once in the room for the race however I couldn't initially get up to speed. Once qualifying came the best I could do was a 1:13.8 to grab third on the grid, worryingly I had Wolfy between me and Knucks on Pole so I knew I had to get ahead of Wolfy unless he actually beat knuckles.
Knuckles and Wolfy both started on RM and my old sparring partner Moon was sitting right behind me in 4th and starting on SS the same as me (I knew the opening lap was going to be crucial).
I got a good start and managed to round wolfy up before the run around the colosseum and get right onto Knuckles tail. He covered the right hand corner onto the back straight as I moved to the outside but I managed to cut across the back of him and get a slight overlap heading towards the dogleg. I eased off to give him and I room and I was able to get a good clean run through there.
Knuckles moved to the right to cover the inside of the right handers and I was able to use my better grip to drive around the outside and take the lead into the left handers before the last turns.
I then tried to open the gap but that was proving more difficult than I thought it would be because Knuckles was very fast on the SMs and I knew immediately that he would be taking the victory once we swapped tyres. My main objective then was to secure the second place. Moon and Knuckles were my adversaries for that position and I was able to slowly creep away from Moon over the first stint and held that to the end after our stops. Wolfy was a different proposition though. I didn't see much of him after the first five laps or so but was aware that he would be on SS at the end of the race while I would be on SM. After my stop he was about 5 or so seconds behind me and I started to sweat. There was still about 8 laps to go and I was watching him like a hawk. Fortunately for me my fresher SM tyres were as good as his worn SS and I held the gap to him and came home in the planned for 2nd place. I was as ecstatic with 2nd as Knuckles probably was for the win.
I really love the old Ferrari and the choice of tracks really suited my style too. Sierra, RBR, Ascari and Rome were some of the most enjoyable races I've had.
It looks like it is back to a racing car again for next season and I generally don't do well in the higher powered cars. I'll be doing as best I can though.

So, as we head into the final round for two of the divisions, and two rounds remaining for Division 1, there is still plenty to play for. Everyone will be hoping to finish the season off strong, and there are still some championship fights to play out. Which way will they go? Only one way to find out! Until next time….
