Don't worry, I realized what had happened and just got on with, it is disappointing but what can do you but just roll with it.
whose ping matters more, host or guest. high ping host eg me @ 45 seems to work all right most of the time
Host is important to have good ping to be able to send the race data out to guests. Guests arent as important as they only hace to receive the data and then send their own back again.
HFC is what I have but I bypassed connecting it to the foxtel, instead a direct connection to the modem. I had doubts over the foxtel interfering with the connection.
I'm on NBN via HFC through Internode (i.e. TPG) and have only a few issues. Mind you we've got a brand new cable after the garbage truck ripped down the original Telstra network cable!
rule of thumb: less than 50ms ping is really good, less than 100ms ping is good to average, 150ms is where you are going to start having problems with games, and above 150 ms ping you may experience lag and such in games.
good to know, even though i'm at the end of the internet (well i can see it from here) i still have a decent ping
