Not on the track yet, but I've recently just bought a Go Kart to compete in the NSW Sportsman Enduro Karting competition. She needs some work, but the aim is to make it for round 1 of next year, so plenty of time. This was the first time firing her up:

Nice mate, I'm waiting for a cheap Excel to come up at the end of the season, looks like a great category.

I didn't even know you could race Excels. You might have posted already, but is it an all excel class?

Depending where you are I think in QLD/NSW its called the X3 cup, and the excel cup everywhere else? Lots of info around for a google search.

I will be running first up in a series called the Keema Cup which is run at Lakeside Raceway and Queensland Raceway.

but will be getting my car CAMS certified and log booked to do events in other states, such as the support category to the Bathurst 6 hour

Not necessarily on the track but I spent yesterday as the Assistant Chief Marshall for a CAMS Supersprint at Sydney Motorsport Park. Lots of beauties turned out for the day. 80+ cars wasn't too bad I've been told. Spent the day gridding up and chatting with the drivers amongst whom I found our very own legend, Josh Muggleton! Driving a very sweet WTAC decked Golf R. Narrowly missed out on a top 5 finish with cars around him being a Lambo GT3, Porsche GT3 and an insane Radical that wasn't shy of testing the limits.
I was in pit lane doing yellow flags for race starts at the V8's the weekend prior as well which landed me my CAMS license. Have already locked in a spot on the grid for Newcastle. Any familiar faces I'll see up there?

How much are the Excels to get race ready? Saw them up at QR at the Shannons Nationals and they look like a bit of fun.

yeah, took it out about a month ago, found out i was running with a Leaked out coilover on the right rear, so i was bouncing off the spring only causing the front left to keep lifting through the left handers and it only powers from the left front lol.
but got a new coilover and continued to replace parts on it ready for next year.

bit of an off season at the moment probably wont be back on track til Feb at this stage doing a few sprints and test days before first race in April at Lakeside.

there was a guy taking pic while i was at the last event which i will find and post up

Are you much of a car enthusiast and was able to work out that issue yourself? Or have you just kind of dived on headfirst with no real technical background? I'm amazed by guys that can drive a car and simply say what needs to be fixed or altered.

Do you have a facebook page or anything I can follow that you update as you go?

Im preparing my Go Kart with absolutely no car knowledge. My dads a mechanic for the NRMA, but never dealt with Karts. So its a learning experience. Season starts in February and already have to miss round one as its on the day my Brother In Law has decided he wants his bucks night, so should be racing for the first time in March. Cant wait.
