Round 5 - Circuito Madrido sprinto raceo 1o

During the practice session i was up towards the top of time sheets posting a fastest lap of a 1.23.5. Then without knowing how I did my fastest lap ever of a 1.23.0 which was great considering i hit the wall in the middle sector. I knew I could go faster and was posting faster sector times, but couldn't keep it together.

Come qualifying Holden chucked out a 1.29.79 or something ridiculous early on and all my pace disappeared. I was struggling to even get in the 23's let alone beat that. On one lap I was .4 up in the first sector, but traffic midway through the laps would kill it for me, forcing me off line. In the end I think i was 3rd behind holden & dougz.

I got a good start and took Dougz off the line slotting in behind Holden for the chicane waiting for the inevitable dive bombers from the back, and sure enough they came but luckily for us they had ghosted before hitting the front guys. For the first two laps I was up Holden's clacker, but coming down the back straight through the kink I caught the draft and didn't adjust my braking enough. I knew I was too fast into the turn and had no hope of making it, so I did a Travis Pastrana style hand brake turn into the tyres, fortunately meaning I could take off straight away, but it was just enough to let Dougz squeeze through and i fell back to third.

Then it was a few laps of following Dougz, and it wasn't till about mid-race distance when he slid sideways into the first chicane. I managed to pull alongside leading into the loop. I gained back second place and set about chasing Holden. He was only about 6 seconds ahead, so it wasn't insurmountable, I wanted to just get close enough to take advantage of any mistake he might have made (yea right!). I was closing the gap 2 out of 3 sectors, but kept mucking up some where in the lap negating any advantage i got. It started to eat my tyres and by laps 11 & 12, it came down to just staying on track as Dougz had caught me up and was ready to pounce if i spun or hit the wall.

Final result was me in 2nd about 11 seconds behind i think it was.

Raceo 2o - Reverseo Grido

Starting 2nd last, another good start and then absolute chaos! There seemed to be cars everywhere, but managed to thread the needle and by the chicane had made up about 5 or 6 spots. Holden was right behind me, I was hoping he had got caught up in the melee, but no luck! On lap 2 (again, seem to have trouble with lap 2!), i was WAY too cautious braking from the back straight and Holden snuck past me. I managed to trail him though and we passed a few of the other guys in the following few laps. By mid race Jaserous had the lead closely followed by Aza, with Holden and myself rounding the top 4.

I was keeping a close eye on the battle between Aza & Jaserous, as Holden & I got closer. Aza finally made his way past and Holden not long after that. I knew I had to get past Jaserous quickly so the leaders didn't get away on me. It took a few laps too many though but I finally passed him when he went wide on the final turns. Aza & Holden were locked in their own battle now which allowed me to catch them within a lap or 2. For the last 3 laps I was willing Aza on to keep the lead and take the win (sorry Holden!), and I almost had 2nd place when Holden brushed the wall leading onto pit straight on the 2nd last lap, but taking a tighter turn to avoid his rear end, the tail got loose and I scraped the wall on the other side of the track so lost my speed advantage.

The last lap was quite eventful as Holden got past Aza just before the loop, then I almost snuck through both of them as they had a small coming together on the left hander after the left sweeper. In the end, took the 3rd spot and I believe 2nd overall for the round.

Sorry to anyone who may have been affected by my intermittent lag, but it seems there was a few who had connection issues, both Nugget & Rico disconnecting at the same time was weird, in fact my screen glitched just before they did, and this may have been when dougz rammed my stationary-on-his-screen car. Rico d/c'd again in the 2nd race, so bad luck for him. Been there!

Looking forward to next week, don't think I've really raced Trial Mountain in reverse before, so will be interesting!

Well tbh I sucked at Madrid. Was severely hungover and to top it off my interwebz was struggling. Got dc'd half way through quali, managed to get back in only to crash into someone sitting sideways before the start/finish line on my flying lap....sweet.

Not that it mattered anyway, never found a consistent braking point which played havoc with all around. The only fun bit I found on that track was that jump/kink on the back straight. Oh that and when I glitching turbo rammed me at a million miles an hour up the front straight, did lol.

Actually you glitched through me & holden at one point, must have been the 2nd race. funny stuff.

Will try and get one done tonight. I haven't been able to get a valid lap in, I keep smacking a wall too hard or cutting a corner invalidating the lap in-game, so it wont let me save it.

That is the moment I'm talking about tho, on my screen you were stopped against the wall on the exit of the last corner...then BANG i get launched down the straight in front of you both. Unfortunately the massive damage from the 'hit' left my car limping, letting both you guys past again. Scared the out of me at first but was in tears laughing once a realised what happened :lol: Would have loved to get a replay but the (dis)connection had other ideas.

I've got a 3 day bucks weekend this weekend too, so not going to be in very good shape again come this sunday night . Lets hope I can manage to find the braking point at least once.

Oh and I managed a 6:50 on the 'burg, with a conservative second half just to get it across the line. Want to get it down to 6:40 before submitting.

Just had a quick bash around Trial Mountain before tonights race.. and a bash it was. This track murders your tyres.
Sorry in advance to anyone following me tonight.. I may obscure your vision with smoke as i found this the more natural way around..

I've only managed a 28.5.. Tonight well could be the end of my run of 3rd places.

Well that was by far the most enjoyable race i've had. Turned out nothing like i thought it was going to.
Had an awesome battle with Disturboed for about 8 laps untill he pitted. I was going to pit then aswell but i thought my pace was still ok on those tyres so i decided to go around once more. I then came into pit lane too quickly and got held up on my stop, letting Aza and Turbo past.
I was off again on fresh tyres and was closing the gap to Disturboed by about .2 - .3 each sector for a couple of laps. I had closed the gap from 8 seconds down to about 3.5 when i see smoke infront of me and turbo darting across the track. i did give him a fair whack on my way past, sorry about that haha. i thought he'd be able to get going again fairly quickly and i'd only have a small margin over him. then i look at the mini map again and his arrow was facing across the track again at the next corner. by then i was feeling pretty gifted. just had to keep it on the track for the last 3 laps. ended up taking out my first round win
Im hoping i'll get the fastest lap points too. I think it was a 1:26.2.

What a round that was, freekin awesome! It would have been even more awesome had I held it together and took the win, but I'll take the 2nd spot.

Did my fastest ever 1.26.4 in quali and had provisional pole till I disconnected. It was after the race I found out Holden did a 1.26.2 the bugger. When I reconnected the timing and grid order on my screen was all screwed up. I didn't have enough time to lay down a good lap before race start and ended up in 5th.

Got a decent start, in 4th by the kink, chasing Holden, dougz & gary up the hill. Took gary on the next corner, up into 3rd. I was in complete shock when I passed Holden coming out of the 2nd little tunnel and then knuckled down and set out after Dougz. I took him at the end of the first tunnel on lap 2. We fought tooth and nail for the next 9 laps, never more than a half a second and quite often just a hairs breath between us. Had a scare on lap 8 coming out of the 3rd tunnel and down the hill getting very sideways and Doug hitting my rear quarter and I thought I was a goner, but held it together and managed to keep going.

I pitted on lap 11, I was planning on going a lap later, but the rears had just worn down a little too much for my liking. Dougz stayed out. I exited the pits in 4th spot. Next lap around I was back in front of Dougz by a good margin. After a few laps I passed Aza and was back in the lead and all I pretty much had to do was bring it home, but no, it got the better of me and I started to make some silly mistakes like sideways onto the start/finish straight and slide into the pit wall. And then on lap 17, clipping the entrance to the 2nd tunnel which got me untidy, and in the midst of trying to straighten it up, I got onto the grass on the outside and without even touch the wheel, or pedals, it just spun me around ending up in the worst position, front facing the wall. Dougz got past me as he had made up several seconds previously, then 100m up the road i did the same thing, so that really sucked. Those two spins killed my tyres and from there the car just wanted to spin every corner and it was getting really bad. With 1 lap to go, Holden was back on my bum, so I just tried to pre-empt where he was going to go each corner without blocking him. Managed to just keep him at bay to maintain 2nd. Somewhat disappointing after effectively leading 16 laps but dems da breaks.

Oh true, i had forgot about that. Sorry mate. After i hit you i did back right off and let you stay infront though. For a while i thought i'd spun you though. Good job on holding it haha.

I wouldn't have blamed you anyway, there would have been nowhere to go!
