PCARS-2 [Completed] RTEC 2018 Round 1 - 80 Minutes of Fuji

The opening round of the 2018 RaceOnOz Team Endurance Championship takes us to Oyama, in the foothills of Mount Fuji, Japan.

80 minutes around the 16 turn, 4.563 kilometre Fuji International Speedway. Teams will be working hard to find a setup that performs well in the mix of high and low speed corners without losing out too much down the long front straight.

Our first taste of WEC style multi-class racing, a series that will test each team's ability to both prepare their cars and strategies, as well as their patience and risk management on the track.

Timetable for Saturday, 21st April 2018

• Weather settings announced by 5pm
• Official Practice, 15 mins: 7:15pm Sydney Time
• Official Qualifying: Approx 7:30pm Sydney Time, Game Time 10am, Time Progression 1x
• Official Race Start: Approx 8:00pm Sydney Time, Game Time 11am, Time Progression 5x

Confirmed Weather Settings

• Qualifying: Clear
• Race: All Clear

also, how are we going to get this rolling start underway?
a manual rolling start caused several issues for most the one time ive been in a room, where as a non manual start has everyone taking control of the car when the lights go green

I see 2 options, we would either need to switch to standing start, which has the potential to be hazardous if people aren't cautious. Or we could do starts like what we do for the 2nd race of a sprint round, have the 1st lap of the race as a formation lap.

when you check BOM on the day Benny, are you looking at the local Oyama weather or Sydney weather forecast?

test 1: manual rolling start with formation lap on
this worked well, tried it once. it has everyone single file at the beginning of the formation lap & seems to have a speed limit in place about 75mph (to be corroborated & confirmed!) all the way up to the 5 red lights & then green

test 2 @ daytona tonight, a non manual rolling start no formation lap, worked well also, no probs that anyone reported
