Looking forward to this with some apprehension and excitement, first time in an independently organised league.
For the new lads, send me a friend request to join the Friends only lobbies. @T F Eccles @Mojo_2000_ @LE_bananajosh
I remember it was the Porsche at the Green Hell that is Nurb 24H and I rammed @pat65 (lobby host) on the fast right hand corner... Not the best first impression
OK, so it's mostly about what I do sitting at my PS4. On Sunday come the appointed hour do I wait for invitations to things like a PSN chat room? (Or do you use Discord in parallel?) Finding the lobby for races ought to be straightforward using the published parameters but what about the MnG? Terminology: 'reserve' I get, what's 'privateer' mean in this ROOZ context?
In the lobby area, just filter for rooms hosted by Friends. Look for the one hosted by your Division host (me in this case) and join away. I'll also have a PSN chat open for anyone to join, same as above. Privateer means they have opted to not join a racing team that takes part in the Rooz X platform championship. MnG is used as a testbed for new racers / hosts to work through all these things before the season proper.
privateer means that you have chosen not to take part in the teams championship. BHR - Bruce Hale Racing TLR - Turn Left Racing PRT - Pagnian Racing Team GRT - Gamesmen Racing Team RZR - Rooz Racing NLR - Next Level Racing SAR - Selby Acoustics Racing ICR - IgnitiON Controls Racing EDIT: Tree'd
you don't have to wait for sunday to join roozers for clean raceing. get as many raceonoz gts people on your friends list as possible, join their rooms, chat, learn/practice racecraft, ask for tips. get a headset. i am on most arvos having a practice, most roozers will put rooz or raceonoz in the room title but searching via friends rooms is easier once you have linked up with a few of us this is a typical sunday night johnnoclint (mathyus) will send a message to the PSN chat for our div saying room and party is up, probably 60-45 minutes before race time you can jump in whenever but getting in early lets you see if you have connection issues with anyone (lag is not our friend) around 15 minutes before qually JC will start messaging countdown times. 15 min, 10 min etc. this is the que to get the last nervous wee out and have the beers standing by at 20 past the room is reset twice. this is the signal to start qually. you drive as fast as you can around the track to try to get pole. after you've done the specified number of laps (around ten minutes worth) you'll park off the track (use the handbrake) and wait for race start. Once everyone is parked the race is started. go as fast as you can without hitting people on purpose. if you hit someone by accident wait for them to recover and get racing again. you can either participate in voice chat during the race or turn it off. be mindful that people are trying to concentrate though as you lol and banter. at the end of the race bow down to and heap praise upon the winners. then we usually have a look at the next week's track. once it is loaded you can save it so that you have the correct settings if you want to practice during the week. keep in mind that practicing the track offline in arcade mode is diffferent physics to practising online in a lobby. ps most people have their psn id in their sig photo on the forum
Plenty of good advice above... Spending some time on track in lobbies with other Rooz racers will get you there fast. I had never used party chat before Rooz! Do you have NBN yet? I have to keep reminding my partner not to watch neighbours on catch up, other people streaming on the same connection causes lag. You will know lag when you see it when online, cars jump around back and forth, making it hard to race close to others without hitting them. This weeks track, Monza, has a particularly notorious chicane, where mistakes can be made. Sometimes you run into other people if you don't slow down early enough, and it is very easy to cut the corner too. You need to have at least 2 tyres on the track/ rumble strip. This can mean 2 tyres are off in the grass and still be OK. Watch others and see how far this lets you go, you can sometimes gain a second every lap from using the whole track here. Don't forget to check this forum Sunday afternoon for any updates that have happened since you last checked. Keep asking away, plenty of people here willing and able to help.
