Hole 10: Par 3, 182m HCP: 7
A deep but shallow green is the setting for this Par 3. Bunkers protect this green front and right while the green slopes severely to the left. Let the ball run up toward the flag for the safest play.
Hole 11: Par 4, 418m HCP: 5
The 11th provides the most picturesque setting of all the holes at Sattler Heads. Then it’s decision time. Can you carry the split fairway? If you cannot, a 3 wood off the tee to the left leaves another wood into a small green along the water. A blasted drive will leave a much easier approach shot. The green slopes toward the water on the right which makes putting treacherous.
Hole 12: Par 5, 515m HCP: 13
This quaint little Par 5 is a real beauty. But if you mis-hit your tee shot, it’s a real beast. Accuracy is key, and tight for an aggressive line off the tee. A fairway wood off a sharply sloped fairway needs to be accurate to avoid the strategically placed bunker on the right. Pins on the right of the green are much more difficult than on the left.
Hole 13: Par 4, 375m HCP: 9
Another hole that asks questions off the tee. A huge drive to the upper tier rewards the player with an easy wedge to the green. A safer tee shot will leave a blind uphill short iron into the green that slopes severely back the player. A tough birdie on any day.
Hole 14: Par 4, 463m HCP: 1
The most fun hole on the course. Blast your drive down the narrow fairway to leave a short iron into a narrow green that slopes toward the drop off. Apply some spin to keep the ball from rolling off into the rough. A birdie is the reward for the brave player.
Hole 15: Par 3, 108m HCP: 11
The shortest and easiest Par 3 on the course. Lob a short iron or pitching wedge onto a huge green with generous pin placements. The bunkers short will make this hole a whole lot more difficult however. The game will try to default you to a pitch shot off the tee, make sure you change it to a normal shot for a much better attack at the pin.
Hole 16: Par 4, 283m HCP: 15
Another short Par 4 that presents itself with a number of alternatives. The brave but probably stupid player can go for the green with a driver over the bunkers, but must face a tricky chip shot if the ball doesn’t bounce favourably. The safer play is shoot a 3 wood out right for a wedge shot into an expansive green. Go for the long putt, sink it, and charge to the last 2 holes.
Hole 17: Par 5, 551m HCP: 17
A downhill Par 5 that gives the player a chance to blast their tee shot to an expansive fairway. A huge green invites the player to go for the green with a hybrid or long iron. Don’t blow the birdie opportunity on this hole!
Hole 18: Par 4, 506m HCP: 3
A very long and difficult Par 4 to end your round. A drive of 300m still requires a long iron or
fairway wood to a 2 tiered green that is protected by bunkers front and right. This hole is significantly easier when the pins are at the front of the green. A great finish to your day.
