Well its been official for a while now. So heres a place to post anything related to it. I for one will be giving it another go 3rd times a charm I say! At the very least hopefully we can see another ROOZ take it all out and join Matty!
I'll be having a crack as well - i've been following the news on it and while details have been limited and there's lots of speculation, here's what I know so far In Aus it will be based on live events only, running a pre release version of GT Sport on PS4 (locations and exact times not released yet) - there is no online time trial part of the competition like previous years Rough Timeframes August - Live Events September - Aus National Final (20 finalists) October - Silverstone Race Camp (top 6 finalists) Australia will be competing against - Indonesia, Mexico, North Africa (Algeria, Egypt & Morocco), Philippines and Thailand http://www.nissan.com.au/Discover/News/2016/June/15/NISSAN-PLAYSTATION-GT-ACADEMY-ENTERS-EIGHTH-YEAR
Guess Australia will be at the pointy end again. Unfortunately, a lot of it comes back to funding and whether Nissan local is keen for 2 Aussie winners. Still race camp would be an awesome experience!
Ineligible again... I think 2017 is 100% confirmed anyway so I'll be focusing on that I believe we can definitely get a 2nd ROOZer to win this year, would be awesome.
I have been told that the national final will be at Movie World on the Gold Coast again this year. Best of luck to all the ROOZers entering. Race Camp is well worth the effort..
These are the time frames for the Philippines GTA comp Recruitment / qualifying stage - June 30 to August 21 2016. National Finals - September 20 to 26 2016. Race Camp 2016 - October 21 to 30 2016 Since Aus will be competing against them, then you can guess that the National Final will be held at approx the same time to allow a month gap/preparation, and that the Silverstone Race Camp is locked in at end of October.
Would be interesting to ask @MINT_GTR does he know the reason for by passing the Dubai 24. Was it that the 2015 graduates were just that damn good ... was it a $$$ thing getting the team to dubai or something else
