prior to the race I couldn't get below a 2:04 on softs but
@KeedenMcdonald gave me some pointers and I went into qualifying and hit a 2:02! I was stoked and lined up outside the top 10 lol
A full div 1 grid for round 1, what a dream, and I was a part of it.
Started ok and got through a little bit of lag
@razor4797 was throwing around to settle into the train behind
@Bryan_F and with
@Russell &
@Knuckles close behind.
Managed to pass bryan and was catching a
@Mustafur vs double BHR battle when bryan & knuckles pitted on lap 9.
I had to pit since the undercut would only get larger and I came out just behind bryan and in front of knuckles. I started to reduce the gap to bryan and as I went for a move into T1,
@JonoStan96 was coming out of the pits and the space quickly reduced and there was contact, with jono coming out in front and me following.
I had to put pressure on jono before he could come to grips with the soft tyre, and he was all over the road until he ran wide slightly into the sand which unfortunately for him, cost him 3 positions.
I couldn't believe it... 4th position in div 1.... but I wasn't sure I could hold it.
@StigsTC had a decent gap in 3rd until he made an error and it reduced to about 4 secs, but he quickly pulled away again. My real focus was on
@Captain_Risky_21 closing the gap behind. He finally caught me with about 2 laps to go and with his fresher tyres, he put the pressure on. I had to drive defensively for the rest of the race and I just managed to keep him behind.
On the final lap at the last chicane, jono joined the battle as risky went for the inside, but I kept the nose in front and crossed the line for my best ever finishing position in a Gran Turismo Sunday League race!
