Yeah, it sounded like Anon was roughing you up a bit. It must have been fun (if you're a masochist LOL)

thanks for the series emmo it was good fun, really helps the lower divs racing against the faster guys to help them improve. good job to Sparklehead and Closey for their 3rd and 2nd places last round.

Thanks for the wonderful season emmo, I certainly did not bring my A game to it, and I'm gutted on missing out on 3 of my favourite tracks :(
Congrats to all who participated and especially Mustafur, the true standout.
And finally, after my State of Origin race this Friday we can look forward to what will hopefully be the penultimate season for GT5...

    Cheers, Jono.

I just watched the replay of the ring, Musta, how did you do that?, I can understand how you bump drafted Joe and yourself past Anon the sitting duck but how in hell did you get it to stop like that at the right hander before the pit entrance?, you sure sucked poor Joe in beyond the point of no return. You have my full admiration, going into that complex at that speed would have seen me and the car flying over the fence!!!

I use the handbrake as well as the normal brake in heavy braking sections, i have only tied it in the last few weeks and it definetely improves braking performance but you will spin if you use too much handbrake.
I got the idea from Mclaren(idea from newey) in the late 90s when they had a third pedal for the rear brakes, a big reason why they won the 98 and 99 titles came down to that.

Hmmm.... I personally find using the handbrake to be useless but I guess I need more practise then....

Very interesting, before long I will have to learn to do that and move to manual transmission as well. That may help me get closer to the front.

Having looked back at that replay I didn't actually use the handbrake that time, as im pretty sure I set the rear brakes a bit higher on the M3 making the handbrake useless, i got to admit though i did that overtake in a do or die fashion though.

This technique works best if you have a strong front bias setting with a weak rear brake, and you have to quickly tap the handbrake making sure not to hold it longer then a quarter of a second or you will be looking backwards in a hurry.

I guess that's why then. I never run with a stronger front brake setting.

Man did I end that season poorly. Monaco was a very interesting race though and had an awesome battle for most of the race with Sparklehead83. Monza and Nurb were going to be my times to shine but a miscalculation at Monza and an absolute internet failure at Nurb put paid to those hopes. Oh well. More to come...

I used to be rear stronger but a stronger front bias gives better consistency especially in longer races.

I usually change it up mid race depending on desired speed/tyre wear

Manual is a requirement if you wont to be fast as you can use engine braking which increases braking performance, it also helps in weather races as you can upshift to increase grip.

I have seen some people that are fast with auto but they use controller and really it isn't realistic to judge on that basis as controllers can make up for it with the much more sensitive steering.
