ok guys,
After much consideration, the car for season 6 is the Sierra Cosworth RS500. Its the car that seemed to be in the top 2 picks for most drivers, so short of not being able to please everyone, this seemed like a reasonable choice.
While it was a close thing between it and the V8, Ads and i both thought that it was fast, the car handles very well on all tracks, and the fact that its little bit of turbo lag kept every lap different was a big win. Even in last night's races there were passes being made when the car behind managed to spool it up a fraction earlier and there were heaps of runs at other cars. The brake distance is still quite long also, which 'should' provide a lot of passing opportunities as well. The car is sprung quite soft, so it rides the bumps very well, especially when the tires are up to temp.
TURBO LAG : I have found that once i did a few laps in this car, keeping the revs up was so important so it didnt bog down on corner exit. Also, short shifting on SOME corners seemed to hit the sweet spot so there was no lag, and you could modulate wheel spin easily with the throttle.
TIRES AND REGS : At this stage i have only run on the non tune tire option, and cant tell you what that is ! (i assume its Race soft). Never the less, we will get the regs and wear rates to you in the next week, with the track list to be announced at the meet and greet on the 5th Feb. We will look to have a compulsory stop again, and we 'may' bump up the wear rates to make things a little more interesting. We will be able to have a night race / day race, and will also look at rain options as well.
Also, the only adjustment is brake bias. Means we are all on the most even of playing fields. FYI i have adjusted the BB up 2 on the front and it seemed to brake a little better again. (started fiddling with that last night)
The ONLY thing drivers will have to be aware of and get right (will need to do a little prac before season start) is getting it off the start line. We will give a rundown on the best way to do it in the next few days, V8 mentioned using the clutch, but i dont have my head around that just yet.
Wishing you all the best for the season guys, time to get some laps up in it !
Stu
