I did run a few races with @Cherno in the practice server with the lotus 72D vs Ferrari 312T, in terms of a pure driving car season it was the most fun I had when I raced at xgn over 14 seasons or so. Was some good close racing but you also needed to battle the car to make it to the finish line, being not easy to nail every corner like the more modern cars ran in seasons. The seasons they ran after that were mixed Japanese pack r34, supra, 370 and rx7 with some ballast to even cars out also full season was reverse grid racing by championship standings. That was good fun actually with a mix of cars and the reverse grids making up for cars that were a bit bland to drive. Following that they went Masseratit GT4, then Praga R1 followed by 911 GT3 cup which were 3 seasons in a row nearly identical to each other and even though better cars were up for votes the same boring ones kept winning . The racing overall was quite boring as passing people close to your level is not likely unless someone makes an error and also where single make races to me get a bit boring. Even if in a 1 hour race you only have a 1-2 second gap to the car ahead or behind all race if there is no real chance to get past other then on pit strategy it kind of gets a bit like extended hotlap sessions. Then its just down to who can do this without error for a full race and 3 seasons in a row of that got a bit stale for me. A more challenging car to drive generally brings closer racing up front as you cant really push 100% all race every lap and do it without a reasonable mistake. It means people can push a little harder to catch up if needed and the guy leading not likely to be just doing boring hot laps to the finish. Having said all that I don't really want to get too involved in what cars are chosen here as that is how I came to not racing at xgn any more expressing too much of an opinion on the boring choices they made for seasons. I tend to prefer a few choices in cars if they are all potentially pretty close but done a bit differently. Track choice and maybe ballast or restrictor can help even out some cars but if there is clearly a car with an advantage at any track it really doesn't work too well. In a single make series a car that is more of a challenge will generally give better racing due to nobody being able to run a perfect race lapping within .2 of their best lap each lap.
I agree with @marty . When the car chosen is fairly easy to drive you can nearly pridict how the race will finish. Using myself as an example I found when the cars are more challenging to drive like the 787b last season it gave me a chance to compete with the faster drivers and I did.
Sick as a dog lads, won't be around tonight but put up more car and track ideas in the poll 2 thread.
