Shifter Kart Madness Reopened:
Looking at getting this series off the ground again. Over the next few saturdays (When available) i'll be having a kart room open for some short kart races at a variety of tracks. If there happens to be plenty of interest i'll look at getting a series underway in the new year.

Here we go, CAGM's first attempt at a series, and what better way to start than with a kart, the entry point for many into Motorsport. But we're not talking about any old kart, we're talking shifter karts people. No more twiddling your thumbs while waiting for the power to kick in like you do with those one speeds. With 6 gears, 51hp and weighing in at a mere 80kg (Thats more than double the power to weight ratio of that MX-5) strap yourself in for one hell of a ride.

When will this cracker of a series be held you ask? Well i'm in no rush to get this series underway so will fit it in around all the other awesome series others have planned. I'm not fixed on any particular day of the week either so if your interested in the series be sure to chuck your name down. From there we can come up with a day and time that suits the majority.

The purpose of this series is to primarily have fun!! So whether your an extra terrestrial from div 1 or a slow and steady as she goes kind of person from div 6 this series is for you!!

Now I want this series to be as close as possible so I plan to implement a power/weight penalty based on division or a success power/weight penalty system or even a combination of both.

The only tuneable options with this kart is brake balance and transmission. Tuning will be unrestricted in the lobby settings. Like usual you'll be free to alter your brake balance however transmission settings will be predetermined for each track to ensure you don't top out along the straights, but there is to be no alteration of gear ratio's.

I'm hoping for it to be a 5 round series with rounds at this stage consisting of 3 roughly 15 minute races. There will be qualifying for the 1st race of each round only, with it being reverse grid for the remaining 2 races. Qualifying will be 7 minutes. More than enough time for an out lap and at least 4 hot laps for most tracks that will be selected. I'm also considering a few feature double point races such as the Bathurst 100, 24 min of nurburgring, 24min of Spa and 24min of Le Mans.

Now i'm a people pleaser so if you would like to see a certain track feel free to comment below and more likely than not I will fit it into the track list. Fire any other suggestions my way too as i'm always open to other peoples point of views.

Race Format:
Each round will consist of 4 races. The first 3 will be 10 minute sprints with the final race being a 15+ minute feature race with fuel set at a rate that will require 1 pit. The feature races will be worth 1.5 times points with the exception of the Bathurst 100 which will be worth double points. Only the 1st race will have qualification with the following 3 being reverse grid based on the previous race results.

9:15 - Feature race

Sounds good. I only sign up for one addition series (other than Sunday) so you can be sure I'll be committed. I highly recommend not doing your ideas of Bathurst and Le Mans et cetera, because this is the opportunity to race on all those awesome tracks that get neglected.

I'm basically demanding all Kart Space variants. =P

Also, I'd like to submit that I actually prefer the non-shifter karts, because then it's focussing on a different driving style (sliding to keep the revs high). But that not too high an issue for me though.

Oh there will be kart space for sure. Will get a preliminary track list up tomorrow.

Small red bull ring would be a good one, just got to avoid bumpy tracks

Yeah I have that on my list. As long as the bumps aren't in the braking zone its ok as these Karts don't allow abs and just lock up when braking after a bump even at Kart space. Will nut out a list later this arvo. I currently have a list of 20 tracks to test so only 5 will be dropped if I go with the 5 rounds of 3 sprints setup.

I did some laps in the shifter kart at red bull and its faster then the MX5 and doesnt top out either

Toping out isn't an issue will have specific transmission settings to suit each track just need to test with some draft as I can see it being quite significant in these even on weak.

Thoughts?? Nothings set in stone, i'm more than happy to alter the tracks if you'd prefer something else.

Sweet when do we start

I'll have a look at the race calendar once we get some more interest. Probably looking at a late september early october start. I'll probably get a practice room open tonight to drum up some support as well as working out the number of laps for each track.

Yer i will see how i go, im at the Broncos vs Knights game tonight but hoping to get home by about 930

If it clashes with HSC (so from mid October to mid November) I can't race, but man oh man this looks good.

After than race at Suzuka and Tsukuba last night, that was so much fun.

Depending on when this is being run, count me in CAGM!

I'll be on a cruise mid Oct for 2 weeks so if this runs during that time I will drop out or let someone else take my place for the rounds that I miss.
