Ok, after having 2 laps around the mountain in a BMW Z4 GT3, this is what i can tell you, the track is much more narrow then any other interpretation of Bathurst i have ever seen and gives the actual impression you are driving on a country road. The track is a real drivers track and is very easy to make mistakes, think of it like Spa and Monaco combined into one, this is the most detailed track i think PD have made so far as there is very notable surface changes in the track. Also if you think Overtakes are going to be easy you will be gladly mistaken, even on conrod the narrowness is like the nordshliefe, you have to trust the driver your overtaking will stay to their side if you plan to make a move there. Needed more force feedback to judge the car though, but when i was able to read it, the BMW felt very composed I can feel its quite balanced. This Model of Bathurst is very much to a simulator standard I will tell you that now, those that want a challenging track will like this.
It's interesting that the true rendition seems so narrow. When you watch in car footage you can see there isn't much room when 2 cars get side by side. I remember watching back when radisich was racing for djr in the AU days, and they were dominating the field, after a pit stop he was coming back through the field, but one of those pesky HRT cars parked itself in the middle of the track down conrod and it took about 5 or 6 laps from memory for him to get past. Realistically, there are 5 genuine passing spots round Bathurst. Hell corner turn 1, griffins bend, turn 2 at the end of mountain straight, Forrest elbow coming onto the main straight, the chase, and then Murray's corner. My biggest hope is that the car feels connected across the top of the mountain. I think every other game with Bathurst the car felt like it was a drift challange !
Is the demo still available ? My version of gt academy doesn't work anymore. Assumed it was taken down after the competition ended...... @ how are you beannie? Long times no see !
Ahh!!...i saw your original post and i kept wondering how the hell was he driving around the mountain!?
hey stu - yeah good, been busy with life and iracing lol.... may make a comeback to gt6, but having a blast in iracing - getter better now!!
Last time I raced Bathurst was in the toca/v8 supercars series of games. I thought they did a decent job hopefully Polyphony do an even better job. Least it will be true 1080p 60FPS that what I like about the GT series after playing abit of F1 on Ps3 u really appreciate that, f1 runs at 720p 30fps. Id take less detail for better frame rate any day on a racing game.
Me too Tek, was the V8 series game, cant remember the name on the PS2....... Looking forward to GT6 though. Hopefully see a few guys making a comeback as well to fill the grids right up,not to mention some new members.
Can't wait to get a decent race car on there and have a go...will also do my traditional 22B run if the car is in the game
