Well, it had to happen eventually... Stumbles didn't Stumble... 34 laps of Laguna Seca and only a couple of half slides saw me take a win (only due to Tovey's unfortunate disconnect).
Tovey had Pole by a long way (I think he got a 1:16.6xx), Groover sat 2nd on the grid and I snatched 3rd spot.
Groover jumped the start and was still serving his penalty when the lights went green and I shot past him. I wanted to just drive clean laps and not worry about being the fastest, so tried to ignore Dutch breathing down my neck all the way to the corkscrew, where he got sideways and let Gary and a few more through.
Tovey was making a break for it (which we all knew would happen), but there was a bit of lag and his smoke was a bit distracting and now Gary was tailgating me. After Tovey dropped out, I said to myself "just keep it on the track". Lap after lap, the gap to Gary grew and Slambo was now on his bumper, thought they'd battle it out for a bit and I'd be able to get away... Well, no, Gary wasn't comfy and admitted to being slower through the corky, so Slambo got past (too quick for my liking) and I had a 9.5 second lead. Each lap that passed, the gap got smaller, with the odd lap where it grew a bit. He got it down to 4.7 seconds, but the 34 laps were up and I crossed the line first.
Can't really call it an awesome race, I was on my own the whole time, but happy to keep it straight and get a decent result.
