Some nice rides in here hairdriers N all, I prefer the raw grunt of a V8 personally, a FORD V8 to be precise.
    Here's my ride
    [IMG]
This is the pic from the yard had the windows tinted since this pic was done, had the car 2yrs now, it's 6sp manual not sure what rwkw its developing, need to get it dyno'd, I met the previous owner and he said it has custom ground Boss290 cams. Ive beefed the brakes up with DBA series 4 T3 Club spec rotors, Bendix Ultimate pads and stainless braided lines all round, stop's in a heartbeat, fitted a stage 2 heavy duty clutch, when the existing one :):):):) itself, much stronger off the line after that. Only (Street) run Ive had was with a FG XR6 turbo 310Kw, as much as he tried he couldn't pull away, hehe, I backed out @ 140. I Hope to get it up to Barbagallo for a track day test, gotta get onto it to see whats involved and whether it meets safety standards etc, fingers crossed ;)

Here's the misses ride, totally bog stock only 91k on the clock, a pleasure to drive and the sequential shift is awesome fun :D but don't tell the misses ;).

As some of my sookbook friends may know, this poor girl went into early retirement last weekend

It was well timed, as I am switching to a VT, but also a shame as it still had 4 days rego on it and half a tank of petrol.

The weather has turned to crap here in Victoria and after driving the VT around for a week I'm a tad disappointed. Don't get me wrong, ever since the VT's came out I've wanted one. I love the curves and the black/grey interior and how everything seems close at hand and compact without being squishy. Sure is a big improvement over the VN's outdated looking dash and poo-brown interior, but after spending 8 years behind her wheel, you can't help but get attached. The headlights were :):):):), but driving lights fixed that. It's had a blown head gasket for the last 4 years but all it needed was the water topping up and she'd be off again for another week or two. It ate alternators for breakfast, due to a bad earth somewhere that in all the time we've had it I haven't been able to pinpoint. Every bush and bearing has been replaced in the front end, and most of the rear except the diff which never had an issue. It had a reco'd transmission and steering rack fitted 3 years ago, I know every corner of the old girl, every scratch and dent, every issue because I've either caused it or tried to fix it.

Anyway back to the weather. The hooligan in me loves wet roundabouts. I'm sorry if that upsets some people but I can't help it. You can stop being upset now though, cause without absolutely caning the tits out of it and risking a full spin, the VT just won't play ball. The old VN used to see a wet round about, flex it's muscles and say "hope you got your seatbelt on..." WOOOHOOOOO!! I miss that. Well over 500,000kms, 300,000kms that we had done ourselves and could still surprise more modern cars off the lights. Awesome punchy motor. Not like the VT, which is powerful but is held back by its 'comfort' oriented gearbox.

    Sigh.

Oh well, I guess I'll just have to keep my license now ;).

@Ad2mny Tell you what, I certainly agree with the attachment feeling, as much as I hate how pathetically underpowered the Accent is, it is fantastic in the corners, and is wonderful to drive in roundabouts. Of course, oversteer is impossible in it, but it's certainly more rewarding to drive than the VZ wagon. It certainly sucks to say goodbye.

I can understand that @Mustafur you wouldn't have them long enough anyway I'd guess. When you start flipping 20k cars I would reckon it would be harder to part with them.

I too can sympathise when it comes to being attached to a car, so much so that I still have the 88-89 NA 3.9ltr Fairlane I bought back in 97, I want to rebuild it, slot a nice supercharged modular V8, 6spd manual and a independent rear end into it.
I spent 3k on it @Pedders about 4yrs ago, had the whole thing rebushed with sports grade nolathane and dumped it to a centimeter above illegal;), with some 235 shod 17x8 rims to roll around on. Ive had my XR8 2yrs now, so the Fairlane only gets used to transport the animals to the vet, or loads of dead Chinese made appliances to the local tip:rolleyes:.
I still want to give a rebuild, got nice lines even if it is a tank :D here's a pic

I had my VT for over 13 years and I was sad to see it go as well, the missus still moans whenever we get in to the VF, she really got attached to the old VT.

you can get attached.....not to my commodore though, couldnt wait to get rid of it (sorry stumbles). I hated it from about a week after getting it.

Loving the honda though, not that i ever get to drive it, missus and kids slowly destroying it !

Am about to get rid of the Liberty, has been a great car. Either get a Mazda 3 or impreza.......

Oops, didn't see you had a brother in law connection before I suggested Toby, your brother in law will probably be more generous.

Mazda 3 is a much better car. My job lets me drive heaps of different cars. Subaru is a nice car, but the Mazda just oozes quality and performance. Unless you get the WRX, but that puts it in a totally different price bracket.

Speaking from experience, the Mazda would be cheaper on parts too, my daughter bought an 04 Suburu Liberty 2.0ltr 5spd AWD, nice car great cond only 120,000k's, soon discovered the box was full of shagged bearings and the clutch wasn't far of binning either , after a $5k price tag from Suburu  we found a local Suburu guy who did the job for 3.5k which included a new transfer box to boot.

    Cheers
