Attention drifters--- have figured out why some people get lag drifts, the guys who change down to fast into slow corners like me.. trying to get good turn in.. banging it from 6th to first and compression locking the the rears, have been practicing tonight and will do it every time, changed to auto gearbox and never does it. NSTOZZA accidentally banged from 5th to 1st on his h pattern and it did the same thing. Drifted for the rest of the race, BUzZy as bros.. Looks like I'm racing auto this week.
Sounds like some are running illegally strong drivetrains in their V8s I'm pretty sure if you did that in the real thing (not that you can with a sequential shifter) if the 1st gear cog didn't fly apart, the pit crew would be searching for conrods in the bushes somewhere.
Yes not entirely realistic if enigine damage was on I wouldn't last the race probably but I'm not skipping gears like going 6th to 1st. I'm using the paddle shifters and under hard braking I tend to downshift through the gears a little to quick, just fast enough to get a slight amount of rear lock up to the point the noise into hairpin corners etc, have noticed now though not driving like that. iI have to brake a lot earlier.
A night to forget for me on Sunday, got a great start and was tucked in behind Jason D waiting to see which way he was going to go and I completely missed my brake marker and cleaned up @stucar17 and others. I'm so sorry about that, I wasn't trying to be a hero I just ed up big time and was pretty disappointed with myself. I trundled along at the back and picked up a couple of spots until I got caught behind a smoking Juzzy. I had a chance to just slip by and took it and was probably a bit too aggressive to stay in front and blocked him into the chicane, which with him carrying a little too much speed we both ended up in the fence. @TheJuzzy blamed himself and apologized to me but I think it was a 50/50 call and I was also to blame so sorry mate. It has been a cracking season and I would love to finish strong in the final round but this track and I don't play well together.
Interesting... I definitely mash through the gears with the paddles (@Anon666 taught me this in GT6 lol) Strange how this drifting thing has only started happening in the last 2 races though. I haven't change the way I drive at all. Can you guys see me drifting during the prac/qualy sessions?
Same here only been last few races but happens in practice rooms too. I've been driving like that for ages never been a issue before. We Will have to slow down on the paddle mashing
Well my season has been run. To say I don't like the Dubai circuit is an understatement so to save me the pain I won't be there this week and I don't think Telstras great nbn service would let me anyway. It's been a great season with very close racing, looking forward to the endurance series and season 8 cheers guys
Yeah im out this weekend also. Not wanting to go through what i had to last weekend again with my dodgy wheel. Congrats on the championship Slambo
SUPERCARS WORLD TOUR. Round 7: 4/6 Dubai GP UAE - TWILIGHT RACE - 23 laps - 7/11/17 - Race start @5pm - Time progression x2 Weather Slots : Clear, hazy, Light cloud, hazy Based on 1.85L over 23 laps will need 43.4L to get home (approx 45L needed) First off guys, i want to thank you all for what has (i think) been a great season. Some great racing, close battles and that is exactly what we strive for. Very few incidents / protests over the season, and i have to say that for the most part there has been a show of respect for cars around us. Shame about some of the lag / network issues that have popped up over the last 3 rounds, but what can you do ? Ok, onto the final round.....will try to keep this short and sweet... Track Limits : Again is a pretty straight forward track, with no real spots to test the track limits looking for an advantage.....is lots of cut penalties here (turns 2,6,7,9,10,11,12,14 and 16 !) Most are 5 sec bit cost bulk time given the long straights here Contact : We all know the drill here too. Was pleasing to hear where drivers had redressed after contact last week, even though the goal is NO CONTACT ! Is a real possibility of push penalties at the big braking zones (T1, 6, 10 and 14), so please be careful here. TURN 1 : If we can't get through here cleanly guys we need to all go back to race school.....is very open so stay in your "LANE" till the grid shakes out by turn 4. Pit Entry / Exit : Entry is tough here.....make sure you stay right on the exit of T15 so you dont have to cross traffic. Exit is very straight forward, make sure you look for fast cars on the entry into T1 though. Pit Strat : Pretty straightforward for everyone now, i think you will have to add about 4 - 6 LTRS to get home. Will be a close thing between running the soft / soft or hard/soft strat, would be based on how long you can get your front left to last. FUEL : Based on 1.85L per lap a safe option would be to pit end lap 10, run hard front and soft rear, and fill to 26L.... Blue Flags : A reminder that when you see the BLUE FLAG show up on your screen, it is a warning you have the leaders coming up on you. While you don't have to pull over and wave them through with flowers and a bottle of wine, you are expected to move off the prefered race line and let them past as soon as you can. This track has a heap of spots to do it easily, so please be aware of the flag on your screen. For drivers lapping other competitors, a reminder that this is NOT a green light for you to bulldoze other competitors off track either. Respect works both ways SAVE YOUR REPLAY : (unless the muppet hosting decides to park up with softcockitis and the replay isnt available to anyone !) We all know the drill......with the chicanes being so brutal here, i am kind of expecting some protests.....please prove me wrong ! CONGRATULATIONS to the guys who have wrapped up championships @slambo and @dj, with D2 still to be decided between @coyote and @stozza.......good luck to you both ! Stu
Firstly I just want to thank everyone for such a cracking season in the V8SC. It has been a long time coming but I think it lived up to its potential for great pack racing. I've never really got the hang of the Dubai track and with no time to get on for any practice during the week I felt I was going to be waaaaaay of pace and have a very boring race so I was very happy to crack the 57's in Quali even though it was still second last. I was happy that I had enough pace to stay in the pack and had some awesome battles along the way with some very close quarters racing with V8, Jason, Benny, Kart and Stu, who jumped me in the pits cause I put too much fuel in. I hadn't done more than about 8 laps on a set of tyres before the race so I went with the hard option on the front to make sure I had enough tyre to get home which was probably a good idea. Kart kept me honest right up to the last corner which was great fun at the end. I've been plagued with wheel issues all season with my wheel either having too much FFB or none at all so I'm talking with Pagnian and TM to get it sorted over the off season and hopefully I get it sorted in time to get back for some open wheel racing next season which should be loads of fun. Congtrats to Slambo on the championship and to everyone else that picked up race wins.
Cheers for a awesome season guys, was away for the long weekend here in nz, was suppose to back Sunday but had too many beersies too drive after a days fishing so stayed an extra night. Well at least you didn't have to put up with my tyre smoke for the last round, congrats on 2nd and 3rd for championship.
