So the wifey got me a Buttkicker for Xmas.
Is there any preferences I should use to maximise it's impact?
Note, I'll be using it for GTS and GT7 soley at this stage.

From memory, you won't have any settings to play with when connecting it to a console (besides the dials on the amp).
On PC, there is a separate program you can choose to purchase and install that generates low-end sounds based on game API data rather than relying on in-game low-end audio.

Yeah the only thing I've got to play with is the volume and high / low cutoff
I've learnt that I need to turn the music off to maximise the car feeling.
Maybe I just need to crank the volume..
I don't get a huge rumble feeling, maybe I over estimated it's impact...

If a game doesn't push out much in the way of bass/subwoofer frequencies then you won't feel a great deal - it's supposed to be subtle.
Don't crank the volume on the amp too much, they can overheat and die.

Its game dependent mate. I have one, but rarely use it as i have to bypass my Mic to get it to work, so in a room group chat i cant use it. When i do use it though in PC2, it works really well, feel all the bumps in the road, ripple strips and even when the car is starting to slide. I assume the PS5 will have more ports to plug things into so hopefully when i get around to it i can use it all the time.

Sadly the exact opposite on the PS5.
There is no dedicated optical audio out, only HDMI.
I'm used to having car sound / music through the TV and Chat room audio through the headset.
I now need to have it all go through the headset, minus music...

    it has 4 or 5.
3 or 4 of them are USB A (normal)
    1 or 2 are USB C

Atm, I have it connected via the headphone jack on the controller, via the supplied daisy chained cable.

Would connecting the optical cable to the TV or soundbar work.

    So update time for this.
PS5 and Buttkickers are basically useless without Simhub.
Simhub on a PC / Laptop, listening to the UDP ports and huzzah results.
Now to finetune the feelings to make it feel the way I want.

Video link for the overall setup process

This guide helped me through the setup (more the setup of the Buttkicker itself) - https://pagnianimports.com.au/blogs/news/simhub-guide-buttkicker-setup

    Very worth the investment.

I would but at the moment I have been just putting in the gear change right up and everything off.
Rule of thumb with online users is to not over saturate settings. Less is more, maybe just do gear change and engine revs then maybe tinker up and down with road bumps.
As bot T-GT and myself have the Gamer 2 buttkicker if you overload the amp it just turns off. Do not know if you have the improoved amp.

    Less is more.

Ok, now that I am feeling more alive I can respond to this.

@Matthyus I found some starter settings from GT Planet, there is a pretty comprehensive thread there. Then I just added a couple of other effects (which I have not setup quite as extensively).

I'll see if I can screenshot some stuff and shoot it across to you.

This is my gear shift setting, the guy I copied them from on GTP seemed to be switched on with octaves and stuff and it feels quite good.

This is my road vibration setting, also by the same user.

Then I just added a couple more, note the volume levels by comparison to the others
