I'm still searching for that car to part way with my hard earned cash. Since we have a variety of age groups here, I'm entrged to find out what everyone's first car was?

Personally, I'm keen on a cheap Mercedes Benz 190E, so I can be the envy of everyone at school (not really! :p )!
I can certainly afford one, I'm just worried that being German it will be expensive on parts.

    Cheers, Jono

Definitely right on the parts costing, that and most Euro stuff isn't fun to work on in my experience.

I had a '82 Rx-7 as my first car, wasn't overly special but simple. Sold that and bought a '00 Integra Type R. Been reliable as, and everything is sooo friendly to work on =D. If you weren't a car enthusiast I would suggest a 2000 onward Corolla and call it a day ;p

1984 Toyota Corona, Metallic "Poo" Brown. I was lucky enough to snag a rare 2.4L version with the 5 speed manual, alloys, hot dog exhaust and "Poo" brown interior. Did I mention it was "Poo" brown, oh how the chicks swooned!!

1984 Volvo 244 GL, i only had $400 to spend on a car as my parents wouldn't give me.any extra money.

I had epic fun in it though, had a limited slip diff and even though it weighed nearly 2 tonnes due to the steel chassis and only 103kw it was an epic drift machine in the wet, got done by the cops for doing a burnout a month into my Ps and they defected the crap out of it to the point it wasnt worth paying so I sold it for scrap metal, which because it had soo much of it ment i got a grand for it which payed for the car and the fines ahaha.

lol it sure did man... wish I could have that car again, in perfect condition... loved it.
Sad thinking back to the way I left it once I got my next car... wish I looked after it better. It went for a long time though and loads of good times in it! (snif snif)

TE Cortina Ghia. 250 crossflow, and 4 speed single rail. Looked exactly like this one same (poo brown) paint, rims, and vinyl top.

Rolled it on a country road @ 130kmh after I worked the engine, and thought I was a rally driver, rolled several times.
Snapped passenger side wheels off, crushed roof down flat to the dash, and bent it nearly in half, the only thing salvaged was the engine and gear box, even the tappet cover was dented o_O
Had my cousin in with me, and luckily we both walked away shaken up
One of my saddest days, loved that car, would pull 3rd gear burnouts:cool:

Rolled it twice then sold it to go to Aus back in the day.

    1st car...VL commodore 3ltr nissan rb30

but honestly, and i can say this because i think we've all been there with our first car..... - buy something cheap (mabe 3-5k) that is as reliable as it can be.

it's your 1st car, you will want to drive it everywhere, ticker with everything, modify little things which turn into big things, eat in it, sleep in it, :):):):) in it etc.

but lastly, you'll most likely crash it. big crash, little crash, it's all the same and you'll forever bang yourself up about it if you went out and spent your hard earned moolah on an expensive 1st car and you wreck it in the first week/month/year.

i believe reliability is the key here - when it breaks down, the last thing you want to be doing is spending thousands on repairing it, if you can avoid this (and its hard to, but hey you can try), you'll have so much enjoyment, and spare cash, to buy something else later that you really want.

when you get a bit of driving hours under your belt (and stupidity hours), maybe then look into something sporty, powerful, blingy etc.

anyway, probably my dad coming out in me now, so take care, good luck with your hunt !!

As some who went through 5 cars on my Ps I agree with this, having a car is better then no car.
