Yea and it's been done a load of times by the sounds of it. But iRacing sit on the fence a bit with this 'accidentally on purpose' sort of thing... unless it's a no holds barred ram to wreck you or there's swearing or abuse involved they don't do F*all. Hopefully with accumulating reports against this guy they will start to see the pattern and act on that.
Yer i seem to have been in this guys sights from day one, 7 (8) times is a bit ridiculous, others have had multiple hits but I have coped the most I think. I did swear at him on about number 5 and he uses that to say I'm the bad iracer every time he hits me. Learnt from that moment and just keeping my mouth shut and record button on. He did report me for this last incident but i did nothing wrong when he hit me and the stewards know it was a false report and keeping their eye on him from now on. Just hope he stops this crap cos every one else in the v8 are fine and we all enjoy the races he's not in. Got another podium today with some good racers in the race and moved up to 4th in the div 3 championship with one week to go, not sure I'll hold it with the drop rounds but should get my top 10 i was aiming for.

Richard Hamstead did a Hot Lap video of the V8 supercar at Zolder. Being a new track for me I find it good to see the correct line to take and gears to use through the corners. Just got to work up a good setup to be able to do this. A cross between Road America and Watkins is working so far on the very few laps i did, 137's at the moment and expecting 135's 136's. Yer if you hit that curb a little you can get through there pretty fast, hit it a lot and you just about scrap your helmet on the road when the bounce smashes your head through the window and the car tilts furter than the old HDT stunt team. The track looks great and will be fun once i learn it, but can see i won't be learning this one in a hurry, starmazda might be the go.
I was trying this track in the star mazda last week and its bloddy hard to pass without hitting someone, so i didnt end up racing. Alot of people were messing up the chicanes and stop in front of you, then you have nowhere to go but into them or the wall. Im guessing it will be the same with the v8 this week
Hmm, Interesting video that one. I think I just learnt something about the current v8 model. Not to get ahead of myself though. We will see, come Oran park in december.
C'mon Beau, share.... you cryptic bastard I noticed a couple of things. Very low camber at the front, possibly even less than the back by the looks of it. Looks like that helps get more low speed wheel input without scubbing so much as well as the obvious benefit under brakes. When accelerating out of a corner it seems best to be right of that tipping point to stepping out... where before you pretty much needed to avoid any rear wheel slippage at all.
He drops to a lower gear momentarily on entry to help initial turn-in and has it back up a gear before exit. I often do the same if i go in too deep trying late break passing move but you can risk blowing an engine now, never blew an engine till this latest build and blew one last week on lap eleven leading the race by 11 second heading for certain victory ( no not my 11th victory). Was weird as i was going up through the gears when she blew. I'm in the 135's now, 135.7 with an optimal of 135.1 but still more to come i think, hope so some rivals are in the high 134's.
gotta keep the revs pretty low when you do that or the back starts stepping out. seems to be what hamstead is doing there. Shouldn't risk blowing your engine then either.
Yeah Dave, low camber is the way things are going with this tyre model. Personally, I believe it's mostly to keep tyre temp down, and increase the longevity of a setup. Richard is using the engine to turn the car, by using a low gear. This is something I have not even thought of trying because I've blown a few engines in iRacing.
that is intersting because last season the faster guys seemed to maintaining a higher gear. perhaps its a function of the increased tyre wall stiffness adding some stability to the rear.
You actually drop that extra gear to get the car to step out a little to help the turn in, the car is a lot more catchable lately, but you still want to limit it to avoid heating up the tires. Even low revs without high rev blip you can pop ya top, i have seen it happen to a few guys in races this season and they report its definately something to watch out for since the last build, but it is still a rare thing.
Using the lower gear allows Richard to carry more apex speed, and carrying more apex speed is key I think.
Regarding the lower camber being better, I noticed that in the Star Mazda at Road America with an extra notch of camber front and rear I was significantly faster over a single lap. However over a race distance performance dropped off at about half race distance. With the lower camber I was able to set my fastest lap on the last couple of laps.
Sounds similar to the v8. Except it's tyres can go off after a few laps if you want them too. I just ordered myself the formula rim, so might have to give the star Mazda a bash over my Christmas beak.
Speaking of wheels, i picked up the thrustmaster t500 rs from amazon in the Cyber Monday sales in the US. $380 shipped to my door, pretty crazy deal. Feels a lot more solid than the Fanatec Turbo S, which was starting to get a bit notchy. I think the FF motor was on its way out again.
Damn I was thinking about getting one from amazon aswell, didnt know they actually delivered to aus tho.
