For Nurburgring on Sunday, do we know what the settings are going to be for start time and time speed?

I just ran some practice and I think my track settings defaulted to 15:30 and 10, which meant it got dark after about 2 laps and didn't get light again.
Would be good to know in advance what we can expect in terms of light/dark.

Also, is the weather completely random? My practice was dry for 1 lap then it didn't stop raining at all.
Nurburgring + night + rain, for 6 laps; not fun :(

Yeah I've had the cars disappear whenever I've tried to take close up shots too. Not sure if there has been an update maybe.

I did some testing on start time and progression. I started session at 430am and it was light for the qualifying lap. The race starts in the daylight, does a few laps in the dark then light again for the finish. Seems to be good settings for getting a good light qualifying lap, then plenty of time to settle the race order before dark and light again for the battle for a podium.

Well this should be interesting, I'd best throw in a couple of practice laps tonight before the race, I've been hooking in to Forza for a few days now. I'll probably be off my usual pace.

I need to go and buy a sandbox, find my childhood toys, and put them in there so I can throw them back out again, on lap 2 my interwebs disconnected. Sure I crashed lap 1 (turns out when I tried to drive safe and protect the tyres was when I was crashing and sliding :?), so I bumped it up to a respectable speed that wasn't burning tyres and with 6 laps to go I was 11sec behind, when I disconnected I was 10sec behind so with Beau and Koastr racing in close proximity out front I was certainly in with a chance, and it was sure going to be a fun race, too bad Bigpond are the dodgiest company on Earth.
So I'll take this opportunity to thank everyone for the fun season, I've had TV drop-outs, early race incidents and interwebs drop-outs, but the racing in between all that mayhem has been fun.

Bummer Paulie. It was an epic race, for the first 4 laps at least. Congrats on your championship result.
Thanks to all, it's been a great season, I think we'll all be better drivers for it. :D
Massive congrats to Beau, who really cemented his championship victory tonight. ;)

What happened lap 4? I'm going to guess one of three scenarios, Beau hit the jets, Beau took less fuel and got out of the pits much faster, or you had an off.
Did I get 2nd place in the championship then? Cool, what do I win? I've always wanted a pat on the back, you know, someone to tell me I did good. Too bad next season I might be slower due to trying to play two different games, I may never get to challenge a victory again. :( At least I can brush up on my reverse parking skills.

Bad luck Paulie. Maybe you'll do better next seasons.
Congrats to Koastr for showing awesome pace in the last two races. You seem to have stepped it up a notch.
I had an awesome race tonight. Its a shame Paulie got dc'd because I'm sick off hearing the excuses. I was hoping to win this race with a full grid (or as full as possible). Hopefully our grids will improve for next season.

PS : Paulie were you planning on a zero stop? otherwise why were you saving tyres on the first stint?

Beau pitted end of lap 3. As I was in front I had little choice but to stay out for another lap and pitted end of lap 4. Niether of us took on fuel.

I think the gap was about 15s coming out of the pits. I made a couple of mistakes, the gap dropped to about 20s.
I pulled it back to about 11s on my fresher rubber and thought I had good pace and a shot at catching up with two laps to go (I think). But a couple more mistakes cost me about 6s each and I finished 16s behind. No big offs though. I was very pleased with my driving early on, a little dissappointed in the latter mistakes, but pretty pleased with my overall pace.

Beau drove almost flawlessly, with strategy to match. Gotta hand it to you mate.

Pretty sure I got fastest lap at 9.47.2xx so at least that's a concilation! :D

Paulie, Natman, can you guys confirm for me which lap was you last so I can keep an eye out for your fastest lap times in the replay? They don't show up in the results after you've left the room. Cheers.

Good race guys, and a good end to the season. Beau is almost in a league of his own up there.
Hope to see you all again next season; whether or not I will be in Div 1 again we will see...

    My race:
I dropped right to the back on our slow quali lap fully expecting to be slowest; I didn't have a very good preparation for the race. Cruising around on that slow lap put me in a weird place of mind, coz I found myself on the start of my hot lap not really concentrating on what I was doing. But I did manage to put a lap together without too many incidents, bar that final little complex after the long straight where I was on the grass; qualified 4th with a 10:01.xxx, far and away my PB.

Managed to maintain position for the first half of lap 1, but was getting some real pressure from natman, and when he made a lunge going into the right hander before the long back stretch I missed my braking and was off the track. That let natman and Outta through.
Managed to catch up to natman on the start of the next lap, he was getting a bit out of shape in a few places which gave me an easy pass. By this stage Outta was far in the distance and I knew he would be tough to catch. Never_Enough was close behind but I was able to pull away from him.

Night fell and so did my pace. I should have ran some more night practice. Those high speed sections in the dark are frightening. I also came across an interesting glitch that i've read about but never seen where the track just disappears, there are fences etc. but the ground doesnt exist.
Never got past when I pitted at the end of lap 4 but it didn't seem he pitted and I caught up and made an easy pass I think at the start of lap 6.

I could occassionally see Outta on my map, so catching him was my focus, but its impossible to know whether your making time because of the useless split times GT5 shows. In the end I think our pace was too similar to make any ground up, and my propensity to crash meant I was never going to get on the podium.

All in all I was reasonable happy with my run, a few offs/spins early on made it difficult for me to challenge Outta, but I was cleaner than I expected to be, and my pace was quicker than in any practice I had, though they were rain effected. Fastest lap was a 10:00 dead.

TOO MANY MISTAKES, thats my big problem. I think i've identified some things I can work on to try be more consistent, so I'll be looking to improve next season.
I might have finished 6th in the championship, which puts me in the drop zone to make way for fast guys from other divisions. But with bigger grids planned I hope to still be in Div 1.

    Floodsim,
I had the track disappear on me momentarily. It happened at the kink in at the end of the really long back straight.
I hope you have success finding some consistency for next season. I bagged the Tamora for most of the season, however I really enjoyed driving it in the final two rounds. Not sure if it was because of the tracks, or just because I had gotten more comfortable with it. At the end of the day, I think it's mad us all better drivers.

Bad luck Paulie. Maybe you'll do better next seasons.

Koastr I'd appreciate if you did not include me in the fastest laps since I never actually got a flying lap in, I dc'ed lap 2. Curiously what lap was your fastest? I was making good pace on lap 2, had chopped a second or so out of the lead mid way through the lap. Outta was right on me at the time, I hope my off didn't get in the way of you guys, it looked like I was able to gather myself pretty quickly without getting in your way much. I also hope that after I dropped out my car didn't go driverless and get in anyone's way, apparently it happened to me once right at the end of the long straight and my driverless car flew like an arrow straight in to the guy who was about to win.
I too must commend Koastr on his uppings in pace at the end, did you turn on ABS or just start to figure the car out/become a better driver. I know you had some pace at Autumn Ring when you had ABS on.

I was planning on a strategy like Koastr did, 4 lap stint to start and 3 laps to finish, it would have worked out roughly equal either way no matter how you look at it. From my limited practice I judged tyre wear to be an issue on the 4 lap stint, was this not the case?
Hey, when I have excuses they're good ones. Well, not the crashing ones, that's racing, but technological failures are far too common. So two rounds I had genuine excuses, the rest I got out-raced, the others I did the out-racing, it sure was a damn close battle up the front. Our interwebs have been pretty bad all week, proximity to an interwebs terminal will be a heavy consideration for me when I buy my first house (in 600yrs due to prices). A bit OT, but I heard houses in NZ still go for under $100k for a normal one, which is even less in the AUD$. Maybe we should all buy houses in NZ. ;)

No worries Paulie. My fastest lap was a 9:47.2xx and I think Beau got a 9:47.3xx. Pretty much matched our best practice pace.

Thanks for the commendation.I think it was a bit of both.

I started running ABS in the last 3 or 4 races and it takes a bit of getting used to, but this Tamora was just too unstable without it as you couldn't turn the brake strenght low enough and keep a stable bias.
Also I focused on not over driving (which is easy to when your not used to ABS), and thought about my driving a bit more in the last few races, breaking it down into corner entry, apex, corner exit and developing each.

Also focused on fixing a brake marker rather than just using feel, hitting the apex tight, and using a bit more short/strategically timed shifting to get the car to turn/grip when you want it. Perhaps the last two tracks suit my style a bit more too.

But I definitely feel I've improved as a driver this Season. It's been great having a strong field to drive improvement.

Just to let you guys know, I haven't forgotten about posting fastest laps and highlights....

Hopefully will get around to it this weekend. It's trick to fit the enduro replay's in during the week, especially with organising the Season 4 vehicle selection.

Cheers, you can if you like Beau. But I'm confident I'll get to it this weekend without too much effort.

I will probably just capture a few highlights off the first few laps then probably just set a timer and let the replay get to the end while I do/watch something else. I'm pretty sure we were all just running solo after lap 3 or 4.
