Yea i struggled with tyre wear a bit - I ran soft/med/hard and my hards were dying badly at the end

I ran the same setup and my hards were at 50% with 3 laps to go before i binned it woulda got home on about 60% max. Same tyre strat as you too but i pitted a lap or 2 later than you.

Great race tonight and a brilliant War with Jono. Not sure i can call that just a battle!
For once i got a great Qualifying position on the front row alongside Seth as the polesitter, and my launch was great in comparison to him but not as good as the two behind me. It ended up as Three into One, and sadly on the very inside it was me who was escorted off the track by Seth leaving me to do a bit of rallycross.
Before Lap 1 was run and done, Seth went to visit the boys waiting for him on the edge of the Turn 8 ripple strip, killing his momentum and allowing me through to hunt down Jono who was about 8 tenths clear of us.
By Lap 3 i had maintained DRS range and was able to make large inroads on the Banana car, with Lap 5 being my time to pass Jono with ease down the front straight :D Only to be passed in identical fashion just 6 kilometers later.... :(
On Lap 8 we both pitted and i saw Jono had gone for the hardest compound and i immediatley knew i was in a spot of bother. I was on the mediums so naturally it wasn't too long before i caught up the 1.4 second margin that emerged from the stops. I once again got by with Ease and on the quicker tyre was able to hold position despite DRS, however that was the issue. Jono was able to stay within DRS which is huge around Catalunya and he hung onto me throughout the middle stint despite the tyre defecit, in fact on Lap 15 he got by me into Turn 1, however in what must be the most forceful counter-attack i've ever made, i threw a Lewis Hamilton on Nico Rosberg-esque move out of Turn 3, Jono pushing me right to the right hand side grass but i made the move work into T4, Thats how its done Mercedes ;)
I pitted earlier than planned to try and produce a large undercut whilst Jono was on the older Hards, in the hope i could build enough of a gap so the extra tyre wear from an extra 2 laps was managable. Sadly once Jono caught back up he made light work of me, even if i pushed him all the way across to the right on the front straight into Turn 1 in a desperate attempt to put him off the move.
Sorry for the extra long race report but i thoroughly enjoyed that one!
Well done to Jono on the victory, happy to see you take the win after the pace you showed in the first Four rounds, and i'm happy to be able to say i made you work hard for it! Well deserved, well driven, top class racing. Well done!
Probably won't see you guys for very long next week, i'll try not to bring out a Safety Car when i stuff the HAAS into the barriers at Casino Square!

I had to let you go when you went by due to my Ebay quality wing, lifted off and was hoping to just maintain my tyres but the 6 laps with half the wing gone was so costly and kicked me right out of the win, kinda sucks the tyres are so useless if anything happens damage wise you cant come back without killing tyres upping the pace. I could have pushed on to you 6 seconds ahead and have nothing left or just do a few 1:30's managing my abused rears which worked out to be a lot safer in the end.

Pirelli be dogging all the boys with this :):):):)ty rubber

Well I'm completely stoaked at that, I never expected to take the win at Catalunya of all places!

Since tyre life was a premium here, I honed my setup even more for tyre preservation, and boy did it reap the rewards. The aim was 3rd on the grid so I was glad to reach that target, but only just.

It didn't matter anyway as I got the perfect launch, and sped into turn 1 with the lead whilst Seth and Beau squabbled. To make my strategy work I immediately began looking after the tyres as consistent laps are worth more than a couple of flyers and then hobbling around as I discovered in China.

Seth chipped his front wing on me in turn 5 so Beau was to become my main challenger. I aimed to make the tyres last until lap 8, however when Beau passed me on lap 5 I had to fight back, and duly got back ahead a lap later. 2 laps later we were both in and this would shape the race. I opted for hards, Beau on the mediums. Being the first in was critical, as I could now set about trying to win in the slowest time possible.

I knew the mediums were a bit finicky with wear, so I looked after the hards to allow myself to defend hard from Beau once he caught me. The idea was to wear his tyres out which seemed to work, whenever he passed me I'd stick right on his tail. The battle reached its climax on lap 15 where we fought tooth and nail for the position, easily the most white knuckle racing I've experienced on this game and with no contact. For the skeptics, this is what you call RACING!

Beau came in much earlier than I thought he would on lap 18, where for the next 6 laps I was pushing hard to keep the gap up. This meant though I had to pass Beau to win, however. I had a fresh set of mediums waiting for me and so with only 8 laps to go, I had no worries about preservation. The advantage was all mine. Rather unconventionally I passed Beau around the outside of La Caixa, followed by a trumpet of yeeha's and woo's from my voice box. But it still was not done, Beau had another go into turn 1 and got around my outside as we lapped Hat, but my superior grip in turn 3 sealed the deal. A race for me which summarised why there is no substitute for Formula One.

Massive congrats to Seth on his phenomenal pole lap, but even more to Beau on the incredible scrap, what song was that in the video? Love it! I encourage you all to watch the lap 15 battle duel from both mine and Beau's videos at the same time. How could you not want to be a part of this? A 12 car field was a damn shame, with 22 you could have this in multiples. I haven't had a scrap like that since the glory days of GT6 which sadly was a long time ago. I'm just glad I've found a game which has made me fall in love with online racing again.

It's definitely game on in the championship now, 4 winners in 5 races, plus with Monaco next anything can happen. I can't bloody wait. I also have a special surprise coming in store for you all later this week, I think you're going to like it.

    Cheers, Jono.

Congrats. Monkeys off his back, look out boys.

Apart from the first corner where i was able to basically stop to avoid car damage, just touched someone on way through only because i wanted to make sure 2 wheels stayed on track. Lost a few possies im devastated i forgot the damn record button. Was a tiny bit of lag crap going on chasing down @Hatfield at the start so had to be careful with where to overtake. @Half-Byte was struggling with ridiculous understeer, good thing you can talk to your team mate during race to know what's going on. @bennyracer if you recorded any of yours would be cool to see the vid of the last laps when you come through the field.

    My race report

Qualifying: - P5 - I started out aiming for a 1 stop Med/Hard strategy, so I ran a few laps on the mediums, but made a couple small errors and was down a whole second from where I would have wanted to be, plus the tyre wear was more than expected. So I rushed back out on a set of softs to try and get up the grid a bit further - Was down a few tenths still on where I would have liked to be - on the 2nd or front row, but it wasn’t too bad.

Race - P4 - I got a good start and somehow missed the Sauber sideways across the track in front of me at turn 1 and was away in P4 behind the squabbling leaders. I made a couple of small unforced errors on high fuel load and started to drop back from Seth. After I pitted for mediums I made a couple of DRS passes on a few backmarkers and my team mate was mirroring my strategy, only a lap behind. After we pitted for Hards for the final stint I had to let Zharvs through who just had more pace on the hards than I was willing to give it at that stage as I was trying to conserve a bit. After all the stops were done, I was trailing zharvs and sitting in P5 with the gap out to around 6 seconds. Knuckles and Benny started to close up behind and were putting the pressure on, so I turned up my engine up as i had excess fuel and set about holding them back for the last 10 laps or so. Benny finally got passed knuckles and he was all over my gearbox with my hards starting to go off. We jumped zharvs when he had a late accident/puncture so I moved into P4 and was intent on holding it to the end and scoring some decent points this week. I just concentrated on getting good exits in the DRS zones and not making any mistakes to hold him off through the rest of the lap. It was a great battle all the way to the end.

People don't know what they're missing out on, 5 weeks of the most enjoyable racing I've had since I joined ROOZ.

I struggle to understand how we still get such strong numbers on GT6 yet we can't even get 22 people on an F1 grid. In every aspect I can think of, this just kills GT6: car physics, tracks, pit strategy, tyre wear, car setups, wheel feedback, online stability, yellow flags, safety cars...

If it's double point's final round of each leg i'm gonna stab somebody :roflmao:
Song in my video was Sound of Madness by Shinedown by the way. I recommend the band as a whole, State of my head, diamond eyes, second chance and black Cadillac are all brilliant!

I think I made the most spots from my grid position so I guess I get driver of the day for Spain!

Nah no double points crap. It's on the comedic side of things.

That's a good idea Hat, in fact lets make it official right now!

From this round onwards vote for your driver of the day here, and just like real F1, the winners receive nothing but a boosted ego!

My vote goes to Seth for holding onto a 3rd depite losing his front wing on lap 1.

    Hmmm alright

The only problem is you can only have options of up to 10, a bit tricky in this situation

    Ok Race Report:

Started off strong sitting in 5th for the first 2 laps while battling severe understeer and very slippery soft tyres... for some strange reason. At about lap 3 on the sweeper had nothing to blame but myself for putting my left rear wheel on the grass which then caused me to swerve into @Hatfield (sorry) lost my front wing which the. Sent me into the pits and now 1/2 a lap down. Then (thinking I'm playing GT6 at this stage) thought I was driving manually out of the pits and then sent myself into the wall on pit exit. Lol
