I don't know if fun is the right word. Challenging.
I actually surprised myself at how much I stayed on track. I only lost control 3 times. I sacrificed speed to do that. I probably could've gone heaps faster when it wasn't raining. Unfortunately, by the time that dawned on me, it rained until the end. lol

Round 5: Dragon Trail Seaside - Custom Weather Random
    - Early Morning 4x Variable Time - 56 Laps - 11/9 (Endurance Round)

WELCOME to Season 2 for Gran Turismo 7!!
As always please take a couple minutes to read the following so you have an understanding of what is expected on race night.
If you have any questions, or want clarification on any of the rules or regulations please ask!

    ROOM OPEN :
Room captains may have practice rooms open beforehand but should have the official room up by 7:30 pm AEST. Please be on time, or let the room captain or div thread know if you may be late. If all agree, the room may wait for you, Within reason. Please remember we have drivers from NZ, and later starts mean a much later night for them.

    QUALIFYING : 8pm AEST for 10 mins.
Room settings can now be changed via the lobby itself, therefore practice laps are able to be run prior to qualifying which will be run in ‘practice’.
Once 10 mins of session time has elapsed, finish the lap you are on and park up off track.

    PITS ARE OPEN DURING QUALIFYING

RACE START TIME : 8:10 AEST

LAG ISSUES / ROOM RESTARTS :
This is up to the room host/captains. If there is a Disconnection (or cars stuck on grid) at race start, it is sporting to try to get them back in, which may mean a new room to be set up. I would suggest only having 1 restart if required due to DSC, due to having to set up the room from scratch and also having to set timed laps in order to set the grid. Please be as reasonable as you can with this....

    SIGHT ISSUES:
Before qualifying, exit to lobby and spend 30 seconds in spectate mode, scroll through the list of drivers on track and make sure that you can see their car. If you can't see somebody (and they are confirmed as being on track), exit the lobby, re-join, and check again.Type the number of cars you can see in the lobby chat and cross check with other drivers to ensure clarity.

    TURN 1 LAP 1 :
The old saying goes, you can’t win the race on lap 1, but you can definitely lose it. Please be mindful of other drivers on lap 1 coming into turn 1, and for that matter, the entire race. It can be very demoralizing to hot lap on your own for 45 minutes as I'm sure many of you are aware.

    TRACK LIMITS :
As we are running with 'track limit penalties" OFF, we will run with our usual Raceonoz track limit regulations. This means you MUST have at least 2 wheels on the ripple strip OR white line that defines the track limit. If you do make a mistake and have to run outside the limits, be aware that you are not allowed to gain any advantage, position or time wise. Track Limits protests may be launched by any active driver in the race.

As there are no "exploitable" corners at Seaside, Track Limits will be generalised as RaceOnOz standard rules.

    CONTACT :
Is to be avoided at all times..... If you make contact with someone and gain an advantage, YOU ARE EXPECTED to give the spot back. Occasionally, Gran Turismo track limits may teleport a disadvantaged driver backwards on circuit to ‘reset’ them, if this occurs at the hand of another driver, IT IS EXPECTED that the driver at fault will wait and redress the position.
Side by side 'rubbing' is racing is allowed and promoted within reason, but all drivers are expected to give racing room. For clarity surrounding racing room, please feel free to PM @Viperzed
Show each other RESPECT! It is difficult enough to drive the car at the limit on your own, without someone squeezing you within a millimeter of the grass.
So be patient and show respect to your fellow drivers.
If you are redressing contact, please do so out of the way of other cars, off the racing line, or if there isn't much room, off track.

    PIT ENTRY/EXIT LINES :
Pit Line Penalties are ON so you will be penalised in game if you cut any part of the entry or exit lines. Please be aware of cars entering T1.

    BLUE FLAGS :
Please observe blue flags, and move out of the way of faster cars if you are being lapped. Failure to observe blue flags WILL result in a penalty

STEWARDS GROUP AND RACE PROTESTS :
This season the steward will be @Viperzed. If you have reason to protest, please SAVE YOUR REPLAY, and then let him know via a PM.
DO NOT BLOW UP IN THE FORUM OR IN THE ROOM CHAT. There have been multiple incidents where the replays from drivers have been different, so its true that sometimes things are not as black and white as they may seem. You have until MIDNIGHT, Monday night to register your protest via PM. Stewards may ask for video evidence from both drivers or room captains to make any decision.

    SAVE YOUR REPLAY :
If the room host can ask all drivers to save their replay would be good before exiting the room.....once they exit out and the option goes, it cant be retrieved!

    PARKING UP :
If you are unable to continue to race, please enter the pits and leave your game paused without selecting tyres so that your car stays parked in the pits. Parking up off track activates yellow flags in the sector, and even though penalties are off, we have reports of penalties occurring for passes happening near the parked car. Quitting off track results in a sometimes race ending lag spike and may be punished in extreme scenarios.

    ATTENDANCE:
Could all drivers please inform Room Captains or make a post on the division thread if they do not intend on racing on Sunday night, Room Captains/ Lobby Hosts are advised not to wait for anyone who has not communicated their intentions. If you do not post in your room thread or psn chat that you cannot attend, a spot may not be held for you for the following weeks race

TRACK SPECIFIC - Dragon Trail Seaside

A crowd favourite amongst GT players, Seaside has become a stay of many league calendars thanks to its multiple overtaking areas and challenging death chicane. Drivers caught out by this tricky right, left, right should be aware of cars behind them travelling at speed and attempt to move drivers right, off racing line if they make considerable contact with the wall.

As this is an Endurance round, Room Hosts/Captains are encouraged to get proceedings underway as early as possible (within reason). If all in the room agree, Qualifying will begin at 8PM AEST and Race Start (as always) will be immediately following Qualifying. Please remember to empty your bladders and have a beverage of choice close, Enduros can be quite taxing!

I will say that I disliked the rain, but what I really hated was the change from day to night. I was going fairly well in the wet especially considering I struggle on this track in dry conditions but when it went to night I couldn't see a thing and my race went to crap even when I knew the corner I had massive issues negotiating it and I came very close to rage quitting a few times in the last couple of laps. When I did some testing I never experienced any night conditions so I was really pissed when it went dark during the last couple laps of the race. The only good thing I got from that race was that I race without my main loungeroom lights on and turn the entry lights on that are behind me instead, one of the main loungeroom lights is like driving into the sun when it shines through the gaps between both sun visors and it hits my right eye. I think I might be crook or away on holidays anytime there is a race that changes from day to night lol.

Congrats on sticking it out, maybe in future we'll pretend we ran rain conditions, I won't tell if you don't ;)

It won't go to night as Dragon Trail does not have night conditions. It will go to Dusk, but no further

Gee buckle up this will be a bit of a longer report.
First of all before the racing side of things i certainly would fit in with F1 Ferraris strategy team tonight as i was calculating to do 2 11 lap stints and 2 12 lap stints as i thought the half way mark was 23 laps in a 56 lap race. I realised after my 2nd stop when calculating when i would be in for my 3rd stop that would mean my final stint would be 21-22 laps.

Quali was a disaster and couldn't get a clean lap (thanks to the wall riders who caused PD to buff the collision sensitivity - a problem i would face most of the race)
Started 12th but got away well up to 9th into turn 2 i initially thought i lost it and took at least another car out but upon review of the replay i was tapped which caused me to go into a slide. I was running mid pack before a couple of big mistakes on lap 10 caused me to tumble down the order. I pitted that lap because i had quite bad tyre deg, another issue i struggled with, and thought i could just extend the next stint.
Pitted on lap 23 and soon realised my strategy error and had to extend out to a 17 lap stint and then a 16 lap stint. The 17 lap stint went ok all things considered (even had a near synchronised spin with @Blunty075) & came in on lap 40 and knew my next task was to hunt down @btwong for 9th as i believed he needed another pit stop. On lap 42 I was behind @Dybo who i was trying to lap but unfortunately at the death chicane he hit the wall a bit hard and slowed him a lot and i had no where to go and ploughed into him (not your fault game should of ghosted you) spinning us both out causing us both big damage putting an end to my attempt to chase down 9th.
Surprising was almost challenging my PB lap time in the latter stages of the race despite the tyre wear, didnt improve though and came home 10th - a lap down

Bathurst next that's going to be fun with these current damage sensitivity settings.

ha ... i was the collateral damage :) / :( . .. thought it was unlike you to fly all over the racing line K...

for me it was a very uneven race ... semi good quali .. but false start face palm...good recovery from 14 to 7 in one lap ...only to be turfed out one and then straight away being t boned whilst in a spin ...so back to back...and then a slow grind back and some good battles to get back to 7th ...good thing it was enduro and had some time for recovery..btw - we have a very clean racing room so kudos to all :)

Had a great time guys, thanks for the race.
Lap 1 in particular but also lap 2 saw a lot of carnage and shenanigans as we all got out excitement out of us and settled into the race. I think I tapped GQ during Lap 1 (sorry bud), but although it pushed him a little off his line he recovered well and got around the corner.

Web,I think I was the one that T boned you (lap 2?). I couldn't see your car because you were ghosted after spinning out down the hill, as me and another were coming up. The person in front swerved right and it was too late for me and you un-ghosted just in time to send you spinning. Must've been a square hit because I don't think I was thrown from my line too much. Sorry mate!

I opted for a 2 pit strategy. I knew I wasn't going to do anything amazing with my lap times. I could barely get under 1.41 most of the race (hit a couple 1.39 in later stages) so I figured I was best to minimise my time in pits and decided to pit around every 20 laps. Had to fuel manage slightly for a few laps about 10-12 laps into each section just so I could make sure I had enough spare. I think I pit both times with about 1-1.5 lap in reserve so worked out well.

Btwong was continuously catching me all race. Then would pass and have an oopsie or pit and I'd get back in front. I was losing too much time on the last corner. Also realised my TCS was on 3 most of the race (Is there a way to change the default?), not sure if this was helping me due to being an endurance but after Fatty spoke of being on 0 TCS I changed down to 1 and noticed my tyres degraded a bit quicker so I wasn't being smooth.
Tried my best to make way for the faster guys, I had to keep pushing past when Dids/Dash hit the wall or something as I had to minimise the damage I was doing to my times so btwong didn't catch up! Hopefully I did alright by you guys to get out of the way when needed.

Was a fun race, just wish I was more competitive but I'm glad I was able to bring home 8th. You guys are so quick and consistent, good work!

    Pole position - check.
    Decent start - check.
Take the lead early - check.
Gap the field slightly - check.
Drive away to victory - BAH BOW!!

I donated a lot of pieces of my Jag to the death chicane, at least half a dozen times, probably more.
Engine damage and wheel damage on each occasion, plus two spins at the first chicane with similar results, and another two at the long, fast esses...let's just say this all compromised my race somewhat!

Managed to find something close to a rhythm in the last stint and bagged fastest lap, but my race was well and truly over by then! That will teach me not to practice during the week!
Funny thing is though, it was one of the most fun races I've had in a while!

Bring on Bathurst - I predict a LOT of damage over the mountain!!
