Yeah that s me off as well Clevo, but you have to remember that alot of the Holden models are sold as Chevs in other parts of the world. Despite this, it is pretty wanky to have one on your commy in Australia.
I've never been a fan of the re-badging either, if ya don't know it's got a chev motor in it then you probably don't care anyway. I seen a impala badge on the back of a SS one day, epic fail IMO
That's the thing though, none of those engines are Chevrolet engines. They are General Motors engines. Chevrolet just happen to use them in their cars, as do Holden, both being sub companies of GM. Every V8 in a GM from the LS1 (Gen 3) onwards is considered a GM engine.
Good call Chev.... And the LS series is used in other completely non-related stuff too.. such as the LS3 that goes into genuine AC Mk VI Cobra in Germany (same as used in Corvettes since '08)
Yeah they have used the LS motors for all kinds of stuff. Chevrolet, Holden, Vauxhall, Pontiac, Opel, Mosler, Elfin, Cadillac, Saab, Hummer, Buick....and of course GMC. It goes into an AC Cobra in Germany you say Koastr? Thats awesome! They are a great engine though. They react very well to minor modifications and are very easy and cheap to get parts for. Adding a blower or turbo setup to them can yield some crazy numbers!
Oi!!! Watch it Gary, or I'll convince the guys to leave me in Div 3!! But, as mentioned, nice set of Holden utes here guys. Now, the VE models, hope he arse ends stays solid, thats what I manufacture these days.
here are a few pics for all the ford fans out there, it's not mine but i have done a fair bit of work on it throughout the build, check out the stainless steel stone guards on the rear quater pannels .
I'm in plant 4, metals division. Basically, there's a press shop and I run the sub assembly div. making the IRS.
Very Nice Cyber, still cool machines those Escorts... Yep my old man's been working over in the AC factory over there (licensed to Gullwing GmHB) as he has also done alot of work for Gulwing before developing the manufacturing process and hands on building replica Merc Gullwing SL300 (the old 54 coupes). He's a coach builder by trade, so has a long history of hand fabricating bodies for vintage and custom vehicles. He's also worked at Huntington Beach Body Works in LA - there's a blurb about the old man here about half way down the page under 'tattoos for cars': http://www.huntingtonbchbodyworks.com/rich.php Has test driven a few of the AC and is a testament to the crazy numbers you speak of! Up to 650BHP for the SC GTS version. They had to start adding traction control as an option as they are just so light and snappy.. check out some of the links below. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AC_Cobra#Post_Autokraft_era http://www.motorauthority.com/news/...l-cobra-mkvi-gt-and-gts-at-top-marques-monaco http://www.luxist.com/tag/gullwing gmbh/ http://www.motorauthority.com/news/...ing-dishes-out-another-300sl-gullwing-replica
Cool. Yeah, I have been through your section a few times. Just asked about the toolroom because I did some work setting up and programming a huge 5 axis machining centre in the toolroom back in the late 90's.
Although a ute would be handy for work I can't bring myself to part with one of the following yet, (and the lack of seating is a deal breaker as well). I've been meaning to get around to put some photos up for a while lets see if I can make it work. When I'm not driving this ........ I'm driving this ......... But if I'm in a bit of a hurry, I'll drive this ........... Usually to get stuff to turn this .......... Into this .......... Cheers
That Escort is f#cking unreal, man I could have some fun in that thing. Cob, did you whack that frame for your wheel together yourself? Looks good, and the cars, well, let's just say, you seem to be doing well for yourself
