Yeah those Nitto's aren't badly priced at all compared to the yokos. When I bought them I was told they only have seen 1 track day. They don't look worn or withered by age but yeah they must be that old sadly. Haha yeah rear went a lil bit on me around turn 1 at 150ish, countered and throttled on

You know how race tyres work? The Nascar guys get brand new soft compound tyres, run them for a couple of laps, and then take them off. After they cool back down, the compound has changed to hard and they use them for their long stint. They will still be grip pier than standard road tyres, but for your best times, you will need new rubber after every event.

    Semis are a bit different.
Ive seen many people go faster on semis on their last legs. Probably has something to do with the fact that the more they wear down, the more they become slicks :D
However, if they get too hot, or flat spotted, they're useless.

Ads I have been on the track literally two different days and that's it. I am certain there is more time to be had with practice then anything else at the moment. These tyres are still a massive step up compared to my previous street tyres (RE002) but I do feel if they weren't so old that there would be more grip in them. All I am doing is "street sprints" so it's hardly anything serious but obviously I do want to get faster and faster each time I go.

Yeah that's what I was saying mate, they will still be much better than road tyres, but you wait till you get some new ones!! I did a couple of track days on a road bike back when Lakeside was The Qld track. I had an RGV 250 and when I bought it, it had a Dunlop treaded race tyre on the front. I don't know how old it was but it was pretty awesome on the road. I took it for a few laps and was pretty impressed. They had a couple of Dunlop guys there selling tyres at unfortunately nearly 1.5 times more than I could get them from my local at caboolture but I was none the wiser and forked out near 300 for a front and WOW what a difference. The front used to do a little slide (not much, maybe an inch but noticeable) when you got aggressive into turns but the new tyre just gripped and gripped. Later that year I finally saved up enough to do both front and rear and holy crap!! I miss qld weather, tyres come up to temp so much quicker there lol.

No, that was Senji Hoshino, who drove the car at Le Mans 1989. Long story short Mazda gave him the car due to his length of time with Mazda as a mechanic and driver. He's kind of like the Japanese equivalent of Balboni.

Yep that's the one Jono, except he had the roof off when I saw it. It sounded wicked as it came past the window at work, and then when it tore up and over the bridge

#WTAC was pretty cool, bonus was Formula Drift, that Quad-Rotor that Mad Mike runs sounds insane! Plus who doesn't like an American NASCAR engine, in a Japanese car, Drifting in Australia?!

It's an obvious combo once you've seen it in action ;-)

A cool little video of Marcos Ambrose firing up the DJR/Penske Falcon...sounds absolutely brilliant...drags the clutch a bit, but we'll forgive him ;)

Some of my 'on the track' antics a few months back at PI
Couldn't film and drive so had to film others. I did ask someone to film my three laps around the circuit in an RS6 but he gave up after just one.

I've done similar says with Volkswagen as well.

How fun is the TTRS! In some way its more fun than a R8. I've done a couple of Audi days at Eastern Creek. Loved the motorkana. I won the R8 haha

The RS6 engine is amazing :D I just love the lift off crackle and pop.

Are you going to do the R8 drive day? I was thinking maybe next year, if I can win / afford it.

Nice one. I've thought about thee R8 day and also the Euro or NZ ice driving ones - not sure if I'll take the plunge or look at other avenues for now.
