With season 2 of the pCARS 2 league just around the corner, it’s time to revive the tips and tricks thread for what will be hopefully 3rd time lucky at achieving a whole season of hot laps, nonetheless this is an open thread for all who need it.
Post your questions in here and someone (maybe me) will pull an answer from thin air, like a rabbit from a ha... but more helpful. Tune in each week for a hot lap of the coming rounds track, helpful if you don’t know the track, you’re struggling for pace or simply want to see what some good lines are (I hope I have good race lines by now :confused:)
It’s exactly the same as last season....but for this season!!!!

    Auto clutch off!!
A quick video of me using the auto clutch off/on mapped to a wheel button. I don’t have a clutch pedal and I’m just using paddles to shift. This has gained me about 3-4 tenths and should keep you on a level playing field with ppl using a clutch or h shifter.

    Nice vid mate.

You don't need to keep turning it on or off though, those that left foot brake (which most of us do I would think) can blip the throttle on down changes to keep from compression locking. I was doing this anyway as I didn't like how much the auto clutch was doing it so I was adding to it so to lose it completely didn't make it any worse. Also can add some time in the braking as you can dictate if you want the rear to lock slightly to hook the car round.
Main thing is to practice a lot for it the before the weekend as you don't want to be learning a new driving style in the race :) Guess it may come easier to me with the whole motorbike thing as we all learn to do that from day dot cause if you don't it'll spit ya off.

This would be safer than switching it on and off as in the heat of battle you will forget and do a big loopy loo.

I’ve only decided to start throttle blipping this round and it’s a big help into T1, braking where the wall changes on the right....hard on the brakes doesn’t stop but with a button if throttle and a couple of cars to bounce of it seems tonwork

Safest option for me is button to turn off and on as I've never learnt to blipp throtte. It' pretty easy to learn as muscle memory kicks in with anything so you just have go choose your preferred method

Will be a lot of button presses over a race doing that,
I taught myself to blip the throttle Saturday night before Sunday’s race last week, now it just comes naturally and don’t even think about it,

What you gained in t1 will be lost in the slipstream on the straight.

I don’t get what you mean Poppin. It’s not just a gain in turn 1, it’s in every gear change.

Just mean it’s basically gonna be a nascar style race with the amount of slipstreaming going on. If your within half a second on the final turn you will catch back up each lap

Texas track guide - no video this week.

Tyres - The tyres will last the entire race so my advice is DON’T change them. I did in a practice race and lost a heap of time.

Pit stops - Practice your pit entry and don’t come straight in off the banked turn as you could spin into the pits and that could cause issues.... like a DQ.

Auto clutch - Even if you only have paddles and no clutch peddle, map this to a button and use for the main straight as you will get a boost to your shift times and keep you in-touch with others. Be careful when downshifting, either turn auto clutch back on or blip the throttle.

    Cheers

I lost more time just thinking about pressing the button, with it turned off completely its hard to get the revs right without being able to hear the engine revs well enough or feeling the vibration as you would in a real car, so its a no go from me.
Does save a tenth or two down the straight
