Well done Greg, another solid performance. I hadn't done any practice for 2 weeks, didn't have time to set wheel up (was using d-pad controller) and my first laps were at 7:15pm so was suprised to do a 35 in quali as my car was still set from road America. Started all right sitting behind Greg and was just kicking back to conserve tyres, but coming into turn one the car went from 5th to 2nd gear and compression locked me off the track. Got back on in front of beakeroo and going into last corner I copped a 10 sec penalty even though Id breaker way earlier than normal, but I must of glitched as beakeroo pushed me off track even though he never touched me. Then going onto to main straight slip steaming Ads I pulled out to go past, and half way down Ads car wobbled ( not his fault) and I tapped his back end and off I went. Pretty much race over as tyres were done from the spin and the car was damaged. Then I copped a huge wack towards he end so just parked it as car was too damaged and didn't want to get in the way of any of the leaders.
@vh_mik I thought something strange happened to you, as I went past your car seemed to flicker a couple of times.
Again I am sorry missing tonight's race. Will be back next week. It's not like I would be worrying the points table anyway
To be honest I wasn't looking forward to this track with all the negative posts about it leading up to the round, I had zero practice, and was a little worried about tyre wear I got in the room pretty early on and just putted around to get a handle on the track just slowly increasing speed as I gained comfort. Started with 1.51s, and worked my way down to 1.42s in practice. During the race I believe I pulled a 1.41, slow I know but I had a good run with @HIGGS and @Sideiron7 for the majority of the race. I was running well in the first few laps with @Rocketrod and @Peuty bit of rubbing between all three of us but it was good fun with all of us yielding when necessary , I eventually made a solo mistake lost some time and just couldn't make it back up on the guys I enjoyed the track, still love the Ruf as a series car, and my tyres wore pretty evenly for the whole race, I haven't tweaked my settings since round 1 and I don't think I will to be honest for the remainder of the season as I am happy with the feel of it. Good racing last night guys and look forward to next week P.S: Has anyone tried HardWare Rivals Beta on PS Plus this month? Had a go last night and it is pretty good, like that rocket league except it is kill each other with guns n stuff, keen to tee up a night and run some rounds if anyone else is.
Agreed clevo, I love the RUF. I've picked the Audi for the next Sunday night series though as I don't want to limit myself to just the one car. I put around five hours practice in last week for this track over different nights but then on Friday night completely changed my cars setup (like literally everything from Juzzy's tune to Emu's tune) as I needed to find a way to keep fast times but save some rubber. I had an hour practice with this setup and managed to peak at just the right time luckily.
We change the car every season @beakeroo so ther will be a poll etc... in the coming weeks to start weening out a new chariot for the advent of season 2 Personally I would love to see a series in the Ford Mk1 Escorts, slow but fun
I had a pretty good race last night , fast enough to stay ahead of adz and jas but a little to slow to keep up with beakeroo. I unfortunately peaked in practice and had no consistency through the race. Ranging between mid 36s to high 37s. Had a glitch where it felt like a invisible car tapped my back corner and a wall that stuck me in reverse and refuelled the car. Then when beakeroo's gap started to shrink I will picked up some pass, caught him and almost tapped him when I didnt realise how bad his tyres must have been and slowed real early. Tried to keep the pressure up for a couple of laps. Alas, last lap and I pushed too hard spun and had no chance of catching. Good quiet race all round and thanks everyone for a great race.
No wonder you caught me so quickly (other than me being 3x 1.40's in a row due to losing it on the same bend. The wall (though a big pain) gives you new tyres as well.
Really, it wasn't showing new tyres or felt like it...but the car did handle better with more fuel on board
Still a learning curve for me on Sunday night... Had a great run as Cleveland said . Sorry on the bumps again lads but I'm trying..
What a top night of racing gotta say. Qualifing was intense with nothing in it, was waiting to see that 1st to drop down every lap so was busting my nuts to string good laps together. If you with on the stick vhmik hats off to you that was an awesome time. Race was more of the same, vh and breakeroo hot on my tail, i was quite worried about the tyres making full distance and was planning to be very nice to them but breakeroo and vhmik had wickard pase and i couldn't pull out any time, unlucky vhmik for your dramas m8. In the back of my mind im thinking, man breakeroo if your taking it easy on tyres bloody slow down cause the gap was not changing sitting on the 3 second mark lap after lap and i was pushing too hard to make full race distance at that pase. As guys where pitting and traffic was coming into it was really worried breakeroo would get a better run through and be right up my freckle. I know I've said it before but racing with you guys is amazing with the awareness and politeness in giving room for guys coming up still blows me away. It just makes the whole thing so more realistic as in no bash and crash you get in open rooms. As i read breakeroo you had a couple of small dramas which was unlucky m8 as it was some great pressure you where piling on. Great fastest lap. Really enjoying the racing all cheers emu
Yeah I was running through the first part of the S turn (the one that is immediately before the very last corner) in second gear (at around 125kmph with warm decent tyres) but from around L25 I found that my rear left was too worn to do this as I spun off three laps in a row. I thought it was lack of concentration at first but then I figured it was the tyre so started taking it a little slower and in third. I was also finding the end of the long straight where it veered right tricky. Had to let off the gas coming into it as it was trying to kick out, again due to that tyre. In hindsight it was probably the aforementioned S turn that caused the rear left issue. I probably should have been taking it in third from the start but I was too busy watching the front left to worry about it. Front left was great BTW, I really was looking after it whilst hounding you, I just found a nice line I was comfortable with. I was happy with a podium, second place was icing. Will be looking for more in the future though as it tastes nice, nom nom.
