Cool. May have weather on but nothing too extreme. Will see. And feel free to get other drivers involved so we can have a larger grid.

I like that idea. Maybe do a support race 10 lap dash type thing before the big one

And make them 550 pp, any upgrades except aero incase you want to use a standard car, to keep it fair

The big race is fairly long already and will take about an hour and three quarters to 2 hours. Getting organised for a support race could make it a long night.

I think we should allow tuning at stock pp/hp/weight though. The falcon understeers really badly (lots of grip at the rear) on stock settings.

As long as you share your tuning I think it would be OK. i for one don't have enough time before this to stuff around trying to find a good tune, front aero would be a good start I guess but then roll bars etc might take some time to get right.

    I can do friday!
Sunday is a bit more complicated as sailing season starts and might have trouble getting home by 8:00pm eastern time.

I am okay with tune, or no tune, but BMX is right, the XR8 does have a bit of understeer without tuning.

Here are two excellent XR8 tunes for 600pp at stock weight. There is very little between them time wise, with both having strong points. The first is my tune, the second is a tune provided by a TRL driver (using my tune as a base point) who is a brilliant tuner.

    Aggressive.

My senior colleagues in V8 supercars say they understeer in general so it's normal. The base tune is fine as is, you just can't drive it like a GT500. Too much grip is likely due to RS tyres because the real tyres are more like RH.

Your senior colleagues would also know as friends of mine do that Bathurst requires RS tyres and that is the compound used in V8 supercars there. (Even developing a softer compound over recent years just for Bathurst)
The XR8 stock understeers on entry like a bus on RH at Bathurst.
The XR8 stock on RS still understeers on entry, but it is not ridiculous.
The reason is not rear grip as such, it is the stock set up, massive camber, toe etc
Even with the set-ups on RS it still understeers a bit, but to remove it all you would then be dealing with an oversteer snap on exit. Lesser of two evils is the route taken with the two tunes especially the TRL tune.

    :poop: it isn't real?!?!?
Reality is just an illusion caused by a lack of alcohol or drugs or GT6

even if it understeers with stock set up. Everyone has to deal with it so what's the matter?

    • There is no such thing as a softer compound just for Bathurst.
    • The series uses 2 compounds that are "soft" and "super soft" in name only.
    • Bathurst uses the same compound as Philip Island and Pukekohe i.e. the harder compound.
    • The only change in tyres this year are the width/shape and construction of the tyre.
    • Reason for the change in tyre specs for Bathurst is due to new 2017 construction going pop at the island, so they are reverting to the older 2016 construction this year.

I would be quite happy to race without tuning to save the hassle of setups. The car has some understeer but around Bathurst it isn't a big problem. It is quite stable and will produce a good race.
