Alright guys, We are going to do this in 2 parts.... The top 2 from this will go through for the final vote.... Car 1. Formula C Car 2. Radical SR3 Car 3. V8 Supercar Car 4 Ginetta GT4 Car 5 Aston Martin GT4 The bottom 2 (aston and Ginetta), were tested a few nights ago and are cracking racecars.....i went away from the Caterham SP/300R for the simple fact we already have an open wheeler (formula C) and the radical. The Mustang was also suggested, however i thought the gear box felt very clunky. All the above are great cars and have their own pros and cons.....Please test ALL cars before voting so you can make an informed decision. Your vote will be public, meaning all will be able to see who has voted for what, please dont vote for more than 2 . Will be open for 10 days to give people enough time to test. Stu and Mod team
Love the touring car choices Touring cars honestly make the best racing despite the FC being good to drive along with the radical
Only 3 out of 8 voters have selected 2 cars. Probably best to have it in the title of the thread not everyone reads.
I'm all for something different, and not another touring car - but ill reserve judgement til i've done some testing after tomorrows final season race
Loving the look of the table right now. I don't care if I get thrashed back into D3 each and every race, its gonna be great using something so different! (If one of them win that is!)
I voted Formula C and Radical. Personally, i think the Formula C would produce the best racing (apart from the GT4's) because i think everyone would be concerned about breaking each others cars, and therefore we would respect each other more and therefore it should produce better side by side racing. Radical gets my vote for second because its a great car to drive, and it can be driven easily and consistently and therefore should make for some decent racing. The V8SC is fun, but it just feels to heavy and a bit awkward to drive and therefore i'm not sure it would produce the best racing when compared to say the Formula C or Radical. As for the GT4's, personally i prefer the Ginetta because its easier to drive and easier to be more consistent with the car, however the Aston is great also. As for overall racing, i think the Ginetta would be the best for overall racing, but bearing in mind we've done so much GT racing and Touring car racing over the 2 Sunday seasons' plus the HTO series and Friday night GT3 series to start with, i think we've driven enough of those cars for a little while.
I think the Formula C car would be a great choice. It's fast and handles well without being too easy like the Radical. For me the Falcon just seems like a lot of effort to drive. Maybe a good tune could fix it but I'm not impressed. The Aston got my second vote, though it was a close thing between the 2 GT4 cars. Either one I guess.
I had a run last night in all but the Aston and I'm glad I did. The radical and formula C feel different and great to drive. Except I was getting a weird knocking or clunk in the steering of the formula C when turning for anything greater than a 30 degree corner, pretty sure Stu felt the same. Running a T300rs if anyone else is getting the same, it's the only car it's happened in. The Ginetta would give close racing but it's to similar to everything we've driven so far. The V8SC was terrible for me after using the quick little cars. Felt so hard to drive, heavy and the field spread out after 1 lap.
^^^^^^^^^this nails it IMO. We did an 8 car, 6 lap race last night and the field spread after 1.5 laps really highlighted to me how hard this car would be to give close, exciting racing. Granted, we would all improve with lots of prac and a tune, but i just think when you consider the different levels of drivers and time some guys have to put into prac and tuning, it could be a driver killer over 7 rounds.....That said it does sound and look great
