REMINDER: NO CUSTOM PAINTED SKINS ALLOWED DUE TO JOIN LAG! PENALTIES MAY APPLY
We recommend completely uninstalling custom painted skins from your ACC folders to avoid the excessive join lag issue.

    DRIVER BRIEFING NOTES
    • Avoiding Lap 0 and Lap 1 Carnage - Take extra care as the lights go green as all cars will be in a tight, accelerating pack:
      • Expect cars to be much closer to you and varying in speed due to all the others around so try to leave a tad more space.
      • Assume there are cars in your blind spots and and on the other side of visible cars until the pack spreads out more.
      • In braking zones you must brake SIGNIFICANTLY earlier than you would in general racing.
      • Avoid sudden direction changes unless you are sure you are well clear.
      • If on a straight section don't drift - stay straight.
      • Approach each situation with caution but execute your driving with intelligence.
      • If you need to redress in this tight pack situation keep going until you can move out of the traffic safely before slowing down
    • Start Formation - The admin team will be taking a close look at drivers' positions at race starts as we have noticed that some cars are getting away with being out of position. Drivers need to be side by side with their row partner and must maintain a reasonable gap to the cars ahead prior to the lights going green. The Kunos start system isn't perfect and still allows cars to be a fair way out of place by the time the lights go green so we will be reviewing starts as a matter of procedure from now on. We will issue warnings or penalties to drivers that we believe are gaining an unfair advantage or disadvantaging other drivers by being out of position. We'd also like drivers to stop all weaving and brake warming as soon as the double file segment begins. These sorts of sloppy grid formations can lead to major crashes in the first few corners so we'd like to clean that up
    • Discord rules & etiquette
      • If you intend to chat you MUST use push-to-talk. No-none wants to hear your gear clicks, heavy breathing or barking dog in the background.

      • DO NOT CONDUCT ARGUMENTS OVER VOICE CHAT. Sort it out later!
      • ABUSE WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. There's no place for that stuff at Rooz!

      • Admins may speak at any time in any session for obvious reasons.
    • Optional use of indicators - Should drivers 7wish to use indicators to assist with managing lapped traffic, they are to be used as they are used on the road - i.e. you should indicate which way you are going - if you indicate left, you go left. REMEMBER TO TURN THEM OFF AGAIN.
    • All drivers should read the "Rooz Etiquette guide' and "Rules & Regs" linked below

NOTE: Wacky Wednesday League Practice - Every Wednesday night we host a semi-closed race practice evening ahead of the upcoming Season 5 championship round. These are very informal and chilled out practice sessions where you can come in and try out set-ups, chat and have some fun racing without worrying about your championship points (this is separate to the 24/7 practice server which is always available). Importantly you can practice close racing moves with far less pressure and less consequence than Monday nights and we particularly encourage those newer to sim racing to join in. There are often excellent tips from some of our top pro drivers too.

    • 1 Mandatory pitstop for tyres.

    • SESSIONS:

Sometimes critical information such as server issues, race delays, last minute race format changes, instructions to a specific driver, etc. will be relayed only through the Discord voice channel and text chat. There is also a healthy dose of banter that just makes the round more fun :). Once you sign up for any Season at Rooz you'll be given extra Discord permissions for text chat.

Discord voice chat rules and etiquette:
    • if you intend to chat you MUST use push-to-talk. No-none wants to hear your gear clicks, heavy breathing or barking dog in the background.

    • Feel free to hang around in chat after the race. Many of us like to have a laugh about things that may have happened in the race and it can be a nice wind-down :)

    CUSTOM PAINTED SKINS
Unfortunately due to the serious "join freeze" or "join lag" issue we are currently not allowing the use of custom painted skins for Season 5. Specifically we are talking about skins painted externally and saved as PNG files that are added to ACC.

We love the idea of custom painted skins and would dearly love to add this rich feature to our league but ultimately the quality of the racing must come first. We have discussed at length a number of ideas and methodologies to try to overcome the problem but these involve arrangements which add complexity for the admin team as well as all drivers involved in the season and still may not result in overcoming the problem. If the situation improves significantly either through better support within ACC or through the community arriving at workable solutions then we will certainly look at allowing custom painted skins into our Monday night league racing.

If you also love custom painted skins then please help us out by searching high and low for real solutions, and by all means feel free to do some testing on our servers including during our Wednesday fun practice nights.

At this stage we are not restricting the use of the in-game editor for creating custom colour schemes. This may change if we find that even that system causes serious join lag issues.

NOTE: As we cannot block the use of skins at the server level we strongly suggest all drivers who sign up to Season 4 remove all custom painted skins from their game installation folders as a precaution. If a custom painted skin has been accidentally left selected on a driver's car when they enter the S4 server during a qualifying session causing join lag they will be immediately disqualified from the round. Any driver that has a copy of that joining driver's selected skin will experience a large join lag as that image is loaded into memory. Every other driver on the server may experience some level of 'join lag' even if they have zero customs skins in their game.

    Thanks for racing at RaceOnOz
    :)

Well that went relatively well and happy enough with P20. Avoided most of the carnage and had a good battle with @Flukey for the last few laps until we had a slight coming together; nothing too catastrophic so all good.

I was dreading Monza a bit because of the inevitable first lap carnage, but came through pretty much unscathed. I had a good race with a bunch of people, notably A Tsakohoev and A Pilat in the closing stages with a few position changes. I came 16th which was my best result for the season.

Working on getting back into silver, this :poop: track helping a lot. Constantina effect in full showing first lap causing bad aero damage. A bunch of slow laps, approx lap 11? Wally safely making a move up inside turn 1, I got rammed from behind  from who knows, last bit of aero completely gone had to pit for repair at the end of the lap :whistling:.
My least favourite track I don't know what people see in it o_O

Same here. There are no "nice" corners to speak of. It's all about how hard you can brake into chicanes and how well you can accelerate out of them.

Conflict of highs and lows this race. Set a PB for qualification, absolutely stoked with that. Got a reasonable start and stayed clear of T1, T2 carnage and managed to gain some places.

Lap 1 continued down to the T4, T5 chicane and that spelt the end for me. A nudge from a Mclaren spun me and left the Aston facing the wrong way, stranded and with no choice but to watch the field pass me by. (Sorry if I got in your way :()

Monza chicanes were mentioned above so I've posted a video as it could be a good example. The view from Pilat's Porsche gives a great perspective of the racing incident and how it played out. I'm driving in the green and white Aston #563.

Anyway sorry for the vent on comms during the race, I let my frustration get the better of me this time. Eventually took a breath, shook it off and continued to see out what was a fairly lonely race. Finished 25th overall,

Congrats to the guys up top, some seriously impressive lap times and consistency. Truly astonishing.

Another W! I feel like Rubens when he got the rare leg up over Michael. Alas, it's Mad Monza, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't spend several hours trying to find a way not to smash the Merc into a million pieces over Ascari after Wacky Wednesday's horror show. So perhaps not indicative of season pace, but :whistling:, will take what I can get.

The only point of interest throughout was the start. @Kcender braked quite early which allowed me to pull up side by side. I must have been in his A pillar because he turned in like I wasn't there and donked into me. Looks like he got well rodgered after that but I kept going. Then @Andy got a wiggle out of the 2nd Lesmo several laps later which allowed me to close up and pass before Ascari. And that's pretty much it, just passing blues after that.

Congrats to @Andy and Hendo on the podium.

It's always felt too much like; straight/chicane, straight/chicane, straight/chicane, boring, don't particularly like chicanes in sim racing lol, although I don't mind zolder ironically, maybe because it has a bit more roller coaster effect and you can actually ride those curbs a bit.

Sorry about that. My fault 100%
I thought you would leave space and not close the inner path. Could drive this chicane without loss

I’m one of the weirdos who likes Monza but definitely not as a hot lap circuit.

Qualifying almost didn’t go well but I squeezed out a decent lap for 8th on my last attempt. I’ve definitely got a 47 in there somewhere but that will have to wait for another day. Apparently that was my personal best lap but the delta definitely says I’ve got more to give.

The race was pretty good on the whole I think, I made sure to keep some space on the start and kept it clean on lap 1. On the exit of Ascari I just lost the rear just a tiny touch which allowed Hatfield to get a run on to me into T1, I never defended (or attacked too hard) into T1 for this race even though it’s the main overtaking spot. I ran behind Hatfield for a bit but missed my braking spot by about 2m it feels and had to use the escape road to avoid bumping Hatfield ultimately losing me 4 positions to Medved, Laurensen, Shuttleworth and Reynolds. I had good battles with Hatfield, Reynolds and just a little bit with Medved from here on out. The race was fairly standard from here picking up positions from people’s mistakes and mishaps, at the end of the race I really found a groove and banged in a few low/mid 48’s in a row and closed a gap to Reynolds before stuffing up the second chicane on the second last lap, I would have been in the perfect position for the last lap battle but this made just fall out of slipstream again. I got very fortunate when Reynolds’ PC decided I should finish P8 after he froze on the exit of the the second chicane on the last lap although it was pretty scary when he just teleported inside of me!

I had a fun race but could have probably battled with Nando if I got clear of Hatfield at the beginning. Can’t be unhappy with P8 though!

Had a not great quality, but, the first 6 or 7laps turned out really fun, close, and clean racing trying to move up a little group but Mr Pilat's car can stretch pretty wide. Lonely racing after the pits but always happy finishing up in 14.
If someone knowledgeable has a few minutes, b would they mind looking at good old L1T1 from me? I gave @WALLZY a a boot up the butt and I'm not sure what I should've done to avoid it. I thought I left a good space but he ended up in it and I don't think I had anywhere else to go.
Thanks for the fun race anyway

With starts are Monza is is very critical to stick in your lane because of the people beside and behind you, so at 0:12 Wall starts to move from the far inside grass over to where your lane is, this was forecast pretty early and you do come off the throttle here at 0:09 in anticipation but going back on full throttle ultimately was a mistake. At 0:12 you start to change lane because there is a really nice safe gap there ahead of k. 34 but that's in his lane, you got pretty lucky that you only had minimal contact with him after the contact with Wall but you don't really a safe opportunity to move into this gap. What Masterson does here at the start is ideal but it can be kind of hard to split the difference between what him and you do besides the fact that he anticipates what is going on sooner and slows down earlier, yes he's on the inside lane and not the middle but you share similar traffic ahead of you in the centre/right lane.

Edit: I'm not putting any blame on anyone here, just trying to be objective.

Yeah, it's so hard to judge how this pile up at this tight chicane evolves. I just wanted to make sure I don't run into someone, but it seems I was a bit too cautious...btw, I'm k.34. I made it through, but it didn't go too well. Wally was the winner.
A few more things went wrong during the race. However, I finally managed to actually finished a race...wow! ;)
Thanks James for putting up the replay...was interesting to watch.

Monza is certainly not my favourite track but I always hope I'll have a good race there one day. Yesterday was not that day.

Prac: I was struggling for pace and just couldn't really figure out why. Tried a few things but couldn't extract a decent time.

Qual: I decided to throw caution to the wind and make some changes including aero and managed to find a bit of time in Qual. Not massive but 16th was better than 20+

Race: I was cautious at the start without being a roadblock. I was boxed into the middle lane so stayed there which is what everyone should do! Stay in a straight line in your lane approaching the braking zone at Monza please people! It's the only way to avoid spins.

I lost a few positions and actually had to stop dead in the middle of the chicane as the spins unfolded in front of me. I got a minor tap in the rear but carried on basically unscathed exiting the 1st chicane which was my goal at the start. After that things went well for a while. The car felt good and I had enough pace to get a couple of positions back. Unfortunately though I messed up and ruined my race. Apologies to @Trains (Pilat) for the following incident.

I tried to make a move on Pilat down the inside at T1. I thought I'd braked early enough but hadn't. Once I realised I was going deeper than expected I hoped he would see me and leave a margin (for my error) but it wasn't to be. In a vain attempt to avoid a collision I veered right hitting the sausage and launching into Pilat's car spinning him 180. Not great for his race but fortunately he recovered fairly quickly. I didn't know that so I lost a fair few positions redressing only to realise he was already long gone lol.

Anyway I had some minor aero damage so decided to pit a few laps earlier than planned. With a fixed car a clear air I was doing OK and looked like I might claw back some positions after others pitted. But couldn't keep my concentration and made a couple of off track errors that dropped me down the order some more. So it was a frustrating second stint which really wasn't much fun - and it was all my own fault. Maybe Bathurst next week will be better?
