Here's my built on a budget of whatever wood was available rig, it's just a basic frame.

Noooo...that can't be right! there should be hoses filled with blue liquid, sparking generators and a cryogenic chamber with liquid nitrogen flowing out of it!!

image.jpg image.jpg This was the last rig I built for a mate of mine, the new one will probably be similar to this design with a few refinements.

Comfort has always been a priority for me when building these driving rigs because I tend to spend a few hours at a time in them, I find that the low seat hight works well although I do plan to raise the seat by 100 mm for this one just to reduce the angle of my foot on the pedals a little bit. IMO the distance between the face of the pedals and the face of the wheel is very important. For me about 600mm works well ;)

It's just a lot of sketches on paper ATM but I can draw something up with the dimensions when I've finished as it will probably change a little along the way

Some dude had a Playseat F1 and G27 combo for sale in SA for $500 on Gumtree!!
Brand new too, apparently bought it for an old bloke who couldn't get in and out because of reclined seating position.

Any SA lads, jump on that!!

Here's my "Ultimate comfort" race rig:
    new cockpit 007.JPG
Brings new meaning to the term "Armchair Racer",LOL.It keeps me comfy for my 6-7hr friday/saturday night sessions, but i do have to thank my wife for letting me build it in the lounge room! Materials are a 70's armchair:rolleyes:,a kids bedroom CRTV cabinet, with the video shelf removed & used as the wheel mount,a 6'x2.5' coffee table top, and the dismantled drawers from another old lounge room TV cabinet for the keyboard platform. It's on it's 4th rebuild, but there won't be a 5th,i'm finally happy, lol.:D The only things i bought are the 4 L-plate brackets to mount the riser section for the wheel,$4.95 at Aldi, and the screws,$6.95 for a box of 100 that i only used 30odd of!
The reason i persevered when Mk 1 broke mid-race,after only a week? I decided i'd rather save the money to spend on wheel upgrade(done),brake pedal upgrade(done),Buttkicker type device(done,Aura lumbar rumble pack), a better PC & graphics cards(next), & then multiple monitors or a curved screen projector. After that i'd get a proper cockpit, but only so that i could get a six post hydraulic ram rig after that to mount it on!!!!:p:p:pGot to have some sort of goal as the reason to practice, climb the i-racing ladder & win CASH!!!!!

Yeh,especially with the red bull at high speed. You can keep your FFB on 10 if you reduce the toe settings, from 50 to 30 in RBx 2010's case.i don't know how much on other cars but if start at 2/3rds you'll be close. If you're using a DFGT i don't recommend using strong arm tactics to hold it steady,it made a bigger dead spot on my DFGT in the centre, taking a big chunk of sensitivity with it:(
