Well that was an interesting night. I faced lots of different emotions in this race, due to 2 different reasons. 1. I'm in the run for a shot at my first championship, also 2. The Team is in the running for the team championship. and Nemo is my joker pick Pre-Race After doing several practice sessions, I had gotten my times down to low 3.20 and were happy with that. Knowing that most of the division were about the same or trying their best to match that time. From conversation, I had found out that Nemo was taking part in the Cross Community racing event, which was using the R92 on Le Mans.. Extra practice helps tonnes. Hence my joker pick. I kinda figured he would have pace over me due to his. I was not wrong. Qual Managed 2nd, 2s+ off of Nemo. Doing a 2.18 during Qual was well beyond this division. See practice does pay off Race Had a much better start than Nemo and took first before the first corner. Had put quite a distance between myself and 2nd, when I out broke myself into the first chicane... Into 6th I go. From here it was just a matter to clean myself up and get moving. Took Heyagarn and Easy not long later. Same with Jonesy. I seemed to have the pace a bit beyond most of the division, but Nemo just kept pulling away. By pit stop 1, I was 14s behind with about the same to 3rd. We all seemed to pit at the same time too However, this is where the night got interesting. As we found out after the race, Nemo had totally tooled up his pit stop. Forgot to take tyres and not enough fuel... Once he realised his stuff up, he went into fuel saving mode. I was wondering why I was catching him so fast and a couple of laps later, I took him. Managed to get the gap to 10s+ by the next pit stop. Was feeling good, but conflicted at the same time. Last phase of the race I pitted 1 lap later than most, leaving me with only 8 laps to run. I came out of the pits a few seconds infront of Nemo and knew that he would be hot on my heels. I was not wrong!! Managed to stave him off until the start of lap 25, where I had my first dirt nap, it wasn't bad, but it was enough to let him slip by. Nemo was now on fresh tyres and just torn away from me. By lap 27, he had put on a good gap of 10s+, however it then got amusing. Nemo got the low fuel warning with 1.5 laps to go with only .9 of fuel left!!!! Frantically he was trying to dial down his fuel map, while saving as much fuel as possible. Once I heard this, I doubled down to chase him down. I managed to close the gap by 5s, to cross the line 5s behind. Topsy turvy race, but was a good slog. Kudos to Nemo for the win. Easy - well done on rounding out the podium. You seemed to find your lines after a bit and I knew if I had 1 mishap you would have been on my tail. Nice race. Glad the endro is over. So at the end of the night, the team got their joker pick right, but I may have left the door too far open for the season Championship.. Time will tell. At least now, there are no holds barred towards winning a race. I just need to find pace to make sure I'm in the running for first!! Onto something else that is new - St Croix Time to get to know several 90 degree corners!!
Hi All, Sounds like you all had an interesting race on Sunday. For those that recall one reason I missed this week was I was in Sydney driving a Formula Ford. For those interested here's a video of my day.
A couple of learnings out of the day were If you use a wheel with your PS4/PC, turn up the force feedback. It was amazing how much "weight" you can feel through the steering and how little steering input was required to turn the car. I cranked my ffb up to 8 yesterday and can already feel the difference. I think I now need to mod my brake pedal, the spring is no where near stiff i.e realistic enough.
Try GT EYE springs if you have a G29. awesome feel once you get used to them and also solved brake pedal issues i had earlier. got mine on ebay. easy enough to install yourself too. ps. keep the rubber stopper in on the brake pedal as it adds to feel. takes a little getting used to though.
So was a bit annoyed with having a highlights reel at longer than a 30m tv show... here is a cut down version For those that like the full unedited version with lap long battles. Here you go
We had a couple protests last round, so let's tighten up the screws for the final 2 rounds. Also thanks again to PAGNIAN for providing the prizes for the last season of the year, 2 x Wheelstand lites valued at $199 each ! Remember you must race and complete 4 of the 7 rounds to be eligible for the PAGNIAN prize draw at seasons end. ROUND 6 : Circuit de Sainte-Croix C - 15 laps - 13:20 Sunny - 18/11 As always please take 2 mins to read the following so you have an understanding of what is expected on race night......If you have any questions, or want clarification on any of the rules or regs please ask ! ROOM OPEN : Most room captains will 'try' to have rooms open by about 7:50 AEDT. Please be on time, or let the room captain or div thread if you may be late. If all agree, the room may wait for you, Within reason. Please remember we have drivers from NZ, and later starts mean a much later night for them. QUALIFYING : 8:20 AEDT RACE START TIME : 8:30 AEDT LAG ISSUES / ROOM RESTARTS : This is up to the room host. If there is a Disconnection (or cars stuck on grid) at race start, it is sporting to try to get them back in, which may mean a new room to be set up. I always look at 1 or 2 starts if required due to DSC, but as it gets later everyone needs to be aware of getting things going. Please be as reasonable as you can with this.... SIGHT ISSUES: Ensure that you can see everyone on track. After qualifying, exit to lobby and spend 30 seconds in spectate mode, scroll through the list of drivers on track and make sure that you can see their car. If you can't see somebody (and they are confirmed as being on track), exit the lobby, re-join, and check again. It can also be done pre-qualifying to save time if there is no chance of latecomers. FALSE START CHECK : Please note that the start type is Grid Start with False Start Check Please practice this so you know what to expect. Simply, you hold the brakes on until the lights go from all lit, to none lit TURN 1 LAP 1 : This has the potential to ruin someones night if we don't use our heads ! Should be everyone's goal to get through the first phase with ZERO contact. Give room and run in your 'lane' till you have space to run the normal race line. This is especially dangerous in our Group C Monster. Turn 1 & 2 is a bit of a squeeze and that is followed by a long straight and hairpin. If your unassisted tap causes someone to spin, you need to redress. TRACK LIMITS : As we are running with 'track limit penalties" OFF, we will run with our usual Raceonoz track limit regulations. This means you MUST have at least 2 wheels on the ripple strip OR white line that defines the track limit. If you do make a mistake and have to run outside the limits, be aware that you are not allowed to gain any advantage. Luckily there isn't really anywhere you can go outside track limits for an advantage. CONTACT : Is to be avoided at all times..... If you rear end someone and gain an advantage, YOU ARE EXPECTED to give the spot back. Side by side 'rubbing' is racing, within reason, but all drivers are expected to give racing room. If you bump someone and they end up off track or teleport back to the corner entry, you must wait for them to rejoin and get back up to speed. Show each other RESPECT! It is difficult enough to drive this car at the limit on your own, without someone squeezing you within a millimeter of the grass. So be patient and show respect to your fellow driver and enjoy that screaming GrpC engine when it hits those beautiful notes TYRES : You must start on the Racing Super Soft Tyre. After that, any Racing Tyre is allowed. PIT ENTRY : Drivers MUST make an attempt to use the pit entry / exit lines. PIT EXIT : Please use the pit exit lane and be aware of cars approaching down the straight. The pit entry/exit is on the racing line so all drivers please be aware. NOTE: Pitting is NOT compulsory BLUE FLAGS : Please observe blue flags, and move out of the way of faster cars if you are being lapped. Failure to observe blue flags WILL result in a penalty STEWARDS GROUP AND RACE PROTESTS : This season the stewards will be will be @Hatfield @JonoStan96 @Viperzed & @emmo46. If you have reason to protest, please SAVE YOUR REPLAY, and then let us know via a PM. DO NOT BLOW UP IN THE FORUM OR IN THE ROOM CHAT. There have been multiple incidents where the replays from drivers have been different, so its true that sometimes things are not as black and white as they may seem. You have until MIDNIGHT, Monday night to register your protest via PM. We will ask for video evidence from both drivers or room captain to make any decision. Last round we had some protests so let's re-focus, remember to respect your fellow drivers! SAVE YOUR REPLAY : If the room host can ask all drivers to save their replay would be good before exiting the room.....once they exit out and the option goes, it cant be retrieved ! FINAL NOTE: Could all drivers please confirm their attendance for this Sunday by 'liking' this post in your division. If you are unable to attend, please post in reply as much in your division. This way we can figure out our reserves in advance
Looks like I'm out tonight guys. My daughter had my first grandkiddy this morning so will be struggling to make it. Happy racing.
I'm out for tonight too. Never had a chance to try the track this week. I will be racing next week though as I know the track so I can try and have an influence when johnnoclint and Nemo race for the championship!
Thankyou for the racing I have been enjoying myself so far. I will not be joining the rest of the season. Easy.
Hey, Let the emotions calm down and see how you feel later in the week. I would hate for you to make this decision while not in the right mindset. Hope to see you next week.
Oh wow. Now that was fun! Didn't get a look at the track til after 7 and that included cooking dinner I got punted into a few guys at turn 2 sorry.
appologies again @scottb721 thanks for letting me race at short notice fellas, I will get some practice in for the next round incase you need another reserve. I enjoyed it even though I finished dead last, some good racing along the way. bring on the next one
