Tonight we had round 3 of the OSR Development Series at the tight short circuit of Oulton Park Fosters.
Sam and Michael having season best qualifying results with Sam getting 2nd and Michael crossing the line with a time good enough for 21st.
Michael Kirkham got a good start passing a few cars on the opening lap, avoiding the mayhem that a tight track like this produces, getting up to 18th as he entered the pits, but as he entered the pits he missed the timing on the limiter slamming on the brakes to avoid getting a penalty.
This cost him a good 3 seconds in the pits as he came out 2 seconds behind the person he was battling with, but found himself still in 15th after the pit stops completed.
Michael continued his solid run to make up 2 more positions to finish 13th.
Sam had a good start holding on to 2nd into turn 1, Sam and the leader pushed each other to gain a 8 second gap over the group behind as the pits started, original strategy was to pit on lap 18, but Sam's engineer Ben suggested to stay out a little longer as he would have come out in heavy traffic.
This move would prove genius, as Sam came out with clean air and Sam found himself in the lead with a 6 second gap too 2nd place.
Sam drove the car at ten tenths for the rest of the race, battling through heavy lap traffic, with 3 laps to go the car in 2nd place had an off track excursion giving Sam massive relief and allowed him to cruise to victory.
Well Done Sam on his first V8 Supercars race win!
next week we move on too Laguna Seca
