GT Sport Season 9 Incident Reports

This thread will be used by mods from the Stewards Group to post Incident Reports which have been resolved.

Description: Contact between @Dermott Brereton & @OZIMO-TUBBY_85

Decision: 5sec penalty to both drivers

Explanation of Decision:

• ozimo was given the penalty for making contact with dermott through the left hander after losing the rear end and the contact putting dermott into the wall
• dermott was given the penalty for making contact with ozimo the corner prior which pushed him onto the grass
• the late pass into T1 - stewards believe dermott would have made the corner and ozimo was unsuspecting of a pass, and left the door open
• the sudden movement to block on the straight was considered unsporting

Description: Tyre compound issue with @Dermott Brereton
Decision: Disqualified from results. Dermott used RS twice, which is fine, however he pitted at the end of the final lap for RM which is not and is classified as not using the RM tyre.

Decision: Disqualified from results. Yoshi qualified on RS tyres, but changed to RM for the race start.

Description: Pitting during qualifying @Viperzed
Decision: Official Warning. Viper had completed qualifying on the RS tyre and quit to pits. Tyre compound was not changed, and no following laps were completed on new tyres. Explanation given to stewards is acceptable, however the pits are closed and this will not occur in future.

• into T1 macneil brakes a little too late, and x3r brakes a little later again

Description: Pitting during qualifying @FSR_DB007
Decision: Official Warning. DB007's is that it was habit from FIA qualifying and he immediately realised his mistake and did not attempt anymore timed laps. Tyre compound was not changed, and no following laps were completed on new tyres. Explanation given to stewards is acceptable, however the pits are closed and this will not occur in future.

Description: Multiple incidents of contact between @xlxy90 & @groover33 (and one with @Winson Wong )




Decision: 5 sec penalty to @xlxy90 for incident 2. Official warning to @groover33

Careless driving - redressed incident @groover33
Explanation of Decision:

• xl gets a great run in the esses to put the car down the inside, but he doesn't run over the kerb as per his normal racing line and indeed does look to be pushing groover wide. (this was the penalty to xl)(appeals decision: What I do see is xl deserving a penalty if there was no redress for using groover like a wall around the corner)
  
• bumping while side by side on the straights was not blatant. racing incidents
• groover didn't leave enough space on the inside of the final lap incident when he turned in and the result is unfortunate that he spun. racing incident
• (appeals decision on the redressed incident: Neither driver could see the other from bumper view before they collided. groover went off and safely reentered holding a tight line. xl was a bit naive to turn in that hard thinking groover wouldn't still be there. Technically groover had track position being in front then on the inside as they go side by side into the turn.)

Explanation of Decision:

• gtking made an error into the corner and missed the apex, which in turn didn't leave enough room to travel through the corner side by side with macneil and contact caused macneil to spin

Decision: Official Warning for video 1 to @Cameron Neane . Video 2 dismissed.
Penalty Table reference: Careless driving - redressed incident
Explanation of Decision:

• Warning in video 1 for the redressed incident, nemo hits incey off track but redresses the pass
• video 2 nemo brakes late and makes contact with incey at T2. Incey runs wide but nemo does not make a passing attempt. The following corner, incey brakes a little too late and runs wide allowing nemo to pass.

I have been made aware that the stewards team does not provide an explanation of the penalties handed out (or not) in complicated incidents.
I have updated this seasons complicated incidents with some explanation and the stewards team hope to continue this in future seasons

Description: Contact between @HSVDT_15 & @Ozglenn

Decision: Racing Incident
Explanation of Decision:
Oz gets alongside heading to the corner
Oz gets ahead under brakes
Oz and Hsv make contact
Oz had the lead at the corner and sufficient room was left on the outside.

Murph is on the outside at the prior turn and has a slower exit than matthyus and Oz
Oz gets alongside but moves left before turning right into the corner
This movement results in contact knocking murph off track

Explanation of Decision:
max gets slight overlap on dazza ahead
by the time they get to the braking area, the overlap has not increased and as dazza turns into the corner max has not yielded
stewards agree max is not far enough alongside to contest the corner
contact causes dazza off track
