Stue, you can go the ADSL2 equivalent but it will be more reliable cos the line carrying it is like a 100000000000 lane high way compared to the single lane 2 way road the copper line offers. None of this busy time slow down. Lot of miss information goes out there by both parties, one to make it look super good and one to make it look super bad. As for Tassie, they still wonder how the apples got to the ground from the tree's. Bottom line is i won't be paying big $s for 100meg DL but be happy to have my 12meg running free on the new highway.
Also if it's FTTH (Fiber to the Home) like I thought it was supposed to be, a 12 megabit connection will actually net you 12 megabit, not say 8 or 9 due to line quality or distance to an exchange.
