We had one of our local tyre shop's guys have a tyre blow up on him when he was doing a change, I believe he was changing a heavy machinery tyre, like a big fork lift, anyway you are meant to deflate them prior to undoing the wheel nuts. He had a phone call came back got the rattle gun out and just undone them while the tyre was pumped up thinking he had already done it. Part of the rim went through him taking a kidney, half his bowels and and spleen. He was in bad shape for a while, my wife knows him and was explaining it to me so some details may be hazey any way moral of story is even changing tyres can be dangerous kids. Anyway just thought I would share
2nd week on the job, one of the tyres like I posted came in with a puncture. No tube so was blowing it up. Now our compressor runs 150 psi and it was basically blowing up straight from an airline connected to the valve with no valve core. Anyway the boss comes over halfway through to check on me and it starts making creaking noises. I go to take the airline off and the boss says wait and puts his full upper torso over the tyre. Guess what happened? He flew at least seven feet backwards crashing down on the concrete. And the explosion. Holy crap. It was like dust and vapourised water everywhere. My ears were ringing for a week. I thought for sure I'd get the ass but he realised it was his own fault. 7 years later and he's still getting treatment for his shoulder.
