In all honesty, I forgot all about the teams deal. I’ve never really been a team livery kind of guy. In saying that, at a quick look, it’s almost perfect for what I wanted hahahaha.
Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but what tools are people using to create SVG files for decals?
Adobe Illustrator is by far the best. I tried the other free ones, found them to be hit and miss. Do a google fu on how to install it for zip and you'll be off
I have a copy of Illustrator and no idea how to use it. Is there a way to take the files, like the .eps or even png/jpeg files and scale or resize to reduce the file size? I have a heap of decals that I want to resize so that I can use them. The online tools are not working for me.
The online tools blow. Best bet is to break the decal down into sections and join it together in game.
Hi @Slartybar, there are a number of techniques you can use in Illustrator to do what you want but probably too complex to explain via a post here. I've had success with a few tutorials found on YouTube and then once I've got the basic technique I've experimented with different settings to get the results I need. This one shows you the basics of using the Image Trace tool. You would then Save As... to an SVG file. Sometimes it's worth doing a Select All to see if there are any hidden elements you you can get rid of before saving as this will help reduce the file size. If your decal contains text, change the SVG save options to convert to outline rather than embed the font. If you've got Zoom and a headset etc we could possibly to a video call and screen share and I could walk you through some stuff.
Thanks for your help guys. I managed to get some done. I think the converted png file was very detailed and would take some time to clean it up and get down to the 15kb size
By chance is there a Demo1Garage logo around? I've had a look on the community site but couldn't find it.
Yep. Search under #demo1 #garage between 20/1/2020 and 25/12/2019. I just reposted them into my activity feed.
