Always good to see new ideas.
So a few things...
How do you plan on getting the total time for each driver for the 3 laps?
Firstly, thank you for sanity/
testing my idea...which is what I hoped someone more knowledgable than me would do. To answer the questions on how I thought we could do all this, read on...
Honour system is being applied - but the key principle in co-ordinating ROUND 1 and getting the handicapping is to get all cars to come out of PITS and do a citing lap
but stopping before crossing the start finish line, that way they won't actually trip the lap time reset. I can then "verbally" dispatch each entrant in 15 second intervals. Each driver then notes their total time as they cross the line at the end of their 3rd timed lap. It might be tricky to get it down to the thousand but I am not handicapping to that degree and it will be unlikely we get finishes that close in times (but even if we do we can view replay to finalise order) perhaps? I trust everybody will be honest (think we have ethical people in our racing community). Thoughts appreciated on the above thinking.
What does 30% chance of rain mean for the settings? You can set changeability but it isn't a percentage...
Also when you pit, tires have to be changed...it won't let you not change them.
Yep - I am no expert on weather in the game but the intention is to have some - but - low probability of weather and small impact with weather (only for the Round 2 20 lap) so guidance on getting this bit right is needed so your wisdom here is required please.
Re their tyres, I thought PIT STOP and MANDATORY TYRE CHANGE were two separate selectable items in room settings. I thought you could select " KEEP CURRENT" in the tyre selection field when the PITSTOP MENU pops up once you are in the pits. Good pick up if I am wrong. I will check this tomorrow when back home for Throwback event.
If the handicap is the round 1 result (plus 10secs), what happens if car 2 made a slower total time in the final than car 10 did when it was eliminated?
Sorry if I was ambiguous on this (or omitted the full explanation) - the handicap for Round 2 is based on the BEST elimination session of Round 1 - not the ROUND 1 FINAL time of the last two remaining entrants in Round 1. Reason is my thinking was that the ROUND 1 FINAL will be a head to head race so their times will potentially be impacted. I also thought that, as the eliminations sessions progressed, people could "DOCTOR" their handicap by slowing during the elimination sessions. By having both ROUND 1 and ROUND 2 accumulate the same position based points, hopefully this won't happen. I mean coming 16th in Round 1 (with commensurate low points) in the hope of giving yourself a great chance for maximum handicap and potential higher ROUND 2 points is a risky strategy, is it not? .Does that make sense and seem fair?
A little bit complicated, but if you are running things on the night and have the mic to give instructions (which you do) then it should be good fun!
