    what makes more sense is that we have 90 signups, and of those 90, only 23 expressly want to change to a grid start, rather than all other voters who either want rolling, or don't care/aren't bothered enough to have it changed

    I'll declare up front that I voted "Don't mind either". What we have above is a good illustration of why we use proportional preferential voting in Australia.

    IMHO, I think @Hatfield's logic is correct on this. 23 of 90, a tick over 25% want a grid start. That means the other 75% don't want a grid start or don't care. (To date 73 of 90 or 81% have voted, so that's a good turn out).

    Another way to look at it is to look at who voted for what. If you look at the pro grid start lobby it's mostly div 1 drivers. We could conclude then that the other divs either don't care or are happy with a rolling start.

    Indeed, if you follow the preference allocation process, you can't add the Rolling votes to the Grid starters because they're clearly opposing views. So without ant pre-published preference deals, do they go to the Don't minds?
