Found this video, with TB's help, might help some of us guys with old PS3's that have never had a defrag from freezing during GT6. My 80gig FAT took like 10min to defrag, hasn't been done in it's life, so worth a try guys, and you should of seen the dust that came out during that fan self clean, well worth doing:

Will the defrag affect saved data?

No mate, just make sure you select option 3 on the menu when it pops up, all my data was fine.

It wont work on the super slims because it has no eject button. The super slim is a POS anyway.

No, and I was expecting to have to point the exhaust port at the front door to dodge the dust but it was hardly anything. Not bad considering how long I've had it, and the dust I've had to wipe off it and the vents over the years.

I find the easiest way to defrag is shut it down by using the universal remote that is plugged in to a energy saver board. I hit off, it shuts off everything, including the ps3 if it's on when I hit the button :)

Generally once a week cos I forget I have it on....
