REMINDER: NO CUSTOM PAINTED SKINS ALLOWED DUE TO JOIN LAG! PENALTIES MAY APPLY
We recommend completely uninstalling custom painted skins from your ACC folders to avoid the excessive join lag issue.

    DRIVER BRIEFING NOTES
    • Avoiding Lap 0 and Lap 1 Carnage! - Take extra care as the lights go green as all cars will be in a tight, accelerating pack:
      • Expect cars to be much closer to you and varying in speed due to all the others around so try to leave a tad more space.
      • Assume there are cars in your blind spots and and on the other side of visible cars until the pack spreads out more.
      • In braking zones you must brake SIGNIFICANTLY earlier than you would in general racing.
      • Avoid sudden direction changes unless you are sure you are well clear.
      • If on a straight section don't drift - stay straight.
      • Approach each situation with caution but execute your driving with intelligence.
      • If you need to redress in this tight pack situation keep going until you can move out of the traffic safely before slowing down
    • Start Formation - The admin team will be taking a close look at driver's positions at race starts as we have noticed that some cars are getting away with being out of position. Driver's need to be side by side with their row partner and must maintain a reasonable gap to the cars ahead prior to the lights going green. The Kunos start system isn't perfect and still allows cars to be a fair way out of place by the time the lights go green so we will be reviewing starts as a matter of procedure from now on. We will issue warnings or penalties to drivers that we believe are gaining an unfair advantage or disadvantaging other drivers by being out of position. We'd also like drivers to stop all weaving and brake warming as soon as the double file segment begins. These sorts of sloppy grid formations can lead to major crashes in the first few corners so we'd like to clean that up
    • Discord voice chat rules and etiquette:
      • if you intend to chat you MUST use push-to-talk. No-none wants to hear your gear clicks, heavy breathing or barking dog in the background.
      • non-excessive chat and banter is OK in Practice sessions.
      • There should be minimal chat in Qualifying sessions - essential questions, statements, apologies etc. only.
      • There should be minimal chat in Race sessions - essential questions, statements, apologies etc. only.
      • If you become frustrated or angry at yourself or another driver DO NOT PUSH YOUR TALK BUTTON. Keep it private!
      • DO NOT CONDUCT ARGUMENTS OVER VOICE CHAT. Sort it out later!
      • ABUSE WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. There's no place for that stuff at Rooz!
      • Please wait until ALL drivers have completed the final lap of a race before discussing your race.
      • Admins may speak at any time in any session for obvious reasons.
    • Optional use of indicators - Should drivers wish to use indicators to assist with managing lapped traffic, they are to be used as they are used on the road - i.e. you should indicate which way you are going - if you indicate left, you go left. REMEMBER TO TURN THEM OFF AGAIN.
    • All drivers should read the "Rooz Etiquette guide' and "Rules & Regs" linked below before the start of Round 1.
    • Enjoy the battles with others and yourself :)

NOTE: Wacky Wednesday League Practice - Every Wednesday night we host a semi-closed race practice evening ahead of the upcoming Season 5 championship round. These are very informal and chilled out practice sessions where you can come in and try out set-ups, chat and have some fun racing without worrying about your championship points (this is separate to the 24/7 practice server which is always available). Importantly you can practice close racing moves with far less pressure and less consequence than Monday nights and we particularly encourage those newer to sim racing to join in. There are often excellent tips from some of our top pro drivers too. More info in the Wacky Wednesday League Practice thread.

    RACE & SESSION INFO
    This round is a SPRINT:
    • 1 x 60 min race.
    • 1 x Mandatory pitstops for tyres.
    • 57 minute pit window.
    • Fuel optional, fill time not fixed.
    • 15 min qualifying session.
    • Full formation lap with UI gizmo and car ghosting on. Getting too far out of position can result in being auto-sent to the pits for the start. Speeding as the lights go green will result in a stop/go penalty.
    • Server time scale multiplier set at 2x for this round.
    • SESSIONS:
      • Official Practice, 45 mins (in game Friday 10pm) - OPEN for joining
      • Qualifying 1, 15 mins (in game Saturday 10pm) - OPEN for joining

    CAR CHOICE
Season 5 is a fixed car per driver championship. Whichever car you start your first official round in will be the car you use for the rest of the season.

    CUSTOM PAINTED SKINS
Unfortunately due to the serious "join freeze" or "join lag" issue we are currently not allowing the use of custom painted skins for Season 5. Specifically we are talking about skins painted externally and saved as PNG files that are added to ACC.

We love the idea of custom painted skins and would dearly love to add this rich feature to our league but ultimately the quality of the racing must come first. We have discussed at length a number of ideas and methodologies to try to overcome the problem but these involve arrangements which add complexity for the admin team as well as all drivers involved in the season and still may not result in overcoming the problem. If the situation improves significantly either through better support within ACC or through the community arriving at workable solutions then we will certainly look at allowing custom painted skins into our Monday night league racing.

If you also love custom painted skins then please help us out by searching high and low for real solutions, and by all means feel free to do some testing on our servers including during our Wednesday fun practice nights.

At this stage we are not restricting the use of the in-game editor for creating custom colour schemes. This may change if we find that even that system causes serious join lag issues.

NOTE: As we cannot block the use of skins at the server level we strongly suggest all drivers who sign up to Season 5 remove all custom painted skins from their game installation folders as a precaution. If a custom painted skin has been accidently left selected on a driver's car when they enter the server during a qualifying session causing join lag they will be immediately disqualified from the round. Any driver that has a copy of that joining driver's selected skin will experience a large join lag as that image is loaded into memory. Every other driver on the server may experience some level of 'join lag' even if they have zero customs skins in their game.

    Thanks for racing at RaceOnOz
    :)

ACC the wheel stand destroyer also! I noticed my wheel tilt was a bit off and noticed the metal bar is close to snapping off! Still hanging on for now, but I might need to look into getting a spare part of they exist.

i must have upset some sim racing gods badly. thats two weeks in a row now ive been a innocent bystander in crashes. first i got messed up by Krunch's start miss hap and had to bail out on the grass then copped 48 sec damage. obviously no ones fault in those but it would be nice to not get caught in it for a week or 5

Quick apology to Liam Pointing for our collision out of Casio. I was impressed by myself that I assumed you would disappear in admiration... :) Hope it didn't cost you too much time.

So sorry about that - to you and everyone else caught up in it.

I'd rebooted the router in quali and it looked like it had settled but rounding the last corner suddenly all visible cars just went beserk as my ping skyrocketed. There was nothing I could do but stay straight but unfortunately I didn't get the green light which meant I was just in the way at that point. The game gave me a drive through for that mess but no consolation I know. Later as I tried to climb back into some sort of points position my car alarm went off outside so I had to get out of my rig to go and investigate (bloody possum I think). Suffice to say I didn't get a good result tonight.

There seemed to be quite a few tales of woe tonight - did Kunos use some voodoo magic to get that update out?

No need to apologise for the start. Wasn't anyone's fault. Just pure bad luck

Suzuka was a bit of similar story to Kyalami with a bit more self inflicted pain this time rather the circumstantial pain, quali was kind of average, not bad, but I still definitely left about .4-.7 on the Delta. Suzuka is always such a rewarding track to nail and I really think I could do a 1:59.x soon but we'll save that for another time for now.

Start of the race was kind of interesting with Krunch not getting shown the starting sequence, it made me feel like I got had got such a good start that I had jumped lights! I kept it nice and clean in the first few laps and was starting to settling onto the back of the pack in front of me, I think bit of extra pace available but I really just wanted to have another safe race and passing/pushing is difficult, unfortunately I couldn't account for my own talents or something to that affect as Mael might say and binned it in 130R. Firstly, I'm really grateful that I wasn't collected because I ended up in the braking zone right in the middle of the track for Casio, props to Pointing for avoiding me and the others too. The spin was a bit of a weird one for me since I didn't feel like I was on the limit in 130R on that lap, I wasn't right on the back of the car in front, my steering angle wasn't too severe and the spin happened in the very late stage of the corner when I had been back on full throttle for a long while and the aero balance should be stabilising the rear again, the car/rear did seem to have some slip angle going on but nothing that I wasn't doing every other lap, a bit disappointing on the whole but can't fix that now. I probably should have taken to the pits immediately but went around for another lap just throwing away time with a damaged car.

The race from here was pretty dull (like I wanted the first half to be as well), I just sat around .5 off of my potential average pace for to keep it safe, or at least I'll tell myself that. I didn't really get into any wheel to wheel racing from this point. Unfortunately when I did start to get on to the back a few people the had their own spins before I could try and pass. It would have been nice to try and find the right place to pass since it's such a challenge around this track.

There was a fairly high attrition rate so I didn't lose out point wise too significantly but this race was probably a 3-4/10 with the spin and was on-track to be a 6-7/10 without the spin.

Looking forward to Paul Ric since like Hungaroring I have very little experience there at all with either racing or hotlapping.

Not the best race for me. Wrong setup loaded in qually meant I qualified off my own pace and was 2nd last, I think. On lap 1, I got a small bump in the back coming into the hairpin, that sent me off onto the grass on the inside. I pulled it up without cannonballing into the stream of cars, but then spun on the grass trying to re-enter, so now I was way last. I thought at least I had clear track now while everyone else was hopefully still bunched up.

Early on, it seemed like cars were falling off the track left, right and centre, and eventually I made my way up to 22nd, but then I had a weird spin at T1 where the back just came around (with me thinking "funny, it's never done that before"). I ended up in the barrier, spun a few times on the grass, and gave AndyO a heart attack sliding onto the track. Net result was that I lost a bunch of spots, which I was bummed about after getting to 22nd from last.

I'm 2-3 seconds off thier f*ckin pace and I'm no f*ckin engineer like these c*nts eiver (angry Billy Butcher voices). LOL in all seriousness though I was quite content being toward the pointy end of silver using mostly just default sets, now I'm pro I feel obliged to work on a set, do all that and still be at the bumhole end of the pro...lol. Probably not the best car choice either but whatever, it sounds good.
    Q. was a fair bit off my PB, I put that down to losing most of my visual queues for braking markers under the cover of darkness, not to self, if night races...practice for night races.
    R. starting a bit further back than I would have liked to, took it pretty easy during the start. Had nice battles with Marsh/others and then started to catch up the pack I'm usually racing amongst only for them to start diving off into the pits. Thought I'd better do the same, 30 second stop for fuel/tyres, I have no idea what's a normal time, but I think I made up a couple spots. Following behind a black loose McCannon until he finally spun off and I avoided incident. Came flying around 130R? to see a Honda playing chicken, again managed avoid incident but plenty of skid marks, took a shower afterwards. The last 20 mins or so I was inching closer to Blyth, was a really fun chase but he didn't cave under pressure like I would have. I was bogging down out of the slow corners and gaining ground under heavy braking, initially too scared to reduce TC and potentially spin but crew chief gave a little bit of encouragement so I turned down the TC and started get closer to the Bently but it was too late in the race and still not close enough to make a move. The set-up work paid off some what since the car was pretty stable compared to normal and managed some pretty consistent 2:01's for the most part and cruised home for an almost top ten finish, pretty happy with that, very enjoyable race, Thanks guys.
