should we try to squeeze within 3 divisions? numbers tend to drop off after the first round.

With 48 100% verified entrants and up to another 14 un-verified entrants, 3 rooms / divisions just isn't manageable.

@Hatfield happy to be backup, i'm on nbn 50/25 via Internode, been rock solid ( as shown by my local splunk monitoring). Happy to do both but would appreciate a list of captain's duties, checklist etc.

I'd say that the speed test (tipping Ookla/speedtrest.net) chose a nearby server.

Don't get hung up on Ping, while it's a good indicator of network performance or usability, it's not the primary factor. Online gaming is sharing the internet with everything else on a network whose inherent design is a best-effort approach as opposed to a guaranteed on-time-first-time delivery approach. Gaming, a real-time network service, suffers from not only latency issues (of which ping is a factor) but also an efficiency problem - lot's of small packets sent at a high frequency to make they are delivered in a timely manner. Traditional services like web browsing, email etc can wait until all of their larger packets have arrived, whereas online gaming (and things like VoIP) can't wait and need their packet rapidly and in the correct order. Smaller more frequent packets also tend to stress network and data centre routers as they attempt to process the packets at a higher rate. And despite the promise of Quality of Service (QoS) not everybody has implemented it, nor in the same manner. We really need a dedicated gaming network.

Oh, and if you want to see a gnarly speed test check this out...from my desk at work this morning:
Ookla speed test to Telsatra Melbourne
    PIng: 1ms
    Down: 776.12 Mbps
Up: 927.69 Mbps (and that's rate limited by the network port switch I'm on)

I really should be gaming from here!

Yep, the advantage of a non-commercial dedicated research focused network. Your tax dollars at work.

    MEET N GREET BRIEF

This Sunday starts Season 6 with the Meet n Greet. It will be very helpful for final division changes if everyone who is able can attend.

The night should basically be quick-fire 5 lap races around each of the season tracks (1 lap for nur 24h) on RH tyres.

Could room Captains please save replays and send me the fastest lap screenshots from each race?

It seems we have a few drivers who could be out of place and with the way the top divisions are full it will make this a tricky puzzle to solve for us mods

As always, keep it clean and have fun
