DRIVERS BRIEFING R2 - Mexican Grand Prix - 36 Laps

Please read the following carefully and 'like' it when you have read and understood it.

TRACK LIMITS : As per our rules and regs drivers must keep 2 wheels on the ripple strips or white lines at all times. We all make a mistake or 2, but if you are caught "continually and obviously" running outside the track limits to gain advantage you will be penalized by the stewards group.

CONTACT : CONTACT IS TO BE AVOIDED AT ALL TIMES. If you make contact with the car in front, and gain an advantage you MUST REDRESS and give the place back. Failure to do so could result in a penalty from the stewards group.

PASSING : Mexico is a track with at least 3 passing chances, with 2 long DRS zones. It is advised you be patient however, and wait for the opportunity to arise.

SWERVING : You are NOT permitted to swerve from side to side on the straights. Drivers may only change direction ONCE on corner entry.

TURN 1 LAP 1 : Dont need to be a rocket scientist to know that you cant win the race in the first corner, but you sure as hell can lose it for yourself and / or ruin another drivers races by either being too aggressive OR too defensive into T1. Use your brains here lads and give room to those around you. Drivers in the back half of the grid need to brake a little earlier and not cause chaos with crazy passes.

PIT LINES : Please take the correct entry (max 2 wheels over the unbroken white lines either side on the pathway into the pits) and on exit, you may not cut the exit line AT ALL, otherwise you will receive a warning.

BLUE FLAGS : Please observe blue flags, and move out of the way of faster cars if you are being lapped. With the circuit being so short, there is slightly more chance of blue flags coming into play, so you should be aware of the leaders coming up on you, and move out of the way as soon as possible. Best to get off the race line, and with a small lift let them go, so you can continue the fight with those in your class. Failure to observe blue flags WILL result in a penalty.

STEWARDS GROUP AND RACE PROTESTS : We will be using the new stewards group for racing infringements and protests. The specific Stewards group thread will have all the info in it, regarding rules and regs, and the protest procedure. Please read it and understand how it works.
    http://www.raceonoz.com/forums/index.php?threads/stewards-group-official-thread.2593/

PENALTY POINTS: For this season you can only be awarded Penalty Points if you have been protested, fail to upload your pole position lap, make a track limit infringment on the lap, quit without retiring or spam the PS4 Group Chat.

GROUP CHAT: The chat will be used to convey vital information between sessions. Please do not spam the chat during a qualifying or race session unless it is to warn drivers regarding lag.

QUITTING : This is a huge problem in this game, remember in this series, a safety car will bring you back into the fight. As usual, if you have had enough or need to leave, make sure you retire the car before leaving the lobby. Failure to do so will result in 3 penalty points against your name.

RECORD YOUR RACE! : Please remember to record your footage via pre recording it or saving it after the race. If you want to protest anything, we can only act on the info we have in front of us, failure to do so will not enable us to view things from your game perspective, and with some of the issues we have seen, this could have a massive influence on how the stewards group will view and rule on an incident.

Can i just add to that: the T1,2,3 Complex on lap 1 will be a battle. if you are on the inside into 1, you MUST hold your lane (outside) on the track through 2, and then have the inside into 3. DO NOT cut across the car next to you into T2! Chances are that there will be a car next to you through that complex, so best to give extra room and let it play out down the straight that follows.

I think that usually applies to any corner battle. If you take the outside into that complex, the car on the outside of turn 1 would have to stay alongside the inside car through the turn in order to claim inside for turn 2. If you only have your front wing alongside their rear tires on exit of turn 1, then you would have to back off and give them the apex for turn 2.

If you're talking about the incident with me, there was enough space between my car and the apex of turn 2 for a car to fit, I'm not going to give the corner away.

    Have another look..
This is the closest my car got to the apex of turn 2.
Look how far to the left you are from the ideal inside line (the green racing line).
You were in my blind spot, so all I can do in that situation is keep to the left of the ideal line at the apex, which is exactly what I did.

Okay i was further over than i thought. You still had a mile of track to the left and came across on me. im not suprised you couldnt see me with your FOV settings as they are though. Personally, I wouldnt think that theres enough track to the right for another car to fit. Am i being too generous when giving room then? because i can change that.[IMG]

Look, i lodged my protest, got knocked back and accepted it without a single word on the forum (as we are supposed to). I then proceeded to put a general notice about the first complex for tonight and youve gone and called the incident out.

Im not angry, but i disagree. All Good

if i hadnt run out of talent i mightn't have run out of track..... the opportunity was too good to pass up on with all those yellow walled tyres with inferior grip..... thx for another great race fellas

Another race, another solid result and another enjoyable Thursday night!

Was absolutely cheering after setting my best lap and it being good enough to put me on pole, my first ever in an F1 car!
However, with such a long run down to turn 1, I knew that having pole gave me no advantage, but I was still happy nonetheless.

After a good jump off the line, I was swamped into turn 1 and ended up back in 4th place, but managed to get past Nigel into turn 4.
From here I kept up with Seth and Jono fighting for the lead, waiting for an opportunity to arise.
As patient as I was, I managed to pass the two in the space of a lap and began to create a gap, later finding out that in typical fashion they had collided which allowed me to scamper away.

Seth went the undercut at the first round of stops and successfully got ahead of me.

It was a chasing game from this point until the end of the race. I had a decent margin to eat up, and even though I was on the harder tyre, I managed to get within 2 seconds.

Seth made his second and final pit stop and came back out with the medium tyres on.
I pitted shortly after, putting the softs on and giving myself 11 laps to put the foot down and chase the lead.

With 3 laps to go I was within striking distance, before a lag spike cost me a second and ultimately the chance to use DRS. My tyres gave up at this point and I was forced to settle for 2nd place.

Well done Seth for taking the win, and to Benny for rounding out the podium.
This season is shaping up nicely so far!

P.S - special mention to those who abided by the blue flags, was very good

last night was the most satisfying 7th ive had. I came into this race massively underprepared (as i didnt race mexico last season) so i had to rush my setup, and also did a whole 2 laps of practice.
To grab points on my least favourite track and with no preperation was a good result for me.

Shout out to @Viperzed though. we had a sweet battle for the last stint. i tried to be strategic with 2 laps to go, let him by, and was hoping to get him in the last DRS zone, but i copped a 3 second time penalty so that ended that idea. But it was good hard racing, and room was given when needed from both sides. Respect mate.

EDIT: I also have to say, Blue flaggers were great last night. as soon as opportunity arose, the racing line was made clear and easy to pass. so well done to everyone on what seemed to be one of the most accident-free races ive had in the past season and a bit.

Pretty tops race last night! Had a shocking quali with 7th and proceeded to barrel into @Zachery at T1 which didn't do me any favours. @ItzRacing95 got a little cheeky behind me and my broken wing on lap 1 and duly "put himself in the wall". From there I drove back from dead last and stretched out my tires for an effective one stop on two sets of mediums. 18 laps each about. Had a fantastic scrap with Zharvs in the dying stages of the race which really put a smile on my face. Pity his penalty put an end to his top 6 hopes as it was a very tense strategic battle until then.

Congrats to the podium and a special shoutout to everyone who obeyed the blue flags tonight, you guys were bloody tops! Sebastian Vettel needs more of you :p

I think Benny and myself might be the only ones to win from pole, could be wrong tho

2 poles which have resulted in win since this started like 5 months ago :ninja:
