I get you, having raced every race for 5 seasons I didn't see the point. But someone said it allows for the occasional missed race due to sickness, events or life that randomly crop up. Having 1 of your rounds removed also gives you a bit of freedom / slack if you are also having a bad race, you can write it off.
For example, let us say you've signed up for the season, we are moving along and it is now round 5 and you are in the run for the title, however on Sunday you are unable to race due to an emergency. We are all human and have a a life, well some of us do at least
You now miss a round, due to no fault of your own and will now likely not be able to compete for the win. So it has its merits and keeps everyone within cooee of the title.
It is also the same kinda of for racers who volunteer to go Privateer. They know they will be missing races and don't want to reduce the teams overall point tally by not being available.
