If you don't want to spend as much, the Focus Sport is excellent. I use one as a company car and it has the same chassis as the Focus ST, without the turbo power. It's front wheel drive, but has phenomenal grip and the interior is awesome. Really good entertainment system and GPS, all the bells and whistles. Probably not as good in terms of handling as the 86, but it isn't far behind. Less than 30k brand new too.
Just got my first car <3 2000 Lancer VR-X CE2 Pretty damn happy! It's better than a Hyundai Excel which was seeming likely

The cars a Hyundai Excel full space frame chassis with a fibreglass body, Supercharged Sr20 with 320kw at the rear wheels, With a sequential holinger used in v8sc before they went to Albins trans-axles. Wow thats very cool. My pulsar at a touch over 300hp (not kw!) at front wheels and it was seriously quick. That Hyundai would be an absolute weapon with it's weight and power! Traction issues?
It just comes up high 900kg, Once the roof skins moulded and can remove that and be replaced with more fibreglass car should be low 900kg, The supercharger has great drive-ability out of corners with the linear power, Just like driving a bigger engine around Plus the 18" by 12" rims provide great grip with some ground effects and a mid mounted engine, having no weight hanging outside the wheelbase, It is still far from what the the others in the category have power wise, most running ex- Nascar engines cruising around with 560kw/750hp, But the little SR still gets up and goes
Theres no actual excel left in it, Just like a v8sc being a complete space frame chassis just to resemble a road car. Here's how it looks once the fibreglass is removed
