    Another round down!!
    Pre-Race
After the MnG horrible racing we faced here, I knew that I would need to do some practice to even be in the mix, let alone competing for a podium finish. I think I finished last in the MnG!!.
Through the week, I managed to get some small sessions in and dropped my times from 3.02 to 2.56. Felt pretty good with that. Additionally, this was a race I had to win to keep my nose in the hunt for the championship. My first chance with a real shot!!

    Qual
Horrible Qual from me. Well the first 3 laps were anyhow. Binned it too many times to count. Luckily I nailed it on the last lap and came home .054 in front of a fast finishing @Cameron Neane for another NLR lockout!!

    Race
Knowing that overtaking was going to be tough here, I knew that a good start would be the best thing to achieve and I got off to a decent start, but nothing like @T F Eccles . He owned the start coming from 5th to overtake me by the first corner!!
Luckily I had a good exit on the 2nd corner and rode his slipstream and over took on the 3rd. And that was the end of 'racing' for me.
From here on in, it was just a matter of slotting in good solid sub 2.58/2.57 times and not making any mistakes. Which I managed to do. Nabbed the FL on the 2nd lap!! However Nemo, stole the FL from me on lap 5 or 6.
I pitted on 7 as planned with a nice 14s gap to 2nd.
Came out just behind @Cameron Neane who didn't pit on 7. I was 2s behind down the first straight, but he binned it on the 3rd, allowing me to sail on past and retake the lead.
From here everyone else started to pit and the gap just grew. I focused on retaking the FL to really apply the pressure for the championship and managed to just break it a lap or so later. Next lap, smashed the crap out of it by .5 of a second to bring home a 2.55.4, a PB :)
By now the damage to the gap was well beyond 30s, so for the last few laps I relaxed a bit and ran some tidy laps to bring home my 2nd victory of the season!!

If my maths are right, this puts me 3 points in front with 1 round to go (not counting drop round).
Drop round removed gives me me a little bit of breathing space, increasing the gap to 7.
For Nemo to win, he must come first, with pole and FL and I must finish 3rd or lower. If I come 2nd, we draw!! If we draw, likely Nemo will take the title as he has had more wins over the season than me.

Kudos to @Tristan Jones for bringing home 2nd and @Cameron Neane for 3rd.

@bzerks - I hope that you had a good first race with us. Keep in mind Lap 1 braking points and you'll do well in future races, not creating errand torpedoes of @scottb721 !! :)

Really looking forward to Interlagos, but also not looking forward to it as I hate this track. About the same as I did as St Croix C, before I began to practice it.

    THE RACE IS ON!!

Didn't think I'd finish 4th with my pace but I'll take it. Not a fan of the track, hard to learn and easy to forget. Sorry to Nemo for bumping you from behind, you were stuttering back and forth on my screen due to lag but good to see you made your way up to the podium.

Thanks for the shout out @Matthyus. @Tristan Jones asked in a separate thread how I manage such a great start and could I repeat it?

Truth be told it was a bit of a fluke. As the 5 start dots appeared on screen my left foot slipped off the brake pedal onto the clutch. In the panic to get reset I got off the throttle to avoid a false start, reapplied brake then brought the throttle up slowly to approx 75% just as the lights went. Released brake and floored it a timely manner (I'm reluctant to say at the same time because I'm not sure) and it hooked up perfectly, no wheel spin and away.

I then held second to lap 5 but @Tristan Jones was gaining fast and being a relative rookie missed a braking marker due to the distraction, spun and dropped back to 4th. Was happy to stay there until lap 7 when I had another brain fart in the final sector and ended up in last. Worked my way back up to finish 7th.

    Yay my second podium!

Congrats to all, hard track to get the hang of with anything less than an hours practise - so many corners, and plenty of long half throttle bends. I had 3-4 practise sessions and was still lapping at 3:02 before my sunday lunch practise - then I hit 3:00.2, with 2:58.2 optimum and the times came down from there. I hit a pb 2:58.5 on my first qually lap, binned my second lap then 2:57 on my third - gotta love pb during qually! After seeing everyone elses pace was surprised that I managed to get to 3rd on the grid. These long tracks really even out a field - you can be quick in one section, the next driver be quicker somewhere else. I thought I was gaining on @Easyprey007 - but there were two corners before the bridge every lap he added 0.5 to the gap on front of me - but I was gaining it back towards the end.

I got away to a good start off the grid - but @T F Eccles had a flyer! Was thankful for the practise I had done, being able to hold my position - the few other times I have started at the pointy end there is usually an early mistake or two that let me down and puts me back to midfield. So I get confident and start pushing into the corners...push too far and scramble to stay on track - Easy took advantage and overtook. I got a good run onto the straight and took him back next lap - but felt he was faster, and that he would be back. I decided to just play conservative, that not making mistakes would be the way to at least keep my position - though I figured Nemo would come climbing up those positions before too long! After a tight battle, Colin made a mistake and I breathed a sigh of relief - though thought, like Easy...he will be back.

Then I noticed how close @Cameron Neane was getting! He stayed nice and close for a while, then under pressure...knowing he is well faster than me, I tucked in on a corner in case he was flying by - but i overshot the corner, and he went past anyway. I chased, thinking perhaps I do have a chance at keeping up. I made another couple of small mistakes, but was still keeping pace better than I thought I would. I saw Johnno pit at lap 7, knowing I would be pitting at 7 or 8. When Nemo didn't pit, I thought I would match him. Next lap when he pitted, he came out 10 seconds ahead of me - I wondered if he had just lapped faster than me, or if he didn't take fuel, surely this is race over? We were all in good ol party chat, so I asked him...and found he didn't take tyres! Woohoo - I thought I really do have a chance now, of both catching him on old tyres, or from making a mistake on old tyres. To my delight I gradually started chipping away at the 10 second gap down to 8, then down to 6 - then with a few laps to go, I hear Nemo cry "oh no"...my first thought was he crashed...he was still plenty in front of me but I could see him on straights, didn't see a crashed Nemo ahead...then found at 1.5 laps to go he had 1 lap of fuel. So he was in the same boat as Le Mans - he was in front of Johnno when he found himself short of fuel with laps to go - he must have started fuel saving, because the gap shrunk again quickly - it was only in the last half of the last lap that I got very close. He must have some great pace to be keeping in front of me on old tyres and trying to conserve fuel!

I got a good exit from the corner after the bridge - just like overtaking Easy, i thought I will go for it straight away - glad I did, Nemo darted across, in defence/ denying slipstream or getting out of my way? Either way, we dragged down the straight - I figured I would get him here if he wants to save fuel -was glad to see him tuck in behind, but was wary about the aero boost he would be getting - maybe he will have one last dive? He pulled out and took the inside - thank god I saw him hit the brakes an instant before me and pull back out of sight, I knew how far my tyres would let me go. I managed to hold the lead, and I think the better tyres helped me accelerate away to a nailbiting last minute of the lap - what a race!!

I'll admit I watched that last straight a few times to work out how on earth I managed to hold the lead through that corner at the end of the straight!

In other news, we have a few possibilities of championship final standings after drop round is taken into account - this next race will decide it!

@Matthyus needs to beat @Cameron Neane to win, if Nemo wins he would also need PP and FL to draw with Johnno, he might sneak in the championship with the greater number of wins @emmo46? Still, if something unexpected happens and both of them aren't on the podium, Nemo needs to finish 6-8 positions ahead of Johnno to take the title. They are both assured of finishing 1 and 2 though!

@Easyprey007 said he isn't racing, so if I get 9 or more points (7th) I can take third. That assumes, however, that I am not beaten by @Green Terror, @fezza or @scottb721.

Green needs 8 points more than me to beat me into 4th, and 2nd or better in the race to get to third in the championship. If he wins the race I need 2nd, or 3rd with PP and FL to keep third in the championsip. If he gets second, I need 4th in the race to keep 3rd place.

Fezza needs 16 points more than me to get to third - if he wins, I need to get 7th or better to keep third.

Sooby needs 23 points more than me to beat me - a long shot, he would have to win and I get 14th, and he would get 4th behind Easy - and would still be chasing Fezza and Green.

Share Factory is what I use.
Aimed for shorter / quicker paced cuts to hopefully get my 'highlights' videos down to a highlight length :)

Thanks @emmo46 - It took a bit of practice, but it showed that practice means a ton.

No protests last round, so thank you to all for respecting each other!

Also thanks again to PAGNIAN for providing the prizes for the last season of the year, 2 x Wheelstand lites valued at $199 each !
Remember you must race and complete 4 of the 7 rounds to be eligible for the PAGNIAN prize draw at seasons end.

    ROUND 7 :
    Autódromo De Interlagos - 34 laps - 09:30 Sunny - 25/11
    [IMG]

As always please take 2 mins to read the following so you have an understanding of what is expected on race night......If you have any questions, or want clarification on any of the rules or regs please ask !

ROOM OPEN : Most room captains will 'try' to have rooms open by about 7:50 AEDT. Please be on time, or let the room captain or div thread if you may be late. If all agree, the room may wait for you, Within reason. Please remember we have drivers from NZ, and later starts mean a much later night for them.
    QUALIFYING : 8:20 AEDT
RACE START TIME : 8:30 AEDT

LAG ISSUES / ROOM RESTARTS : This is up to the room host. If there is a Disconnection (or cars stuck on grid) at race start, it is sporting to try to get them back in, which may mean a new room to be set up. I always look at 1 or 2 starts if required due to DSC, but as it gets later everyone needs to be aware of getting things going. Please be as reasonable as you can with this....
SIGHT ISSUES: Ensure that you can see everyone on track. After qualifying, exit to lobby and spend 30 seconds in spectate mode, scroll through the list of drivers on track and make sure that you can see their car. If you can't see somebody (and they are confirmed as being on track), exit the lobby, re-join, and check again. It can also be done pre-qualifying to save time if there is no chance of latecomers.

FALSE START CHECK : Please note that the start type is Grid Start with False Start Check
Please practice this so you know what to expect. Simply, you hold the brakes on until the lights go from all lit, to none lit

TURN 1 LAP 1 : This has the potential to ruin someones night if we don't use our heads ! Should be everyone's goal to get through the first phase with ZERO contact. Give room and run in your 'lane' till you have space to run the normal race line. This is especially dangerous in our Group C Monster. Turn 1 & 2 is a bit of a squeeze like last round but does have run off to leave more room if required. If your unassisted tap causes someone to spin, you need to redress.

TRACK LIMITS : As we are running with 'track limit penalties" OFF, we will run with our usual Raceonoz track limit regulations. This means you MUST have at least 2 wheels on the ripple strip OR white line that defines the track limit. If you do make a mistake and have to run outside the limits, be aware that you are not allowed to gain any advantage.
Turns 1-7 all have areas which can be exploited so please be mindful not to gain advantage.

CONTACT : Is to be avoided at all times..... If you rear end someone and gain an advantage, YOU ARE EXPECTED to give the spot back. Side by side 'rubbing' is racing, within reason, but all drivers are expected to give racing room.
If you bump someone and they end up off track or teleport back to the corner entry, you must wait for them to rejoin and get back up to speed.
Show each other RESPECT! It is difficult enough to drive this car at the limit on your own, without someone squeezing you within a millimeter of the grass.
So be patient and show respect to your fellow driver and enjoy that screaming GrpC engine when it hits those beautiful notes

TYRES : You must start on the Racing Super Soft Tyre. After that, any Racing Tyre is allowed.

PIT ENTRY : Drivers MUST make an attempt to use the pit entry / exit lines.
PIT EXIT : Please use the pit exit lane and be aware of cars approaching down the straight.
The pit entry/exit is on the racing line so all drivers please be aware.
    NOTE: Pitting is NOT compulsory

BLUE FLAGS : Please observe blue flags, and move out of the way of faster cars if you are being lapped. Failure to observe blue flags WILL result in a penalty

STEWARDS GROUP AND RACE PROTESTS : This season the stewards will be will be @Hatfield @JonoStan96 @Viperzed & @emmo46. If you have reason to protest, please SAVE YOUR REPLAY, and then let us know via a PM.
DO NOT BLOW UP IN THE FORUM OR IN THE ROOM CHAT. There have been multiple incidents where the replays from drivers have been different, so its true that sometimes things are not as black and white as they may seem. You have until MIDNIGHT, Monday night to register your protest via PM. We will ask for video evidence from both drivers or room captain to make any decision.

SAVE YOUR REPLAY : If the room host can ask all drivers to save their replay would be good before exiting the room.....once they exit out and the option goes, it cant be retrieved !

FINAL NOTE: Could all drivers please confirm their attendance for this Sunday by 'liking' this post in your division. If you are unable to attend, please post in reply as much in your division. This way we can figure out our reserves in advance.
