    Torrey Pines Back 9

    Hole 10: Par 4, 412m, HCP 3
The 10th is the first dog leg left Par 4 on the course. The 2x2 bunker format is repeated once more. A short iron should be used into a large green that slopes bigtime from left to right. Best to miss left though, as the ball can easily roll off to the right.

    Hole 11: Par 3, 205m, HCP 9
11 is a downhill Par 3 that offers a number of options off the tee. 3 small bunkers protect the green and all come into the play whenever the wind is blowing. The green slopes in all directions and is possibly the hardest to putt on. Pins toward the front are definitely worth attacking.

    Hole 12: Par 4, 462m, HCP 13
The 12th is a staggeringly long, 500 yard Par 4. 2 deep bunkers surround the green that due to being attacked with by a mid iron, are always a factor. It’s a hard hit to get it close, with several slight slopes. Get out of here with a birdie and you’ll be celebrating.

    Hole 13: Par 5, 564m, HCP 1
The canyon comes back into play on the 13th. The longest hole on the course, it’ll take 2 extremely good shots to get this on in 2. Don’t worry about the bunkers on the right. Now it’s decision time. Laying up with a fairway wood leaves an easy approach shot, but you risk rolling back down into the valley. The green’s bunkers require 2 hands to count with and the green has 3 tiers! Use the pine tree behind the green a guide and go for a birdie.

    Hole 14: Par 4, 396m, HCP 15
The 14th is a dog leg left Par 4 with the 2x2 bunker format. While somewhat short, the canyon will catch any wedge approach caught thin. The green is one of the easier on the course and provides many pin placements.

    Hole 15: Par 4, 436m, HCP 5
The 15th is unique as it lacks a fairway bunker. A longer straightaway Par 4, 2 bunkers once again protect the green with a false slope to the left. A tier to the back offers a tough pin placement.

    Hole 16: Par 3, 210m, HCP 7
The last Par 3, this is another extremely difficult hole from the championship tees. The green demands a draw off the tee, but a wild hook will end up out of bounds in the canyon. Pins back left will see very few birdies as it is almost impossible to fire the ball at the pin and make it stop.

    Hole 17: Par 4, 403m, HCP 11
The canyon is in play once again on the Par 4 17th. An uphill approach shot with a mid iron will immediately raise the challenge than what you might suspect it to be. Front side pins are the most tricky to attack as it’s one of the few holes on the course with a false front and it can very easily feed down the tier to the left, leaving an extremely long putt.

    Hole 18: Par 5, 519m, HCP 17
The 18th is a spectacular, risk reward finishing hole. There are bunkers all around the tee shot landing area, and it will take a very brave man to go for this green in 2 as the only water hazard on the course fronts the green. A scene of triumph, heartbreak and every emotion in between, the 18th lives long in the memory.

A good video to watch if you’re struggling to decide on what clubs to use for more accuracy

Slowjohnno and johnnoclint are the same person. If you can put them on the same line that would be great. I'll likely revert my PSN after this season of GTS.

@JonoStan96 you were unlucky to not get a hole in one on 8. I thought it was in.

Some of us can play together but unfortunately simultaneous play during society events has a lot of sync issues.
Feel free to join in mate, methods to join are in the OP :)

    Challenge At The Glass
    Jan 27 - Feb 2
    Course: Spyglass Hill Golf Course
    Par: 72
    Rounds: 4
Difficulty: 4/10: A course with many uphill Par 4’s, sidehill lies, fast and treacherous greens, ultimately the course’s length prevents Spyglass Hill from being considered a “true test” of golf skills.
    Predicted Winning Score: -38

Spyglass Hill is another Monterey Masterpiece. A co-host of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro Am, the course winds its way through the Del Monte Forest from Hole 6 onwards. Elevation changes are aplenty here so club selection is vital.

    Spyglass Hill Front 9

    Hole 1, Par 5, 544m, HCP 12
The opening hole, nicknamed Treasure Island, is a spectacular downhill dogleg left Par 5. Take driver off the tee with a sharp draw if you want to reach this green in 2. The green is protected by 3 massive bunkers and ice plant at the rear. The green slopes in all directions and is very tough to putt on.

    Hole 2, Par 4, 319m, HCP 16
A short uphill Par 4 that wont pose too much trouble if you can find the fairway off the tee. However errant tee shots will cause some serious headaches. The green is protected by a lone bunker and more ice plant, with a upper tier at the front.

    Hole 3, Par 3, 158m, HCP 8
The 3rd provides some spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean from the elevated tees. A large bunker fronts the green that slopes from front to back. A hole that is definitely harder than it looks, a Par is a good score at #3.

    Hole 4, Par 4, 339m, HCP 14
The 4th is another short Par 4 but don’t be fooled. The green is insanely narrow so precise approaches are required. Check the pin placement before your tee shot, if the pin is at the front, the left side of the fairway provides a better angle. Surrounded by ice plant, the 4th hole is Spyglass Hill’s signature hole.

    Hole 5, Par 3, 180m, HCP 6
The 5th is a simple Par 3 at first glance. 3 pot bunkers protect the front with another to the right. The green is large and offers many pin placements. Soak in the ocean breeze as this is the last oceanside hole at Spyglass Hill.

    Hole 6, Par 4, 408m, HCP 2
An uphill Par 4 that commences the player’s journey through the Del Monte Forest. Pick the right club on the approach as you do not want to be over the back of the green, as pretty as the view might be.

    Hole 7, Par 5, 499m, HCP 18
#7 is a reachable Par 5 due to the elevated tees. A pond protects the green from wayward shots that a short and left. The green slopes severely towards the pond and causes havoc on reads. A gettable hole, but precision is demanded.

    Hole 8, Par 4, 365m, HCP 10
Number 8 is a tough uphill Par 4. The elevation will play havoc on club selection as you wont be hitting from a flat lie. Avoid the front bunker at all costs, or else you’ll be flirting with a bogey.

    Hole 9, Par 4, 394m, HCP 4
The end to the front 9 is yet another uphill Par 4. Blast your ball past the bunker to leave a short iron into a green that slopes severely from front to back. Putting is an absolute nightmare on this large green.

    Spyglass Hill Back 9

    Hole 10, Par 4, 373m, HCP 9
The inward nine begins with a dogleg left just like the front 9. A tree can block tee shots on the left, but laying up before it makes the approach shot difficult. The green is one of the more flatter greens on the course but it’s still easy to have balls fly off.

    Hole 11, Par 5, 514m, HCP 17
A dogleg right Par 5 that can be reachable in 2 even if you don’t cut the corner. A collection of bunkers to the right protect this shallow two tiered green. A great birdie hole.

    Hole 12, Par 3, 163m, HCP 1
The brutal hole 12 is a very difficult Par 3 with trouble everywhere. A large pond will catch any balls hooked left while the green slopes uncannily towards it. Best to just aim for the middle of the green and get out of here with 2 putt par.

    Hole 13, Par 4, 421m, HCP 3
Another uphill Par 4 which rises from the tee box. The drive should be long and up the right side to maximise the space for the second shot. A sidehill lie will cause your shots to pull left so make sure to hold L1 before you finish aiming.

    Hole 14, Par 5, 521m, HCP 15
A double dogleg Par 5, the 14th hole is made tricky if your tee shot isn’t landed on the right side of the fairway. Tee shots left will have trees blocking the green. A pond protects the green front right and any pins tucked behind it should be treated with caution. An easy 3 shotter, it can spell doom for those that are too aggressive. Golf game nutters might recall as this being the tutorial hole for Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004.

    Hole 15, Par 3, 119m, HCP 5
The shortest hole on the course is framed by bunkers and another large pond. Aim for the middle of the green to take any danger out of play, and walk way with a 2 putt par.

    Hole 16, Par 4, 435m, HCP 13
A narrow tee shot must be hit left to avoid the trees that line the fairway. A long second shot is relieved by a deep green that slopes off to the right. Putting from above the hole is unenviable.

    Hole 17, Par 4, 297m, HCP 11
The 17th is probably the most unique on the golf course despite it being yet another uphill Par 4. You can’t see the landing area from the tee or the green from the fairway. Hit a draw with a fairway wood then pitch on with a wedge and you’re home free. Once again, above the hole is very challenging.

    Hole 18, Par 4, 396m, HCP 7
The finishing hole is a straight away but narrow Par 4. Launch a short iron dead centre into the green and the ball should feed close to the hole, but errant approaches will end up in the bunkers.

@JonoStan96 how does the count back work. He had 69 final round and you had 63.. don’t you win on a count back or is it because he was leading and you only tied?
